Description of Work: Jack Higa is a professional craftsman who performs with honest diligence to detail, correcting anything his crew might not have done perfectly. However such attention to detail is not a time consuming issue that introduces additional cost in labor to be paid for by client. Jack's knowledge of carpentry and building code is better than typical carpenters. His pricing is fair, although not cheap as might be found with lessor contractors. The crew is generally energetic and sensitive to a fair days work, often staying longer that regular hours in order to finish a stage in work progress. Clean-up concern is better than most contractors consider. Awareness of working safely to avoid accidents, injuries or imperfect work are quite evident as risk avoidance. The willingness to go beyond prior agreement to achieve a proper job, even if more materials than anticipated are required, attests to job first and revenue second. As a professional engineer, I am generally aware of the level of builder and contractor quality in our community, so I'm impressed with the service and value provided by Jack Higa's firm. The job required did not call for elegance; rather it was to complete construction of a workshop, so price and schedule were more important than superior craftsmanship. Nevertheless, Jack and his crew sought to do a better job than what was needed. I would have no hesitance in engaging J. A. Higa Builders in the future for general contracting services.
