We signed a contract in October 2013, for the work, and gave Mario (owner) a deposit to purchase material. We had contracted to have the fence done in vinyl, and did not find out until much later that he could only do it in wood. Work finally began (late November-early December) but took FOREVER to complete. Mario blamed the weather, health issues, problems with his family in Florida that he had to attend to (twice during the construction), workers with broke down cars or having to go to court, wrong/missing material, and backlog of other work. He would constantly make promises to be on sight and not show up or call. When he did make a promise he would make tell me on Monday or Tuesday that he would be on sight the following Monday (GUARANTEED) , and then not show up. When he did send a worker (usually one person), the guy would arrive around 11AM, sit in his car for 30 minutes, then work til 1:30, and leave for the day. In the over 7 months that this individual came to the sight, this happened on at least 8 occasions, and Mario was informed of his guys' work ethics (or lack of). In addition to this there were occasions where Mario's equipment (pressure washer) broke down. We had to provide the use of OUR pressure washer so he could do his job. While painting the fence, his people were extremely careless and over sprayed everything nearby. In addition to this, 2 extra gate remotes were requested. Mario attempted to charge me $65 EACH for the remotes that I purchase at a local store for under $20 EACH. With dozens of attempts to reach Mario by phone, we took a drive to the address on his invoice and did NOT find his place of business. After numerous calls (with no return calls) and emails with promises to go to court, the job was completed the second week of June (over 8 months later) and final payment was made. But this was not the end of the story. The following week after completion, the main gate broke at the weld. Mario was called and promised to come fix it. Once again it took many more weeks of calls and promises for him to get to the job site and repair the gate. Now four weeks later and another one of his "quality gates" is severely sagging and nearly impossible to close or latch. I will not call him for repair, and just tack this up as a BAD experience and will find a reputable fence guy to do TRUE quality work. It is definitely worth paying 10% or more, to a quality contractor to get a job completed, than to have to deal with a company like Five Star Fencing in Canton, GA.
Description of Work: Erected 900 feet of new fence, installed 3 gates (one motorized), and paint new and existing fence.

DO NOT USE 5 star fencing!!! It was a very long process to get the job complete...if you even want to call it complete now! Mario has no problem coming to collect his money but will never call you back when you are having a problem. The quality of work was awful. Mario said the staining would last 5-7 years...it has been 6 MONTHS and all our fences are flaking. He promised to come replace all our gates but has never come back. They were warped from the second they were installed. If you call Mario on a number that he doesnt have saved in his phone...he may answer. If he does, he will give you every excuse and will say "they will be coming later in the week...well its been 6 months, multiple calls by all the neighbors and still nothing. The key to working with 5 Star Fencing is DO NOT PAY THEM A CENT UNTIL THE WORK IS COMPLETE AND TO YOUR SATISFACTION!
Description of Work: We had a cross buck fence installed....it was 5 neigbors in a straight row.

They tore down my previous fence and put in a new one. About a couple of months ago I called him about the fence that was starting to lean in different places. They came back and said they would charge me 400.00 to repair it. They said it was because the neighbors hung things on the fence and that was why this happened. They came back to repair it and they said the posts are broken and that it would cost more. I noticed the posts were rotten and he asked for 300.00 up front before he did anything. He took the damaged wood with him and he has fixed the fence. I gave him another 100.00 check but stopped payment on it when I realized I had been taken. I found out later that on the original invoice, it said the fence was covered for 15 years from wood rot and decay. I should not have paid anything extra for this work that should have been done right the first time.
Description of Work: They put in a wood fence for me.

As above. I was looking to install 215 lineal feet of PT Pine fence, 6' capped design, two walk gates. He would have gotten the job, had he agreed to two modifications and 5 clarifications of his contract, such as removal of the existing fence to be defined as disposal costs, which he had already verbally stated.
Description of Work: Mario did not return calls. I requested some minor contract modifications to protect me against a lien and to clarify what I was to receive in design and material, and he disappeared. When I reached him, he made an excuse about having email trouble and that he would call me that evening. No call ever came and I washed my hands of him. He still may be a good contractor, I don't know. But he sure seems unwilling to give his customer the same level of protection his contract gives him.

They were on time and very hard working. They did an overall good job. We have no reason to call back and complain. They were courteous and did a good job, as expected. We would recommend them.
Description of Work: Five Star Fencing put up a 160 foot wooden fence in our backyard. The work took them one day to complete.
