31-W INSULATION CO

This company contracts with Costco locally to install garage doors. I called the # provided by Costco and was called back by 31W. An appointment was scheduled for a representative to come out and review garage door choices and to provide a quote for the installation. We immediately decided that we would use 31W for our new garage door as they had the best price for essentially the same product as other quotes we had received. We told the representative that we wished to put off placing our order for several weeks. A few weeks later I recieved a call from 31W and they said they were following up on our inquiry. I said that we were ready to place our order and they said we would recieve a call to set up an appointment. Because we were doing this through Costco the entire price has to be paid at the time of the order. When the rep came out he was a different one than had come before and he was under the impression that he was there to do a quote. I showed him the original quote and he said that the # 's were wrong, that the company had no record of the quote and he would have to work up a new one. Apparently, the original sales rep had left the company. Ultimately, we reached an agreement with them after much haggling but the price wound up being about $300 more than was originally quoted. I will say that the price was still hundreds of dollars less than other quotes and this is why we went with 31W in spite of the issues we experienced. The installation was performed shortly thereafter. The installation installation went smoothly although the tech was late in arriving and didn't have the proper materials and had to return to the shop for them. There are some minor issues with the door/opener. I wouldn't say not to use them but I would say that you should make sure that the price is firm and act quickly before they change staff or prices.

I ordered the garage door from Costco and they subcontracted with 31-W. The man who came out to give an estimate was very friendly and professional. He gave me what I consider to be good prices for a new door, opener, and installation. The door I ordered was not in stock, so I had to wait 3 weeks to get it installed, and since I ordered through Costco, I had to pay upfront. I really don't like paying that kind of money and then waiting for the product, but I have to say it was worth it. The door looks great and I don't know if it is the door or the new opener or a combination of both (most likely) but it is SO quiet and smooth. Quite a difference from what I had before. As it turned out, I had to leave while they were finishing up and couldn't do an inspection once they were done. I called today (installation was yesterday) because the guy forgot to replace the door panel which goes next to the door to my house. The one I have now is hard to push and for the kind of money I paid, I would like a new one! I spoke with the manager and he is sending someone out here tomorrow - he said it will only take a few minutes. He was very friendly and agreeable and I really appreciate him taking care of it so quickly. I will definitely recommend them to anyone who needs a new door (and opener)!!
