+ 0 moreIt went amazingly smooth. I was very apprehensive at the thought of not having a functioning kitchen for a period of time, with a busy family to feed. Richard timed the deliveries and installs so meticulously that I was only without some form of cooking for 2-3 days max. Unheard of! I spoke with many of my friends who had gone thru this and prepared me to be without a kitchen for weeks and I was terrified. That was not my experience at all with Hortman & Associates. It was timed with military precision and I could not be happier. Richard and Beth helped me with the big decisions of cabinet color, counter materials and colors, flooring etc. My kitchen is GORGEOUS! It has now been over a year, 2 holiday cooking seasons and my kitchen is still my favorite room in the house and I have had no issues. I wish I had done it sooner, but other peoples horror stories had made me hesitate. I am so glad my friend told me about Hortman and Associates because it was nothing but great!
Description of Work: It was time to replace the dated 1990's kitchen in our home. It was a complete gut job, we took it down to the studs and rebuilt from there. New floors, new cabinets, counters, sinks, lights, electrical, molding. You name it, we replaced it!

+ -1 moreHad several meetings with Richard before work begun to establish plan and get overall idea of design and cost. He was instructive but in no way pushy and incorporated readily all my must haves. I picked out granite, fixtures, flooring....then Terry,his marvelous carpenter and assistant would collect them. I was always comfortable with his subcontractors and simply left him my keys. Price did not overrun and he finished at budget. He was available promptly with the tree situation and had that resolved very efficiently....I am pleased.
Description of Work: Gutted and redid entire kitchen incorporating that useless little third bedroom Atlanta ranch houses have between the kitchen and the hall. Put in island, flooring, countertops, cabinetry, and all new appliances. Was responsive to questions and concerns....and finished on time. Had asked him for referrals and he gave me the name of a neighbor, before unknown to me, who said, " I loved working with Richard Hortman. He started when he said he would and he finished when he said he would." I can only agree. He also coordinated the repairs when a big Atlanta tree entered the living room uninvited during a fierce storm. He worked with the insurance company and got roof, driveway, door and ceiling redone and restored. Yes, I would happily call him again and am pleased to offer our house as a reference.

+ 0 moreWithout a hitch. I had asked Richard for a referral and he gave me the name of a woman in my neighborhood. When asked she said she loved working with Richard Hortman, and I had never heard that about a contractor. He started on time, he ended on time and he finished at estimated cost. I truly trust this company.
Description of Work: This was a complete redo of a kitchen with incorporation of a small den and I was and still am well pleased. They were times, professional, and remarkably tidy. All appliances, flooring, cabinetry, and countertops were included and the only delay came when an ordered a cabinet was defective and had to be replaced. Richard Hortman is a perfectionist and that is a good thing. He offers helpful suggestions and pays meticulous attention to detail. A year or so after the a kitchen redo a number of trees came down in a storm and we had a tree in the living room. Richard and Terry Hindsman (his marvelous carpenter associate) handled this mess and again I was most pleased. This of course involved dealing with the insurance company and it went seamlessly.

+ -1 moreMr. Hortman is extremely meticulous. They are top professionals and it really shows in the high quality work they do. We have used them on several occasions for a variety of jobs, large and small. I have recommended them highly for years.
Description of Work: They remodeled the entire downstairs of our home which totals 2,500 square foot. They redesigned the area and moved walls. They performed all phases of the job, from demolition to finishing touches.
