Reels Lawn Mower Repair and Service

I have been looking to get a riding lawn mower fixed and did some calling around before finding Reels Lawnmower Repair. We had two lawn mowers that we were hoping to get repaired so we brought over one after speaking with a very nice younger gentleman on the phone. He walked me through the process and I explained that the mower deck was getting caught and need repair. We had taken the deck off so we could view it better and I had asked the gentleman on the phone if they would like it put back on before bringing it over. He replied no, it'd be easier off. So we brought all the clips and screws for it so they had all the parts. Two weeks after we dropped it off, I called to get a status on it and another man picked up and gave me the run around that if I didn't have two weeks to wait for it, then I shouldn't have dropped it off. That was fine, it was still early compared to other places. I was just going off the time frame someone else said to me. He then mentioned he should get a chance to look at it in the next week. Alright, fine. After four weeks, I called again, and alas, was told that he had not looked at it because he spends 90% of his day on the phone and can never get to working on any lawn mowers. He then mentioned he'd get look at it the next week. Finally after 6 weeks, I called and he still mentioned that he hadn't looked it and kept mentioning that us bringing it in "pieces" made it harder for him after we had asked if they'd rather us put it back together. He once again mentioned spending more time on the phone than being able to work on the motors. I finally just said I didn't want to be rude, but that we would be coming to pick it up. At this point, the man was blatantly rude stating that I was more than welcome to pick it up and wait 9 weeks somewhere else, then hung up on me. I read the reviews before coming here, they say he does good work and has fair prices, and I don't have anything against that, I am sure he does fine work. However, the customer service of the business is disorganized and rude.

called last week and then again yesterday, told him when I would be by. I told them I lived in Ball Ground, he said no problem. I get it. I literally drove up to the shop, dropped off my tri-cut 27 inch (which I have own for 21 years), came back in an hour. Backlap and maintenance done. Blade was razor sharp. Cut a grocery store receipt in half with the precision of a surgeon blade when I got home. I have taken my mower to Glassland, Howard Brothers, DR and a few other lawn equipment shops over the past 21 years. Reels is the best so far. Appears all he does is repair and maintenance mowers. Great value, high trust and quality work. I know, what a concept!!!

Excellent service, Richard explained the issues and gave advice on care for equipment. Fast turnaround for a sole proprietor business! Will use this business in the future.

Went great. Fixed properly for a reasonable price.

Poorly. Emails, messages through Angie's list, and phone calls went un-responded to. I think they must have either gone out of business or are so unprofessional that I couldn't imagine using them for any service. Eventually I had to ask another company to do the work.

Work was done professionally and on time. Gave him a "B" for punctuality because he did arrive late for an initial pick up, although he did call to inform me he was running late.

As I said above, on time and at best price.

They did a great job. The equipment was ready when promised and both the trimmer and mower have worked like a charm since being repaired. They're friendly and extremely knowledgeable and seem happy to help.

They are without a doubt knows more than anyone I have ever met. Most reasonably priced company in the entire area. Cash only. He'll take care of it right then and there.

Well. They quickly diagnosed the problem and fixed it.

This is the second time that I've used their service. The first time was to get the lawnmower up and running after sitting unused for more than three (3) years with ethanol fuel in the tank. Try as I might, I could not get the lawnmower to run even using fresh gasoline and starting fluid. Took it over to Reel's on a Saturday afternoon. We arrived late (after they officially closed), but they were waiting for us. After documenting everything that I had done and the problems I had encountered, they did a quick check to make sure that there weren't any major problems with the ignition, engine, or the drive gears that might cost more than the lawnmower was worth (my choice) before accepting the unit for repair which was completed three days later at a very reasonable cost of $50.00 parts and labor. After about two months worth of heavy use, the self-drive mechanism on the lawnmower started to drag then locked up. I took the unit back to Reel's and they removed the locked up wheel, fixed the lawnmower, and reassembled it in less than 30 minutes time. Cost was only $10 labor and parts. Their's is best service that I have ever had for all the years of lawnmower maintenance/ownership bar none!

