We received 6 bids. Driveways R Us was in the middle of the price range, however, the value provided exceeded the others. They used 4000 psi concrete; fiber reinforcement; steel re-rods; a hollow pipe under the driveway for possible use of electrical lighting or sprinklers; and, good foundation preparation (including adding an aggregate base and leveling). They were prompt in responding to our questions, and came out again after giving us the proposal to ensure we didn't have a sink hole under our existing cracked driveway. Other companies either lacked a proposal to this level of detail (or materials) or were not relatively prompt (no/slow call backs, missing appointments, slow to provide proposals). All workers spoke perfect English and they used the right equipment for the job (I am familiar with this line of work). One day to remove existing concrete. One day to pour the driveway and sidewalk (1564 sqft). A few hours in another day to remove forms and clean up. Overall, it was a great experience. Would use them again.

We signed a contract with Driveways R Us to have our driveway replaced. We were supposed to be contacted two days before the work was to begin on Mon Nov 6th. I had to call on Fri to find out that they were not going to come until the next week assuming the weather was good. I still had to send a text the next week to find out when the work was to start. Work started early Monday Nov 13,2017 and everything was going well. The crew was very professional and courteous. When the crew had finished tearing out my sidewalk and about two thirds of my driveway the person who had provided us with our contract came to my door and told us that she had missed a whole section of the driveway when doing her measurements and would need additional money to cover the cost. She said we "should have know the estimate was wrong because we had recieved other estimates". They wanted almost an additional 20% to cover their mistake and was trying to blame us! I called them back later and offered them an add'l $500 thinking that was fair since we had a contract for the work and was trying to be nice. The owner Paul later called back stating that the person who wrote the contract was already giving up her commission and $500 would not cover the cost of the add'l concrete and again said that we should have known that the measurements were wrong and we were not good people if we wanted him to lose money on this job. He "agreed" to let us only pay half of the cost which was $2800 or he would cancel the contract and walk away. This was 8 pm on Monday night and we had a mud / gravel pit for a driveway that had a 6 inch drop from the gutter at the road with a sidewalk and no way to access our property! Since Thanksgiving was just a little over a week away and the driveway has to dry for 5 days we did not think that we could find any one else that could finish the job. We had no choice but to agree since he was not going to send out the concrete the next day unless we signed a new contract agreeing to the new amount. Unbelievable!

