I met Carol while relocating from upstate New York. I was on a tight timetable and needed to see the available properties in the Athens area and come to a decision within a week. Carol worked with me every day and showed me homes that were in the price range and locations that I wanted. In the first three days we had seen well over two dozen homes in Athens and Watkinsville area, found the one that was right, negotiated a bid and got an accepted offer. Then Carol arranged for the inspection, drew up and got signatures on a purchase contract and started the due diligence process. From that point on I was on my way back to upstate New York while Carol managed things in Athens. I was nervous about not being present. I didn’t need to be. The inspection had uncovered problems with the roof due to hidden water damage and with the age and condition of the heat pump. Carol met with the roofers at least three times, got multiple bids for a new roof, and duplicated all these efforts again to replace the heat pump, then, she worked out adjustments with the seller to share in the costs. During all of this she was in constant contact be phone and email so I was always informed. I never had to ask for assistance. Carol always took the initiative. Carol was a great person to work with. She was always available to answer our phone calls or e-mails. Always willing to accommodate us in finding people to check out things about the house we bought. Carol was immensely helpful in buying our house late this past year (2013). With my partner living in another city at the time, she was more than willing to work with our limited schedule and take us to houses in the time frames we could give her. She was very knowledgeable of the areas in which we were looking and was quick to point out which areas would help or hurt our most important buying factor: resale value. Carol was quick to return any call or email and was always working to ensure that each step in the buying process went as smoothly as possible. She also worked with online document-signing so that my partner and I could sign documents while we were in different cities. Carol Bitner was great to work with. My partner has lived in the area for over a year while I worked to sell my house.