It went perfectly, no better person around to do work like this. I have used all repair shops in Acworth and Kennesaw and this guy is the BEST!!!!

The guy was very honest. The prices are reasonable and did a great job. Instead of replacing a blade he just sharpened it to save us money.

The maintenance may have been alright, but I can't say for sure so I have to give a grade of " C". Richard and his wife picked up my lawn mower on 3/17/2015. I had not heard from them for several days, so I called to find out the status of my lawn service. Rachel told me that they were "slammed" and she'd get back to me when my lawn mower would returned to me. At nearly 2 weeks, I called again and Rachel said that my mower was ready but they had been too "slammed" to return it to me. On 3/31/2015, I got my mower back. After I got my mower back, I was able to mow my lawn once and during the second time, it sputtered several times before finally dying 3 weeks after it was returned to me on 3/31/2015. I spoke to Richard on 4/25/2015 and explained that I had gotten my mower serviced by him 3 weeks earlier but I needed it repaired now. I asked if he was too busy because I would like for him to repair it; he said it would take a couple of days of repair. He said he'd pick it up on 4/27/2015 during the afternoon. On 4/27/2015 while I was out Richard left a voice message in the morning that his father would be in my area and would be able to pick my mower up but to please call back. I called back around 1:00 pm and Rachel answered saying she'd try to reach her father-in-law but if she couldn't, it would be a couple of days before they could pick up my mower. Since I learned not to call Rachel for any follow-up and I had not heard from her by 4/30/2015, I called Mower Medic to fix my lawn mower. Mower Medic came to my home on 5/1/2015, fixed the carburetor at my home, tested it a few times (waiting about 5 minutes between each test) to be sure it was working fine and charged me $50. Due to Reels Lawn Mower Repair and Service's workload and inability to communicate the status of service, I have had to remove them from my subdivision's recommendation webpage. Sadly, I have decided to switch to Medic Mower which is much closer to my home anyway and comparable/better in cost, particularly for small quick jobs that can be done as a home visit. Response to Reels: For clarification purposes to potential customers, there is a pickup/delivery charge of $30. To properly set customer expectations, it would be best to inform customers before accepting a job, how long a backlog of work is. That would permit customers to decline service.

Richard discovered that rather than the gas line being blocked, the engine had actually been burned up. It was not repairable. He explained to me that the cause was low oil in the power washer and that to properly measure the oil, I should not screw on the cap to the oil tank. Doing so (as I had always done) would produce a false reading of more oil than there really was. Rather, you simply place the cap on its opening without screwing it on to get an accurate reading of the oil level. Since he wasn't able to do anything to repair the engine - short of replacing or rebuilding it (which would be more expensive than purchasing a new one) - he did not charge me for his labor. Very much appreciated.

Riding mower would start but after a couple engineturn overs would not run. Took it to Richard. He diagnosed a clogged carburetor; cleaned it; and called me later same day to come pick it up. He even gave the mower a good cleaning. Runs and looks like new. Great service. Highly recommended.

Dropped the mower off on Monday in very poor condition; it would barely run at all. I was able to pick it up on Friday morning of that same week, and for a cost of $30 the mower was running like new. Service was fast, friendly, professional, and affordable. Very, very pleased!

They sharpened the blade while I waited. I was unsure about making the drive (40 minutes from my home). But, it was worth it. I did not have to make a return trip to pick up the sharpened blade. I spoke with two men an both were courteous and pleasant.

Took riding mower up to Richard that would not run, he had it fixed with in days and did more than asked to do, he also helped me get it off and on the truck, price was very reasonable. Thank You very much

I took our 10 year old Ryobi string trimmer and edger attachment in because it would only run on full choke and stop when over heated. I had paid another place to fix it and they made it worse. I was ready to buy new... After I explained the issue to Richard, I started back to my car. Before I could get in and leave, I heard the engine start and the throttle work. They stopped me before I could leave. He tested both attachments. "It was only a small adjustment" he said. It should work fine now. My wife asked how much we owed and he said... nothing! Nothing!! I was stunned. Anywhere else there would have been a full service charge. This is the best and most honest service I have ever received. I would highly recommend using them for any service needs you have.