YES, THIS WAS AN HONEST MISTAKE ON OUR PART AS OUR SALESPERSON FAILED TO ADD THE ADDITIONAL 700+ SQ FT TO THE PROPOSAL TO WHICH SHE APOLOGIZE FOR SUCH. HOWEVER, THE PROPOSAL/CONTRACT (WHICH WAS SIGNED BY THE HOMEOWNER) STATED THE SQUARE FOOTAGE FOR THE PRICE QUOTED WHICH IS WHAT THE CONTRACT OBLIGATED US TO COMPLETE. AFTER SOME DISCUSSION WITH THE HOMEOWNER, IT SEEMED THE HOMEOWNER WAS AWARE OF THE SQUARE FOOTAGE BEING MUCH LESS THAN THE OTHER PROPOSALS THEY RECEIVED - THAT WOULD BE WHY OUR PROPOSAL WAS MUCH LESS THAN THE OTHERS, THUS THE PRICE IS WHY THEY CHOSE DRIVEWAYS R US. EVEN THOUGH WE SHOULD HAVE ASKED FOR THE AMOUNT OF THE MISSED EXTRA SQ FOOTAGE WHICH WOULD HAVE MADE THE PROPOSAL AN ADDITIONAL $3600.00, WE ONLY ASKED FOR $2000.00 FORFEITING THE COMMISSION. THEY OFFERED $500.00 WHICH WAS GREATLY APPRECIATED BUT WOULD NOT COME EVEN CLOSE TO THE PRICE NEEDED FOR THE COMPLETION OF THIS PROJECT. THEREAFTER ALL WE ASKED AFTER MUCH DISCUSSION WAS HALF THE PRICE OF THE EXTRA CONCRETE ALONE. THIS AMOUNT DID NOT INCLUDE THE COSTS OF TEAR OUT OR HAUL AWAY OF THE EXTRA CONCRETE, NOR DID IT INCLUDE THE EXTRA LABOR NOT TO MENTION THE COMMISSION AS STATED EARLIER - THERE WAS NO COMMISSION PAID AS THIS WAS THE SALESPERSON'S MISTAKE AND THE REST OF COSTS TO COMPLETE THIS PROJECT CAME OUT OF OUR POCKET. SO BECAUSE OF THIS MISHAP, DRIVEWAYS R US TOOK A LOSS AND WE ATE THE EXTRA COSTS. WE CHUNK THIS WHOLE EXPERIENCE TO AN UNFORTUNATE MISHAP ON OUR PART WHEREBY WE ARE THE ONE THAT SUFFERED THE MOST. WE HATE THIS MAY HAVE PUT THE HOMEOWNERS IN A BIND OF SORTS EVEN THOUGH WE COULD HAVE EASILY FOUND SOMEONE ELSE TO FINISH THE JOB FOR THEM - WE EVEN ASKED THAT THEY CONSIDER MAKING PAYMENTS OF THE EXTRA, BUT TO NO AVAIL - THEY DIDN'T THINK IT WAS FAIR, EVEN THOUGH THE PRICE ON THE PROPOSAL/CONTRACT WAS FOR THE STATED SQUARE FOOTAGE - AND WE CAN APPRECIATE THE HOMEOWNERS FEELING THIS WAY EVEN THOUGH THEY RECEIVED SO MUCH MORE AT NO COST TO THEM IN ADDITION TO AN ANGIE'S LIST $200.00 DISCOUNT - HOWEVER THE END RESULT IS A MOST BEAUTIFUL DRIVEWAY AND SIDEWALK THAT WILL INDEED BE ENJOY AS LONG AS THEY LIVE THERE WHICH ALSO ADDS TO THE BEAUTY OF THEIR HOME AND ENVY OF THEIR NEIGHBORHOOD.

Needed a quote for a concrete driveway replaced. After the quote was received (2-3 weeks) I tried emailing and calling the company and they do not respond (been over 2 weeks since I tried to contact them). Understand this is busy season but finally gave up. If I can't get them to respond if I am trying to give them business how difficult will it be if I have issues after the work is done?

Good Morning Mr. [Member Name Removed] Thank you for your review. We did go to your home and prepared an estimate for your driveway replacement and sent copy of same to your email, to which you requested some information as to how much a decorative application to your sidewalk would cost. Our salesperson did respond to your request for ideas of the kind of decorative sidewalk per the picture you sent us. If you recall, we left a message on your phone for you to return our call in answer to whether or not we did stamp or something of the like. We did respond, gave you a price for a decorative option that we could do for you - but we never received a return call. I'm sorry but I'm sure you may have us confused with someone else Mr. [Member Name Removed] but we did followup. Yes this is the busy time of the season with many booked appointments to meet the needs of requests, but it's times like this that we make great efforts to reach out to accommodate our prospective customers. Thanks again for considering DRIVEWAYS R US for your concrete needs.

I'm sorry Ms. [Member Name Removed] is unhappy with DRIVEWAYS R US even though we did not perform any work for her. Yes, we made contact with Ms. [Member Name Removed] in early August this year and made an appointment to which she decided it was not a good time for her. I then informed her at that time that I would give her information directly to our salesperson there in Ball Ground as he lives in that area as well - no problems. He contacted her as well and made an appointment. According to our salesman, she then cancelled her appointment as well. Even though we do not receive many requests for concrete estimates in this area, it would have been easy for him to go to her place to discuss and prepare an estimate of repair as her address is not far from him. We pride ourselves on professional customer service and paying attention to details as our previous customers can attest to. I only wish Ms. [Member Name Removed] would have contacted us if she had any problems - as this was almost three months ago and we're just learning about this.

