There are really no words to describe Don's work! From the first time I called to get a quote until he finished the jobs, it was excellent. His communication with me was A+. Very professional and prompt. He worked for 2-1/2 days and was very neat, always cleaning his work area. He explained everything,if he saw a possible problem with the paper he brought it to my attention, but he actually hung the paper and I cannot tell it is any different from any of the others. He is coming back to do 2 more areas and will begin painting. Do not hesitate to have Don do your work. He is excellent.

I called Don in after another provider was unable to properly remove the wallpaper and left my house in a mess. Don was able to successfully remove wallpaper dating back to the 1980s! He then patched any bad spots, sanded it all down and painted. I am very pleased with the way it turned out on what I think was a challenging project. I will hire he and Doug in the future when we decide to tackle more wallpapered rooms!

Don does an exceptional job in a very timely and cost efficient manner. I am extremely pleased with his work hanging the very detailed wallpaper in my daughters room. The pattern matches up perfectly and I can not tell at all where the creases are. It looks amazing and I will definitely be using him again and recommending him to friends!!

Don was very prompt not only in returning my call, but was able to schedule the work day promptly. He arrived on time and got right to work. Our bathrooms were fairly small, but bathrooms require lots of cutting around sinks, toilets, and fixtures. The rate he used to install unpasted paper was $30/ roll, and grasscloth was $38/roll. There was a minimal extra charge for the sizing. If you want him to cover the switch plates, be sure to tell him ahead, so he will bring his spray adhesive. We would call Don again if we had a wallpaper project.

In a word, "Outstanding!" Don was friendly, caring, punctual, called us often, did outstanding work, was on-time and was on-site when he said he would be! This is who you WANT working in your home! Great Guy! Great Service! Great Price!

We received cost estimates from three service providers in the area and settled on Up Against the Wall based on Dan Moncrief''s friendly and professional manner and competitive pricing. Dan arrived in a timely manner and immediately began removing the wallpaper over a two day period. He worked steadily, quietly, and efficiently. All debris was removed each day, leaving the bathrooms usable during the removal process. We are pleased with the result and will be calling Dan in the future to remove our kitchen wallpaper.

Don was selected based on his excellent Angie's List reviews, and it was a great selection! Don was extremely courteous, professional, helpful, competent and timely. He returned phone calls in a timely manner, and also used email well for communications. Don worked with our schedule and got us on his schedule for both a visit and estimate, and then for completing the work, in a reasonable amount of time. He did a BEAUTIFUL job on our walls, and made excellent recommendations on what kind of paper would work best, how long the job would take, what to expect for the first day or so. He was very careful with special courtesies like wiping feet on the way in, giving me a call to let me know when he was arriving, taking care not to let our cats out the door when going back and forth with equipment, and taking care of our countertops (work area) and cleaning up all messes. I am very happy with the job that he did, and happy to recommend him to all Angie?s List users!

He is on Angie’s List. He wallpapered over the wallpaper without priming so it started coming down. He came out a year later after it came out. He literally ripped the rest of the wallpaper down. Now I have to buy new wallpaper. He would fix it for free but I would have to buy new wallpaper. He never could get it right to begin with. He came back to check it out which was good. He wallpapered over wallpaper which is what I wanted done. He never primed the wallpaper or prepared the wallpaper to have anything else stick on there. So it started to come down. When he came to check it out again, it wasn’t all the way down. He literally took it and ripped all the way off. Now I have one whole wall with no wallpaper and part of it has some wallpaper. I was shocked. He was willing to do the labor for free but I had to go get new wallpaper. It just doesn’t sound right to me when there was no primer behind it. It was still on the wall but it was buckling up and started to fall off. I didn’t like that experience. The price was ok but the quality was very poor. The guy didn’t show up 3 times so he was not punctual. He called to schedule at the last minute. It took me a couple of times for him to call me back when I had these complaints.

They did a great job. They were very responsive. I loved using them. They were professional. The price was fine.

Working with Don was great. He gave us a fair est. for the work that needed to be done. He was very respectful of our home, using clean drop cloths and doing a clean up at the end of each day. He removed all the old wallpaper, did dry wall repairs when needed and then did a great job putting up the new wallpaper. We would definitely call him again.

Overall, it went well. He was very friendly and polite in his demeanor. The wallpaper looked very nice on the walls, although the seams were not quite as neat as I've had from other wallpaper installers in the past. He did clean up very thoroughly and left my house looking ready-to-go. I would recommend him. If you aren't too picky about the seams you will be very pleased.

