I have been a lawyer in private practice in Honolulu for more than 41 years. Over the years, I have dealt with many, many service providers of all types. I have owned my home for nearly 25 years, when I bought it new. Recently, I hired Mike's Drywall and Paint to paint the exterior of my home. It was a big job. Michael Y. Cooper, the owner, took complete and absolute responsibility for the entire job from beginning to end. The work was truly beautiful. I now have the most attractive house on the block. The coordination of the workers was exemplary. They were to an individual respectful, attentive, polite, grateful, and entirely professional, with evident pride in their work. Mike has taught them very well. Every detail was attended to. What few things needed further attention were addressed right away. Mike clearly wants to rise to the very top of his profession here in Honolulu, and, in my opinion, he has the ability and the drive to do so. I would recommend Mike, and his company, with complete enthusiasm and no reservations whatsoever, for anyone who wanted their home painted. I myself expect to hire him again when it is time to repaint the exterior of my home, and also when there is work to be done inside. Great going Mike!

The final result fully met our expectations.

We had an unfortunate accident where a worker was rewiring our cable through the attic & damaged the ceiling. They said they would pay all damages as long as the person was licensed. I found Mike's Drywall on Yelp & he was able to come by the next day. He reviewed the damages & explained we would need to get the ceiling tested for asbestos due to the age of our home. Walked us through the process step by step on what to expect with the testing, removal, & replacement. He even offered to speak to the company responsible on our behalf to explain what's happening. Mike & his team were very friendly, arrived on time & explained what they would be doing for the day. Mike & his crew take a lot of pride in his work & he doesn't sign off without passing his inspection. Overall I'm grateful for Mike's Drywall & I truly feel he's earned a 5 star review!

Excellent quality at a reasonable price

It went extremely well! Working with them was blessedly low stress for me and with a high quality result. Courteous, well-mannered and intelligent work crews and job site managers reduced my need for high vigilance. I can unequivocally recommend the company and craftsmen! Rennovations are never easy, but this company definitely and generously increased the ease factor. I remain grateful for and very well satisfied with their hard work and professionalism.

Sorry for not providing review until now but I needed Mike and his crew to help me out on another small job this month so it reminded me that I needed to get going on providing a review for the work Mike had done for me last April. Mike and his crew were FANTASTIC through the whole process. Mike was very punctual in responding to my first contact with him, came out and gave me an estimate, and listened to me and my wife's needs and provided great feedback. His mudders for the ceiling were great. Hector, Samuel and Reggie are clearly craftsman at the art of mudding. Mike's team later came in and finished the entire condo ahead of schedule which we appreciated very much as we wanted to show the condo for rental as soon as possible. At the end of the job, Mike did a final walk through and taped areas that did not meet his standards. And also had his team return if we later found some small misses. Overall GREAT. I'd definitely hire Mike again. (There was one issue that came up in which a handyman I had hired replaced all 6 interior doors with new interior doors and blamed Mike and his crew for later problems I had with these doors closing properly. I appreciated Mike's support but it was definitely poor workmanship by this handyman. One that had been rated highly on Angie's List ????)

Mike's crew is a great hard working bunch. I talked to a few of them and they were very eager to work and energetic. As they were working, their progress was good and things were being done well as far as I could tell. Right after they were done, I would've gave them an A grade across the board, but unfortunately and it really pains me to say that they dropped the ball at the end of the game. let me say that they did an awesome job on the walls themselves. They are smooth, caulked and have a nice even paint layer on them without any color leaking through underneath. The major problems are that they rushed this job to work on another job and wrapped up a couple days earlier than they should have. For one, no official walk through was done with the boss of the company. Later I discovered that the sides of the trims were not painted well and need to be finished. Also, the closet hardware taken off was not put back on, but instead was left outside. They took all the hardware off for the kitchen cabinets, and put those back on, but forgot to paint the inside faces of some of the drawers. They were not primed either. And the latest problem is that I found that the trim and edges of the bathrooms were not primed either. Painters tape has peeled off the new paint to reveal the old layer of paint. This really looks horrible and now I need to scrape and repaint properly...pretty upset about this one. I know the price I paid was on the higher end based on various bids, but I expected top quality and pride in this work with no problems. I hope they improve because they have potential, but the boss needs to do quality control big time and make sure things are getting done right like priming all surfaces before painting.