All three jobs were done to the highest standards. Also Paul and Tim were great to work with and they gave their best recommendations so the work would be completely correctly and we would be happy.
Description of Work: When a great company does great work and the product lasts the company needs to be recognized for its great work. We hired Driveways R Us in February 2007 to expand our driveway and the concrete work was fantastic. The next month (3/2007) we called them back for a concrete slab for a work shed in the back yard. We called them a third time in October 2008 for stairs in our backyard going down a slope. All three jobs were completed with the best materials and most detailed workmanship. All three jobs are as good today as they were the day they were installed. Not only would I use them again, but I recommend them with the highest confidence they would do a great job.

They replaced our driveway and completed it in one day. They were prompt, arriving when scheduled and completing the project in one day as promised. Prior to doing the work, they were accessible and responsive to our communications. In addition, they performed additional services. 1. They corrected an improper installation of the intersecting garage floor that was incorrectly done by the original builder. Their was a noticeable "lip" up to the garage from the old driveway. 2. They redirected the flow from our gutter that was causing rain runoff to flood parts of our yard. To do this, they installed a "pop-up" drain that ran under our walkway and into a better location in the yard. 3. They leveled the driveway to allow me to move my camper around with a dolly more easily. (This was a struggle prior to their work because of the slope of the driveway). 4. Without our asking, they installed a PVC conduit under the driveway to protect the wiring for our irrigation system and to allow us to run other wires under the driveway in the future. The original builder had naked wires running under the driveway.

We had a large center section of our lower driveway re-done because it had broken off and sunk about 6" from the rest of the driveway, due to settling over a number of years. Scott McClure and his team tore out the existing section, leveled out the area, added gravel, repoured concrete, sufficiently reinforcing it, and added a retaining wall. They did a great job and made it so water would drain properly off of the driveway. They also came back and added half concrete blocks along the top of the retaining wall to prevent us from driving over the edge. We also had to have our front porch totally re-done--it had been built on wood frame (some untreated) and it was falling due to the weight of the stone. Scott and his team filled in the area with gravel, tamped it down, and then poured a thick concrete pad over it. Scott worked with another highly rated Angie's List stone mason to do all of the stone work on top of the porch. Stone was installed on top of the concrete pad and steps and we had two stacked stone columns built. We are very pleased with the results. The quality of work was excellent and Scott was very responsive to any concerns we had during the project.

After doing much research and getting estimates, we chose Driveways R Us to replace our driveway. Paul was very professional and courteous in providing an estimate and scheduling the job. The job seemed to go very well, and we were very happy with our driveway until 3 days later when it rained. A complete section in front of our out building had a large puddle that would not drain. We informed Paul immediately and he sent someone out to cut the scoring deeper to possibly help with the drainage, but unfortunately that did not work. He wanted us to allow him to cut multiple scores in the concrete to encourage the drainage, but that was not an acceptable solution to us. Once we expressed that we wanted the section replaced, that is when the professionalism and courtesy ended. It took us 6 months of phone calls and emails to get the section replaced. We had to initiate almost all contact to keep us on their radar. We were constantly told that due to rain/weather delays, and waiting for another job in our area so that they would be able to use the extra concrete, that they would eventually get it done. Once the weather improved, we waited patiently for about a month with absolutely no contact. We finally again called and gave them a deadline, and then they added us to their schedule since there was conveniently another job in our area. We expressly asked that the concrete truck not be allowed on the new driveway and made sure they had access to the area where they would have to pour the new section. We were assured that the section would look the same and they were using the same concrete. When we came home to see the new section, we discovered that the concrete truck had leaked oil down the entire length of our driveway. This situation had just gone from bad to worse, especially when it was obvious that they tried to clean the spots and didn't even bother to tell us what had happened. We immediately took pictures and sent the info to Paul and Joanne. They tried to act like they didn't know about it and that they would inform Argos Concrete. Their technician came out the next day to clean with no success. After two weeks of going round and round with Driveways R US, they finally gave us the name to the concrete company and told us to deal with it. We have now been working with Argos for a month to get the spots cleaned, and they have tried several products with no luck because they were not told about the spots on the driveway until two weeks after the fact, so the spots were set. We have now been told by Derrick with Argos that they have done all they can do, and that they can not be held accountable since they told Driveways R Us that the concrete truck was leaking oil, and that they were allowed to drive the concrete truck on our driveway. He also added in parting that we should be more concerned about the section that was replaced, because it will never match the rest of the driveway. Of course our contract is with Driveways R Us, but they are refusing to take responsibility for the complete debacle this entire experience has been. Shame on us for not writing this review 8 months ago, when Driveways R Us kept putting us off, hoping we would let them off the hook. We now have a driveway with oil spots and a section that doesn't match, as well as a corner section that the concrete truck cracked. This has been a complete waste of time and energy trying to get Driveways R Us to do the right thing, not to mention all of the home projects that have been delayed waiting on the driveway issues to be resolved. We have pictures and all documentation to validate our claim. This has been a horrible experience of poor customer service and I would never recommend them to anyone if you want a vendor who actually provides service after the fact if there is a problem. RESPONSE TO PROVIDER RESPONSE 8/3/2015 We were very much aware going into this review/complaint process against Driveways R Us that there would be nothing in it for us to gain other than informing our community and neighbors of our experience with this company. Our futile efforts to communicate with this company for many months prior to this review speaks volumes in their lacking of follow up and customer service. Their account of events is terribly inaccurate and filled with untruths. At this point we are ready to put this entire horrible experience with Driveways R Us behind us and move forward with our other home improvement projects. Please consider carefully before hiring Driveways R Us for any projects.

