This was our 2nd time to use RT Plumbing. Tony, the owner, works with such integrity and is fair in pricing. He delivers quality work but it's going to cost slightly more than others. It took him 3 days to solve the issue but in the end he replaced all the piping, filtration system and pump for our catchment system. He even realized that some of the issue had been from a defect bladder that he had previously installed a year before. He got that replaced for free and gave a discount on all his other services since the bladder had started, but was not the whole problem. We are looking at using him again in the future for a bathroom remodel.

Very professional for what was accomplished. Otherwise, thumbs down. Here's why: rough plumbing was completed and we had to wait for tiling and other water-proofing to be finished. That is not the issue. Since I am refurbishing an entire home, other items have come up. Some are small items, so I contacted him and agreed we'd wait until the finish plumbing could be done to repair/fix other small issues. Well, there were time-consuming issues that have precluded us from finishing the bathroom, and I to had contact Tony for items that are somewhat urgent i.e., replacing the MAIN valve to the home (I am, after all, going through an entire refurbishment and did not realize this until recently), finishing up connection of my kitchen reverse osmosis unit since that was included in the original bid that has been delayed for nearly 6 months (partially installed by someone else who made it look like spaghetti under my sink - and now there is leaking) so I have the RO spigot strapped to my kitchen wall with gorilla tape. I can't get a return call. It seems as if I will not get any other work done by him until he can finish my bathroom. This includes other issues not related to the bathroom that are in need of attention. I am a cash paying customer. I'm unsure if Tony is a contractor who does not want to deal with small jobs, but as a former Contracting Officer for the Navy, I know there are lean times, I will certainly remember this - they say a happy customer will tell say, 13 people, but an unhappy one will tell 30. So far, I am not very happy. If Tony makes this right I will update my review. We are 1/2 way done and I am not even sure if he will come to complete the job, let alone other projects I need done.

Tony is very professional and very thorough. He helped solve my problem with my septic tank and fixed the problem with my leaky toilet. He is a very busy person, so it took a little while until he called back, but he always would get back to me. He referred me to the right people for the septic problem and then came in to cover what he could on the inside plumbing. Would definitely recommend again!

When he handed me the bill, That was the end of my use for him.

They arrived on time and did not leave until the job was finished.

Panic!! Had a very leaky shower faucet and was going away the next day. This should be the landlord's problem, but he was out of the country, and we were new to Hilo - had no idea about who to call. Called around and got no answers except from these folks. They called me back promptly and said they would come that day. They did not get back to me, and I was worried about leaving with the leak going on. But they called me first thing the next morning, apologized for not getting back to me, and sent a service man right then to fix the problem before I had to leave. He explained to me that if this kept happening, they would need to hunt for the proper parts because it is an old house and the parts are also old and hard to obtain. Came a second time for the same problem about a month later. This time it was 'R' himself. He was able to fix it again without all the valve replacing after all, and it is still not leaking 4 months later. At that time, R showed me what he had done and explained how it would need to be fixed if it happened again, but it has not started to leak again yet. The landlord has told me to go ahead and get the repair done if the leak reoccurs, and seems happy to use this company. I was never billed for these services. I mentioned this to the plumber on his second visit but still have not been billed. I do not think that the landlord has been billed either, as I never gave his information to the plumber.
