TERRIBLE, do not hire this clown! I sent a letter to the BBB, explaining he is an idiot, and should not be able to bilk others out of their money. He sent in a rebuttal letter, and the BBB closed the case! I tried to re-open it after winning in court, but they would not allow it!
Description of Work: Prior to hiring Camden Plumbing, I actually went to the Better Business Bureau website, and came across two different ratings. One was with Gerald Dukes (a Master Plumber), and the other was Buzzy Dukes (NOTHING). We found out after it was all over, Buzzy had taken over his father's business after he passed away. So no one at that company has any licenses what so ever!. We now think he has changed his company name, and works out of St. Simons Island and Brunswick, Ga. As soon as I find out the new company, I will post it. He was hired because my wife saw water dripping out of a wall in our garage, and it turns out that the Master Bath shower is on the other side. One of his "Cronies" came out, cut a hole in the wall, and said that it was coming out of the shower. Buzzy Dukes came out the following Monday, and gave us an estimate, for completely gutting out our tile step in shower, removing the sheetrock, the waterproof underlayer, and the shower pan, the re-installing all new replacements. I specifically asked him if he had the staff to complete a project of this size, and if he was bonded. He said YES to both, and would bring me a copy of his bond later (should have been a red flag, a reputable contractor has all his paperwork with him). We had decided, that as long as we were going to tear out the majority of our bathroom, we would have the floor re-tiled also. The total of all this work was at about $4000.00. We gave him a check for 1/2 up front, and he said he would complete the job in about 3-4 weeks. We agreed for him to start on the following Monday. His crew showed up promptly and started the demolition, and it turns out that the shower that was installed when we had the house built, was defective. Everything was covered with mold, including the wooden 2x4's! (Oh, the smell!). Everything had to come out all the way to back to about 1/2 way around our garden tub. The demolition kept up, while they were tracking mold, sawdust, drywall, etc. all over the back half of the house. My wife started to place blankets on the floor where they were walking outside of the bathroom and into the garage (He had nothing to put down), then he had nothing to clean up the room each night, so I let him use my 20 gal. wet-vac (which he eventually ruined). My insurance company came out twice, to see the damage, and to talk with Mr. Dukes, and things seem to be progressing slowly. The demo finally was completed, and we didnt see him for a couple of days, then he would show up, then disappear again (You see the pattern). OK, FF to the start of the rebuild. He had no one that could frame up the shower! OOPS! FF again, he was suposed to order a glass shower door, but he said he couldn't find any. I made ONE phone call, and had oneI had him amend the contract, so I could buy one, have it installed, and he would reimburse me. My insurance company finally sent me a check for what they were going to pay for, so I agreed with Buzzy Dukes, that when he got to about 90% completed, I would give him the rest of what we owed. I figured that he would be more motivated to complete the job. He got to about 80%, and I made the mistake of paying him 3/4 of the balance. Then he basically stopped showing up. I called numerous times, and when I made calls from a different phone (Caller ID!) and he did answer, he would argue with me about what was remaining to be done. He did have someone come out to start working on the "Shoe-molding" that covers where the tile meets the wall, but the guy did not know how to cut angles, I had him stop. The rest of the story is, he basically refused to come out and finish the job. I hired someone else to finish the job, and took him to court for $1170.00 that I felt he was overpaid for the work he did, won the case, and could not collect a dime. He has since declaired bankruptcy, and now I can collect nothing.