Response from DRIVEWAYS R US
We're so sorry the Gatschenbergers are not happy with the outcome of their driveway as it turned out beautiful. When Mr. Gatschenberger contacted us about the puddle, I had one of my guys go out to where he lives and to put a small cut in the joint near the puddle to help promote drainage - to no avail. Paul told Mr. Gatschenberger afterward that he could do what is customary in situations like this is to cut one extra joint which is industry standard to allow water to run off any surface. Mr. Gatschenberger became very irate and threatening "Huffing and Puffing" in my face up close and personal in a very threatening manner because he didn't want it done. He was being very unreasonable at this point. Rather than argue with him because our warranty does not cover low spots which are commonly called "bird baths" in this industry of which I could have remedied his driveway section simply by cutting an additional joint -which would not had taken away from the appearance of the driveway, Paul told him the next time we were in the area doing a job we would come back and at our own expense to tear out and replace two sections of his driveway. As soon as we had the go ahead to complete another job near his house - as promised - Paul came out, tore out the two sections and replaced same. Before this time occurred we had several weeks - 6 weeks to be exact of rain which delayed everyone in this area in completing any outdoor projects. We never "blew or ignored" Mr. Gatschenberger. We never said anything about the color being the same PERIOD! even though the same kind of concrete was used - 4000 PSI fiber reinforced concrete. There are always variables ie weather, temperature, mixture of truck delivery. No one can get the same color. As far as the dump truck driving onto the driveway, the strength of the driveway is strong enough to withhold it. As was told to Mrs. Gatschenberger as that was her concern. But we were not made aware of the Argos cement truck leaking oil (accordingly the CDL dump truck driver is responsible to DOT pre-trip inspection) of his vehicle before he drives it on the road - let alone onto any homeowner's property. This was obviously not done as concrete truck driver would have noticed his truck had a leak and he would either have the option to operate another dump truck for delivery or have the truck he drove repaired - they are required by DOT to have and perform maintenance steps every time before putting such vehicles on the road and it is the fault of the concrete truck driver and his company (ARGOS) to make sure their vehicles are traveled in safe condition before leaving their plant for delivery. What's more, had the concrete truck driver told us that his truck was leaking oil we never would have allowed him to drive onto a new driveway - does that even make any sense? Allow a concrete dump truck onto a new driveway leaking oil?!! Really - who does that!!! What's more, ARGOS was told immediately when this happened - not two weeks later as stated in Mr. Gatschenberger's complaint. Additionally the spots were treated repeatedly with removal efforts which left faded appearance - but they will eventually fad - over time. The Gatschenberger would not give us the opportunity to discuss this with them. And as to the Gatschenbergers contacting the office, Mr. Gatschenberger contact was with Paul direct via his gmail - not the Driveways R Us email as emails sent to Paul's gmail is not received by the Driveways R Us' email. We're so sorry that the Gatschenbergers feel great discontent with this whole ordeal - as they put it "debacle" but the spots will eventually fade. We here at Driveways R Us have been in the concrete business for many many years and have a very good reputation because of our attentiveness and professionalism. But when a homeowner is not willing to listen or even consider remedies to situations (which do happens to the best of everyone), there isn't anything or much that can be done -when a remedy is recommended and cast aside. If only they would have let us cut an extra joint which is a customary industry standard in situations like this one - there would have been satisfaction all around.

