REPAIRS ON LEAKS LOCATED IN RESIDENTIAL OR COMMERCIAL PLUMBING LINES (LIMITED TO REPAIRS ON POOL-AFFILIATED LEAKS). DETECTION SERVICE THAT CAN LOCATE ROOFING OR FOUNDATION LEAKS.
Despite what it says on their website and the vans driving around town, this company does NOT locate utility lines. I called and the lady who answered the phone was very nice, but even after checking with "more experienced coworkers", was very adamant that this is not a service they offer. You should take this off your website and vehicle graphics.

Super unprofessional! As a pool builder and industry professional, we used this company for years to do leak detection. WE called this week to try to get emergency service (even offered to pay more) for a major leak on a pool, we were NOT asking them to fix just to locate leak. I had the number of a technician from this company who did this service for my personal pool, he gave me his number and said if I ever needed anything to call him. My receptionist called me and told me they could not get there for 10 days, so I called this technician and I asked if he could pull some strings to get to this pool a little faster as it was losing a lot of water (not a small leak) and with cold temps it was pretty important. There are so many of these companies out there, but we have used this one for a few years and typically were happy with their response time, instead of calling me to ask what my conversation was with the tech (who I asked to try to move us up the schedule, I did NOT ask him to come on his personal time or circumvent the office, I offered to pay an emergency fee to the COMPANY not him directly) the manager wrote a nasty e mail stating we will never work for you again. OK that is fine, plenty of other reputable companies, but apparently MICHELLE at American Leak Detect in Atlanta likes to shoot off nasty e mails without any facts, I would guess that if they provide customer service this way that perhaps their quality of service in the field may match and perhaps best we find another company . My next call was to Atlanta Leak Pros, and WOW what a difference, they can get to us quickly and they are professional. I would say ditch American Leak Detection and try Atlanta Leak Pros for your leak detection needs, this way you don't inconvenience Michelle by interrupting her day.

It was an easy process from making the initial contact to completion of the work....couldn't be happier. The plumbing company that came the next day was able to complete the repair by replacing about four feet of copper tubing with flexible, heavy duty PEX piping that fully corrected the problem. We were very pleased with the work done at our house!!
Description of Work: We had a leak in the service from the street to our house that we confirmed by seeing whether the street meter leak indicator (spinning arrow) was turning even when we turned the water off at the meter box next to the street. The gentleman that came out was able to confirm the location of the leak in roughly an hour and flagged the location so the plumber that came out the next day could complete the repair. We were very pleased with the timeliness of the response to our request and the work that was done!

This was the ultimate in honesty and customer service. I was referred to American by a plumber who is actually doing work on my neighbors house. Rather than quickly taking my money and scheduling services, Ron from American talked me through potential scenarios that could fix or isolate the source of the leak. A few hours later I had isolated the issue and was no longer in need of Americans' services. I appreciate the honesty and customer care that American gave me even without using them. I have already recommended them to my neighbor who definitely needs their services. I just wanted to say thank you for all the help.
Description of Work: I spoke with Ron who before volunteering to make an appointment and come out, took me through some troubleshooting procedures to determine the source of the problem. He was extremely detailed and helpful. The information he gave me allowed me to troubleshoot my own problem without requiring their services

The technician says that the leak was between the toilet and the vanity, but in the middle of the floor, which is about 4-5 feet from the wall. Also, the technician DID NOT mark the place where he says the leak was, he just wrote it in the report. When the plumber (Majestic Plumbing) came to repair the leak, they found out that it was actually in the wall, which is where the tenant said it was, just using her ears. The distance was enough that we would have incurred an additional charge, but Majestic waived the additional charge. We could have saved $380 if we had just used the tenant's ears instead of ALD. All that professional equipment seemed to be a complete waste of time and money. Would never recommend American Leak Detector.
Description of Work: Search for a leak in the slab in our home. The resident had identified it as being in the wall near the bathroom. Technician from American Leak Detectors (ALD) came out, did tests, and filed a report that the lead was in the middle of the bathroom floor.

They were a very good company to work with. They were professional. He found the leak and he put up a little flag. The plumber came out and dug where the flag was straight to the leak then he had to go down about 12 inches to get to it. I would recommend them to anybody else. I've never heard of them until a plumbing company told us about them.

Customer had a water leak that the county had noticed so it was our job to restore that service but with the 800 plus feet of water lines we didn't know where to begin without an obvious pool of water to be seen so the man from American Leak came at the scheduled time and in a few hours he was able to find our break in the line within 40 inches. They saved us time and money and remember it takes money to make money.

I recently moved into a new house and called American Leak Detection because I was having very high water bills for a household of 1. On the first call I had to leave a message on the answering machine. No one called me back for a couple of days so I called again. The man apologized saying they're not usually like that. I told him that during my home inspection the inspector had all the water to the house shut off but that the meter was still turning slightly and that I should have it checked. I figured I would give it a few months to see how my water bills were. They have been increasing slightly for several months in a row now. I don't have a sprinkler system as do some of my neighbors, whose water bills are less than mine. ALD said they would send someone out to read the meter on two separate days. After finally doing so, they emailed me that the meter was consistently turning very slightly indicating water usage of approx. 36 gallons per day possibly from running toilet or dripping faucet. I have neither as I had my plumber check. I called back to say, again, what the home inspector said and my contact said and quot;oh, we didn't know that.and quot; I mentioned this on my initial call. I also said I felt there was maybe a small leak underground and isn't that what their company does....find leaks? He was going to see about technician coming out again on Saturday when I was home but I haven't seen or heard from anyone. I emailed my contact again and asked him to let me know one way or the other if they are going to help me. It's been over 24 hrs and still no response. I feel they are very flighty and unprofessional. It definitely doesn't do much for my confidence in their ability to actually find a leak. Now I will call the other leak detection company like my plumber suggested in the first place. Terrible way to run a business.