They did a very neat, very good job. It was two month ago. I spent fifteen hundred dollars with them. They did a very professional job. He finished the job in the time he said he would finish. His prices were fair. I would use him again.

He did a fine job. It took several days. He was conscientious, pleasant to work with.

From the estimate to the finish it went very well. He even helped me make some decisions about some walls. I will definitely be using him again and recommending him to friends.

Very courteous, on time, gave additional, free, helpful advice about future projects--including how I could do some myself and save money. He worked a LONG time on that stubborn wallpaper, cleaned up, and filled the areas where removal caused surface gouges (expected!). I do have to go back and add more filler but it is always hard to tell when filler is wet whether or not it will need a little touch up--especially when I plan to paint the wall and want a good surface. I would use this company again.

Don removed old fabric that had been upholstered to the walls decades ago in our new house, then he removed the VERY OLD wallpaper that was underneath. This task was incredibly tedious and involved hundreds of staples that needed to be removed, and Don persevered for several days until the task was complete when I'm certain many people would have jumped ship. He also applied wallpaper to our powder room, and it looks fabulous. While the prices for the removal project were on the higher side, I thought the quality of work and Don's professionalism were great. I will be calling him again for future projects.

If you need a painter, a wallpaper or someone to repair drywall damage-- look no further. Up Against the Wall has been my greatest Angie's List find. I would recommend Don and his company to anyone. Don is friendly, professional and his work is meticulous. Don is an artist at his craft. He takes his work very seriously and it shows. From the moment I met Don, I knew I could trust this aspect of my home renovation to him, and he did not disappoint. Every day over the course of the 3 day project, Don emailed me updates to tell me what he had done and what was next on the docket. That kind of customer service is greatly valued but hard to find. I could not be happier with the end result of Don's work. The paint is perfect. The wallpaper looks gorgeous. And, you'd never know there was anything wrong with my drywall. I wish Don did everything because he would be my "go to" guy. We're already talking about repainting upstairs because the work Don did to the downstairs of our home gave it a huge facelift! A talented painter makes all the difference. Trust your home to Don. You'll be glad you did. I am.

Don was great! He arrived exactly when he said he was for the free estimate and then gave me a very reasonable price. Then, the job was completed within two weeks, over just 2 days time. I'm a busy work-from-home professional who lives alone and was very grateful that he moved all the heavy furniture for me. I truly didn't have to do a thing but let him in, let him out and show him where the sink was so he could get water to work. Also, the rooms look great and paint-ready. I couldn't have asked for a better experience!

The room is a half bath. I thought the paper could go over the old wallpaper, but he said the old paper was coming up too easily. He removed the old paper, did some minor drywall repairs, painted the walls with primer that I provided. He check the walls for any damage (water, insects, etc) before he tried to install the new paper. He didn't tell me that, but I could hear him tapping on the surfaces looking for soft drywall. He also removed the small vanity to install the paper behind it. The new paper was not-pre-pasted, and it was paper not vinyl or paper-vinyl mix. It seemed to be a delicate paper, but he did a great job, and I think it looks fantastic. The price was a little high for a tiny half bath, but in the end the work was done right.

Don came to our house to give us an estimate on installing a copper ceiling in our dining room tray. We had been turned down by several other "contractors" because they were afraid to do it since they never had before. Don right away told us "no problem" and we were set to go the following week. He did such an amazing job given the difficulty of the install! We love it and couldn't be happier. We will definitely use him again for any decorative wall work.

Don performed excellently. On time, courteous, talented. Worth every penny, and it only took about an hour! We will use Up Against the Wall again, without a doubt.

Don is the best wallpaper guy that I have ever worked with. He is honest, responsive and a perfectionist in his work. The new wallpaper is beautiful and flawless. I would hire him over and over.

Don did an excellent job and is a true delight to work with. Professional and has a great eye for color and symmetry. He was patient with my yappy dogs and great company while he was working. Don with Up Against The Wall in an extremely talented wall paper installer. First off, he provided me with an estimate and explained how he priced his projects very clearly and accurately. He was punctual and extremely courteous on the job site. There were a lot of different schedules and contractors to work around and he accommodated us very well. As I mentioned above, some of the papers were very challenging to install. There was a lot of of trimming and matching that needed to occur and large size papers that were hard to handle and install. He also installed a very complex hand painted paper which had to be installed exactly as it was designed or the entire lot of paper would be ruined. Everything turned out perfectly. If I had not used someone as experienced as Don, I know it would have been a challenge to complete the project. I will use Don again on my future projects as he is the most competent wall paper installer I have worked with. I would trust him with any project, large or small, as I know he will execute the job perfectly.