Paul showed up on time to take a look at my requested project and he was very professional and helpful in providing great advice. He quickly provided a contract proposal for me to review and sign. The weather was extremely uncooperative, however Paul consistently would email me updates to let me know that he had not forgot about my project and was behind on projects due to the poor weather. Once the weather cleared up, Paul called me to let me know that he could install my concrete pad the following day. He made another visit to my house to double check what I wanted and make sure that I didn't have any concerns. The following day they proceeded to begin construction, the day after his concrete crew showed up and poured the concrete. The third day, one of his workers finished up the construction, removing the form boards and cleaning up the ground and any debris. Only after they completed the project did they request the payment. I would highly recommend Driveway's R Us!

My ?bottom line? up front: Driveways R? Us has provided us a magnificent replacement driveway. We are totally pleased with the quality of work and the supervision of the project from start to finish. Already neighbors are stopping by to ask ?who did it??! Within 24 hours of submitting the request to set up a meeting, Scott McClure, construction foreman, contacted us to arrange a meeting. Scott came out; scoped the project (large driveway and walkways to front porches); explained their construction process and standards; and provided a written cost estimate. The project took about 3 ½ days. Supervision was active as either the owner (Paul Mabry) or Scott McClure was on-site every minute. Their work crew was clearly top notch and had obvious pride in their work. Our driveway was about 20 years old and was badly cracked and stained due to poor construction standards in the early 90s (no expansion joints; wire reinforcement rather than re-bar; low psi concrete). Our new driveway is quality: 4000 psi concrete with fiber mesh reinforcement; re-bar; control expansion joints 10-12 ft. apart; and ?light broom? finish. We also opted for a paver stone apron at the front entry to our driveway to enhance curb appeal to our home. Great work by the Driveways R? Us team!

Paul, the owner, came out promptly to give me an estimate of the requested work and was very attentive to our desired changes in the configuration of the existing driveways. Followed up consistently without being intrusive while we were getting other estimates and deciding on a service provider. Once decision was made the job was scheduled promptly for the following week. Mitchell, the foreman on the job spent significant time with us explaining what was to be done and why and answered all of our questions thoroughly. He insisted on meticulous detail in performing and finishing the job and all of the crew members worked diligently to complete the job in punctual manner and with a high level of professionalism and quality work. We are extremely pleased with the final results and would highly recommend Driveways R Us to anyone.

It went extremely well. The broken pipe was removed and replaced with a longer steel pipe, dirt, rebar and gravel was added to bring it up to grade and then concreted over with a 4 inch pad. This was all done while I was away on vacation which was wonderful as this driveway was the only access to my house which sits about 200-300 feet away. It would have been a daily hike without the efforts of Paul and his team.
Description of Work: Paul came out and checked out the culvert drain that ran under my driveway that was broken and sinking.

