Overall, everything looks quite good. We get a lot of compliments on how beautiful the yard looks from visitors and people walking by. However, there were some problems that were eventually resolved, and some that have not. Some gate hardware was replaced and it is somewhat satisfactory, not perfect, but we will tolerate. The fence was painted black but the paint is flaking off after less than a year. The ground was not properly contoured to prevent water from flowing under the house as requested. During heavy rains, water overflowing the street has gone under the house jeopardizing the foundations. Also, we instructed the grass to be set 1" below the level of the sidewalk. It was nevertheless, set too high, and we were told it would not be a problem. However, the grass has grown over the edge of the sidewalk and tends to creep across the sidewalk unless cut back all the time. An employee has come back to review the above, but no followup action resulted. We hope further flooding during heavy rains will not cause further damage under the house. Aloha Aina is a good company with good workers. It can become a great company if it places a little more emphasis on customer satisfaction and followup service, especially responsiveness.

Wonderfull I got three quotes and decided to use Aloha Aina. Several companies did not respond to my calls, or did not follow up and did not show up. Stuart responded quickly and showed up on time.

The crew of 3-4 worked on the project for an entire week. They arrived on time, worked diligently, and were respectful. They did an excellent job on the fence and gates and checked with me to make sure the work was to my satisfaction. When I had trouble with a gate latch a couple of weeks after the installation, one of the crew came out to fix it for me. Stuart had installed a fence for one of my friends and I had seen the work so he came highly recommended. I would recommend Aloha'aina and would use them again.

Everything went well. Communication was great and the service was scheduled and performed promptly.

After purchasing a new home in Hoakalei, our property manager helped us in getting Aloha Aina to provide us with yard maintenance twice a month during our travels abroad. Although Mr Rinehart is very knowledgable on landscaping, his workers failed to inform him that our green grass was starting to get infested with grasshoppers. The problem worsened over a time. We took a photo of the problem and informed The owner from Aloha Aina of the problem. He informed us that his men thought that the brown spots were due to uneven ground and that the mower was bottoming in various areas. Yes, this was true in some areas, however, my neighbor helped us out in our absence and discovered grasshoppers by the hundreds and dusted for us. Unfortunately, I cancelled Aloha Aina's services due to their failure to catch this in time and render a solution to the home owner to resolve this problem before it got worst. Mr. Rinehart's employees assigned to our home could have diagnosed it earlier.

NO COMPLAINTS. I hired Aloha Aina to install two gates -- after many failed attempts to hire someone over about 6 months. Here's how it went: I called them. The proprietor (Stu) showed up, as scheduled. We discussed the job. He said it would take 2 days. He gave me an estimate (extremely reasonable compared to other estimates). I couldn't be there when the work was done so I left a sketch showing how I wanted the gates to swing. They showed up as scheduled. They did the job. It took 2 days. The gates look/work GREAT. We got exactly what we thought we'd be getting. I'm happy with how smoothly and logical things went (given my previous experiences with landscapers and other contractors). This is how I always expected a business transaction to go: you get an estimate, you hire, they perform, the work is done, they get paid - everyone is happy. Rarely do things go this way for me. It's amazing to me how contractors will spend time discussing a project with you, come to your home, give you an estimate, discuss the project via several emails back and forth, etc, etc, and then just NEVER SHOW UP to do the job. There was one guy we talked to for over FOUR MONTHS - we finally got an estimate (considerably higher than Aloha Aina). We said and quot;yesand quot; and then we'd call him up and ask and quot;when are you going to be able to do this?and quot; and he'd schedule a time, but then never show up. Then he would call us - out of the blue - and ask, and quot;hey, are you guys still interested in doing the gates?and quot; - ??? what ???? - Alcoholism??? Dementia??? Another guy, who came up with a beautiful custom design (again, quite expensive) simply stopped communicating with me one day after about 3-4 weeks. Then suddenly, about a month later, he contacted me and said, and quot;sorry, I got busy on the set of Hawaii 5-0and quot;. Jeez - I thought he'd died. Summary: Aloha Aina showed up and did the job. I think we got what we paid for. That's all we wanted.

Their prices are reasonable and their work was amazing.

This is the worst company, vendor, service provider, that I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with! I wouldn't wish these clowns to my worst enemy! I was referred to them by a friend who met him through their church so I thought he must be an honest guy and he seemed nice enough when we met him. Wrong! Not only did they change their pricing they cut corners everywhere. We hired them to install sprinklers and lay top soil (the yard was already prepped, graded and drainage swells were in place). They used inadequate and inferior material. Only after the first rain was this discovered as they had moved the dirt so that it filled in the swells (which we told the proprietor about and he said he understood and knew how to lay the top soil appropriately), thus causing the yard not drain properly and all the top soil washed away down the street. This left all the pipes exposed as they had barely dug up the surface, about 1", to lay the pipes and then covered it with top soil so it looked like the job was done correctly. We also found cracked pipes and broken sprinkler heads. In some areas he used garden tubing instead of the proper landscaping pvc pipes. When he did use pvc pipes we found out it wasn't the type to be used for proper landscaping. All we wanted was for the job to be done properly so we asked to fix the problems. When he finally did arrive, he yelled profanities at us, refused to do any repairs and then drove off. This whole ordeal was a nightmare. We had to have the landscaping redone because it was so poorly installed to begin with. Not only was the work grossly done, his attitude and use of profanity was appalling, offensive and completely unprofessional. Do not use or recommend Aloha Aina Landscaping to anyone.
