My prior experiences with The Computer Store have been favorable. Service has not been instantaneous and I don't expect it to be. They have told me where my item is in the queue (usually within a couple of days) and they have consistently met their timelines. They have never overrun their initial cost estimates without consulting me first. And the quality of their repair service has been excellent. They did what they said they could. If they couldn't do something (salvage/repair), they were upfront about it. Count me as a satisfied customer.
Description of Work: I'm a longtime customer of this repair service, formerly The Computer Store, now doing business as the Device Repair Shop. I remember entering the store and seeing rows of typewriters and PC's in for repair (at a time when there were more typewriters in for repair than PC's). That was maybe 20 to 25 years, ago. Now, you hardly find typewriters anymore. My how times have changed! Over the years, I've purchased a lot of accessories and peripherals from them and had a couple of PC's serviced. More recently, in January of this year, I had my hard disk fail. It was an old PC, so all I wanted was to salvage some photos and documents. I had The Computer Store recover the data from my hard disk and transcribe it to a USB-drive. The service was fast and smooth. No problems. And yesterday, I dropped off my son's PC for repair of a boot-up problem at their new store in the Mamo Mart in downtown Hilo. I also asked them to install a new SSD, graphics card, and power supply that I provided (simple installations that I could do, but would rather have them do to avoid later problems of my teenage son complaining that I did it wrong). I expect to continue to receive good quality, dependable service, at a reasonable cost. I've gotten that before from The Computer Store. I expect that legacy to continue at the Device Repair Shop. Mahalo and Aloha to The Computer Store! E Komo Mai to the Device Repair Shop!

Overall, their store is a wreck of junk and boxes. Their serviceman was an electrician by trade. Still, I trusted him, and was grateful they fixed my dead computer. But he could not tell me what caused the crash, could not tell me why the printer didn't work when I got it back, could not tell me why it was freezing up after I got it back. And they gave it back pretty much in original condition...I'm still updating drivers.
Description of Work: Serviced my hp pavilion desktop cpu after it crashed completely. They got it up and running, and saved most of my stuff. They took a week to do it, and gave a 30 day guarantee. The printer didn't work after I got it home, so I placed a call, and their serviceman got online to my desktop and set up the printer again. I still had to unplug it and replug it in before it would turn on, but I didn't call back. Then several weeks later it began freezing. I took it back. They kept it a week and claimed they couldn't induce the problem. The 30 days were now up.