First off, dealing with Driveways R Us is a family affair, and what a wonderful family the Mabry's are. We contacted them through Angie's List via email and Shannon called us back within the hour. Making an appointment for an estimate was quick, easy and without obligation. She was a pleasure to work with, listened patiently to our long wish list and took plenty of notes. As with most home improvement projects, there are the things you need (like a retaining wall, walkways and driveway replacement) and the things you'd like to have. Then there's the budget. We got a quote back quickly which was broken down by category. We weren't surprised that the extent of our wishes surpassed our budget. Paul, Shannon's dad stepped in with a half dozen ideas that we hadn't considered and showed us how we could get the most done for our budget without sacrificing on quality. This brings me to the work which I can only describe as fantastic. The crews were amazing to watch and experienced at what they they were doing. Paul himself was on hand when the cement trucks started to show up and supervised all of the pour. The finished product can only be described as old world craftmanship, the cleanup was superb (they even power washed the mud and dirt from the middle street) and overall we couldn't be happier. If all contractors were like the Mabry's there would be no need for an Angie's List. Before I forget, JoAnne in the office was coordinating and communicating with us throughout the entire job. Like I said, a family business that we will surely be working with again.
Description of Work: New driveway, new retaining wall, new walkways from driveway, two pads and a patio concrete slab.

+++ Driveways R Us was punctual in regard to all our interaction (responding to our request for an estimate, making the appointment, and completing the project). All workmen were courteous and professional. I received two other estimates, Driveways R Us was the best priced, but more than when Paul M. met with me about the project, he demonstrated a thorough knowledge and competence. I have some construction experience and Paul's descripiton of the work and advice secured my confidence. The workmen also demonstrated a competence and skill. Before leaving the job, the area was cleaned up. We are very satisfied with the quality of the work and our experience. Highly recommend Driveways R Us.

I began my Angies list search and choose 4 vendors to ask to quote. Three responded. Of the three Scott provided me with the most extensive consultation, helpful suggestions, straightforward answers to my questions, and a warm feeling. He took measurements, went to his car and delivered a quote about 45 minutes later. I was still waiting for one of the three that responded. The quote seemed reasonable, as it contained all of the work detailed above. About two days later We signed the deal. About a week later Scott called and asked if the could begin the job earlier than we had discussed. On the day work was to begin Scott arrived at about 6:30, the crew and the Kubota a little later, a gang of 5 workers, and Paul, Joanne's husband who piloted the grader with an expert touch. 40 year shrubs were pulled: three feet of earth was moved and spread to redirect water in my backyard to keep it away from the patio and yard, and stone was brought in for the retaining wall and patio base. Paul asked me to come out as he had a suggestion. He thought the specified 62' retaining wall would flow better if it had two gentle curves. It makes an amazing difference. Later another knock and I was told it would be better to step the patio to tie in to the existing porch, again an excellent suggestion. A third suggestion was a curb to ensure that during a heavy rain water did not over flow. The pours took place over two days, and Scott who provided the consultation and quotes was there with boots on both days. Paul was there most of the time. I counted three loads of concrete and two loads of gravel, and probably missed some. The finishing is excellent. On average I think I had 5 guys working for 4 days for 9 hours a day. I had the Kubota tied up and worked hard, a dump truck that made many trips and the rear sidewalk, which was brick was removed and the brick stacked behind my shed. Downspout drains were buried under the sidewalk so water doesn't run over the sidewalk in front, a rear down spout was buried for 30 feet to keep water way from the house. All debris was removed, the road was even washed. Scott also had a 2' x 3' pad poured for me that I will use for an outdoor sink. We have had a rain since the job was completed and I am happy to report that the grading redirects the water away from the house, the pitch and slope of the patio, side walks, and driveway is perfect. No low spots or puddles anywhere. It was a real pleasure dealing with a company where the Owner JoAnne answers the phone, Paul does the earthmoving and detail work, and Scott who quoted the job pushed concrete. Their involvement shows in the final product. Excellent job for an excellent price

Paul Mabry, the owner, impressed us as an honest man who would stand by his word. His price was the best of all the estimates we received, and he did what he said he would do. We are pleased with the new driveway, and Paul was quick to respond to minor issues we had after his work was completed. The only downside of the work was the difference in level between the driveway and the lawn, as the driveway is now about two inches higher than the lawn and the lawn will need to be brought up to level with the driveway - not an easy task!
Description of Work: Removed our original driveway, walks and patio and poured new.