Overall, great! I have never done this before and have no prior experience to compare with, but overall I'm very happy and satisfied with the finished result. I was pleased with the initial estimate and explanations and suggestions. It was easy to communicate with Mike (as well as his lead drywall man, Hector, and lead painter, Dyrran) and everything was done as asked and contracted, and within the planned timeline. They cleaned up very well and were very upstanding, and professional. We coordinated the electric work easily with Hector and our electrician. My only suggestion is if you are not definitely sure on a paint color, then plan ahead & ask to have a sample painted on the wall first to confirm the color! We will use them again for any future drywall, white lava roof application, and/or painting needs. I believe they will do a great job and take good care of you and your home renovation project. Mike was professional and helpful. I was left to oversea job as my husband had a family emergency to attend to on the mainland. Mike assured me all would be taken care of and it was. Mike's team was awesome. Respectful and friendly. They paid attention to details , moved all the heavy furniture and protected the floors and carpet vert well. I am very happy. Oh and by the way Kai was great. A Hawaiian music artist who loves to listen to Hawaiian music! A pleasure to work with.

The workers were on time, polite, and let me know what they were doing. When it became obvious that additional work would be necessary for one of the bedroom ceilings, the drywall foreman explained the problem and showed me what had to be done. Both the drywall workers and the painters worked quietly and cleaned up well when they were finished. Mike kept in touch and checked the work to make sure everything was done properly. When he checked the painting, he noticed that the painters had forgotten to paint the wall where the hole had been and he made arrangements to come back to finish the job. I was happy with the work and would recommend Mike's Drywall and Painting.

Mike is extremely professional. Everything done as promised, on time, without problems or issues. It was truly a great experience. We would use him again for the next job with great confidence. Mike takes great pride in his ratings on Angie's List. I even answers many of the comments himself which shows that he takes pride in his work.

Mike was easy to get a hold of and had quick availability to set a meeting for a quote. He was on time to the appointment. I have a 1100 square-foot townhome and wanted to have the downstairs, stairway/hallway, and upstairs common area painted. I explain that I had to three paint colors picked out that I wanted to use for the job. I wanted the walls, ceiling, and all doors and trim to be painted. We discussed the budget that I wanted to stay around or under for the job and he was able to give me a rough estimate for quote before he left. I received a more detailed quote the next evening (which was right around the previous quote). The quote ended up being much higher then we wanted and chose to go with a different painting company for the job.

Mike is a consummate professional in every sense of the word. He came right over to give us a bid. We entertained another painters bid that was less expensive, but decided on Mike, partly due to his high marks on Angie's list and partly because he was willing to get a crew in during Christmas and New Years holidays. His crew is very professional, respectful and talented. They went right to work and rolled all the walls. Protected the carpet well even though I said don't worry about it, as we were replacing them. We added on trim and doors at the end, and Mike made it happen. Shaun is his foreman, and is a great guy, keeping everyone on task and addressing any issues or questions. They finished the job a day early. No complaints. I would hire him again without hesitation. He is on the more expensive end...but you get what you pay for. Cost was $6300 for interior paint with multicolored rooms and all trim and doors.

WONDERFUL JOB! by the team led by Sean. They had a great team spirit, and worked together well. The paint job was excellent and meticulous. They were professional, polite, personable and receptive to requests and suggestions. They were obviously proud of their work, and cared about the details. Another A+ for Mikes Drywall and Painting!!

Very well. Although expensive, Mike returned my call promptly, followed up immediately with the condominium for the specs, generated a bid within one day. He sent a crew of two on the day scheduled, they accomplished the task, made the condo very happy with the work. They were professional, capable, on time, quick, efficient, and made a big impression on the condominium manager. Very expensive, however, at $750.00 for two small patches. Despite the price, I would definitely use this company again the next time I need a licensed drywall contractor.

I really enjoyed working with Mike and his team. They were professional, efficient, easy to work with, and committed to quality along with their desire for customer satisfaction. Refreshing indeed.