After contacting the company, a service attendant promptly scheduled a service for a technician to come by. She explained me that the charges would be $365.00 for the trip including the first 2 hours and additional charges would apply after that. I thought that the initial charges was a little high but, she assure me that they would use sophisticated equipment in the hands of very well trained technicians and that they could detect leaks effectively. That was in fact the case. When the technician arrived, he conducted a very effective trouble shooting without using the sophisticated equipment but, showing knowledge and experience since, in less than half an hour he pointed out to the source of the problem. I think so far, that the problem has been completely identified and solved by repairing the ice maker.
Description of Work: Technician arrived and monitored water meter. Found the ice machine draining water. Turned ice machine off and water draining stoped. Water meter stopped completely. Technician recommended to check ice machine for maintenance or repair.

After months of trying to figure out where our water was going (thousands of extra gallons per month of fresh water), we finally called the folks at Atlanta Leak Detection. They arrived, searched, located the leak and helped us understand what to do next. Very well done!
Description of Work: A real life saver! We could not have located the leak in our front yard without Atlanta Leak Detection. The leak was buried beneath our front courtyard and we had been losing thousands of gallons of water each month. He was able to determine where the leak was within about an hour using electronic leak detection. It was difficult, cold and wet but he kept working until he found the leak! He also located our "lost" pressure reducing valve which was buried near the front of our house. Expert work, professional attitude and super fair price. I hope we never have another leak, but if we do, we will call Atlanta Leak Detection without hesitation.

Unfortunately the technician was unable to find the leak so he just drew a large circle covering half of my driveway and said that it was somewhere within that circle. It made it very difficult for the plumber and therefore the plumber had to dig up a very large hole in my driveway. The leak ended up being slightly beyond the edge of the large circle drawn by the technician. It was really just a waste of money.
Description of Work: There was a water line leak underneath my driveway. They came out to identify where the leak was so that the plumber could come out and repair it.

Response from American Leak Detection - Atlanta
We appreciate and act on all customer input and complaints, and appreciate the opportunity to respond. The member contacted us on August 6, 2010 about a possible leak under her driveway and we were able to send a technician to her home the same day. The plumbing company who referred the member to us is a very reputable firm which we do a lot of work for and is a prime referral source. They always contact us with issues or concerns, but on this job they did not reach out with any negative comment or complaint. Our technician indeed marked a spot in the driveway using black chalk, as the meter box was located in the concrete driveway of the townhome. According to the technician's extensive notes from the job, the pipe (where the water line leak was later located) was made of blue poly and the PRV was faulty. These circumstances combined may have contributed to less than ideal conditions for "exact leak pinpointing." The area marked was within five feet from the actual leak location, which did narrow the search for the second plumber that was later called by the member to repair the job. We billed the member $375, which the menber paid (with no objection or complaint) and not the $1,200 listed as an approximate cost in the complaint.

It's a treat to recommend an honest and ethical company such as this one. I contacted American Leak Detection at the recommendation of a plumber after he determined that there was a water leak in my home's slab. Paul arrived on schedule, discussed the problem and my previous plumbing troubles (house was built with gray polybutylene pipe that leaks and has needed multiple repairs). He recommended that I skip his services and not fix this one problem, but that instead I should put the money toward re-piping the entire house. He made a lot of sense, and I ended up doing exactly that. He was proven right when, as the plumbers started to replace the old pipes, one of them burst when it was simply touched! I can't tell you how much I appreciate their honesty and integrity. Paul could have simply detected the leak, collected his fee, and left me with a growing problem. Instead he applied his experience and offered me a better solution that resulted in less income for him and the company. Everyone that I spoke with at this company was friendly, courteous, and helpful. I would definitely recommend them to friends!
Description of Work: Contacted company to determine source of water leak in the slab foundation of my house. They went beyond the scope of what I asked and recommended repairs that ultimately saved me costly repairs and water damage.

I probably could not have found the leak without them, but I'm not sure they would have found the leak themselves if my irrigation professional had not been there at the same time. I can't say that I was overly impressed, but they were OK.
Description of Work: I had a leak in my irrigation system that was hard to find. American Leak Detection has equipment that many others don't have, but they only promise to find the leak - not fix it. They have a $400 (approx.) minimum charge, but they actually came twice and only charged me this amount once. The first time the person knew virtually nothing about irrigation systems. The next time my irrigation guy was there at the same time and together he and American Leak Detection were able to find the source of the leak.

They were very thorough and professional. Once they detected the problem, they recommended several problem resolutions. We had our plumber fix the problem.
Description of Work: We had several unusually high water bills, so we suspected we had a water leak somewhere. They came to our home twice, searching for the leak. They used special equipment, to isolate where the leak was coming originating. When the first person did not detect a leak, he suggested a second experte come back to help; Through further problem isolation we were able to determine where the problem was. They used special listening equipment, and pressure assistance equipment.

Very professional. Arrived at the exact time prescribed. Found the leak. When I said it looked like I would like to fix it (the leak was easy to get to without jackhammering concrete), tech gave me advice about how to fix it, and how to pressure test the fix on my own. I do feel like the price was a bit steep for the 1.75 hour job, but to be truthful, I did not shop this job around so I don't know the comparable prices.
Description of Work: Located a leak in my pool's return plumbing, and pressure tested the rest of the return system. My pool was empty, so the quote on the phone was $245. They mentioned it would have been $275 if my pool had been full of water (at least that is how I understood it).
