MID STATE POOLS & SPAS INC

We spent a very large amount of money with Barrett and Mid State Pools for my custom pool and hot tub. Let me begin by saying that Mid State cut as many corners as possible starting with the concrete pool decking which is now breaking away from the pool and the coping causing multiple large cracks that have now spread all over the pool decking. The large cracks have also made the filter lids not fit on properly. Second, is the two VERY small drains they installed in the decking that aren't large enough to drain properly causing the decking to flood every time it rains. Thirdly, we were having issues with the pool lighting system working with the Jandy system (both of which Mid State installed) we made multiple calls before a technician was finally sent out only for him to tell us the two systems were not compatible. Nothing was ever done to rectify this problem or any other for that matter. The Jandy system Mid State installed has never worked at a 100%. We have had to replace the pool pump, Polaris pump, and multiple cells to keep it working. Barrett and Mid State Pools has given nothing but excuse after excuse and no resolutions to our issues. Once Barrett and Mid State Pools gets your money you can forget them standing behind any of their work. I highly recommend choosing another pool company for your pool installation.

After 3x trips to the store, 1x visit from a MidState crew, and a trip to their distributor...I still do not have the correct hardware. I have dealt with MidState since 2006 and have never had a project go smoothly (or quickly). If I never again use their products or services it will be a Thousand years to soon. If you have an abundance of patience and (very) deep pockets you may be happy with them...otherwise, don't be fooled by the store/showroom, I wouldn't trust them to test pool water...

They were absolutely fabulous! We had to wait about 30 days to get started, due to a rainy summer, but once they got started, the entire install was completed within 2-3 weeks. Jake and his crew were at my house everyday by 7am and gave me a breakdown of the work that would be completed each day. It was amazing to watch the progress of a pool installation. Although it took 2-3 weeks to complete, the crew completed the install in 8 work days. We chose the ozone pool which uses fewer chemicals than a standard or saltwater pool. The total cost included a much wider deck than Midstate normally provides (their standard end deck is 8 ft and we requested 16 ft), concrete steps as opposed to plastic, a swim out ledge, diving board and colored quikcrete decking that stays cool in the heat. After the pool was built, Midtstate was required to grade the backyard, but we were not happy with the amount of dirt that was left behind. They came out and removed the excess dirt at no extra cost. This was a huge job as they ended up removing over 10 dump trucks full. About one year after the pool was built, we had a leak with our pool equipment that required replacement of a major component. I called Jake and the problem was immediately corrected, at no cost to me. My only complaint was in the design process. I was expecting someone to sit down with me and help me make decisions about our choices, maybe even providing a computerized graphic. That didn't happen. It was pretty much left up to me to design and layout the pool and then tell them what I wanted. If you decide to install a pool, be ready for some major surprises. Your yard will look like a bomb was dropped on it, because you have dump trucks driving through your entire yard. We had very little grass left, once the pool was completed and it took us around 6-8 months to get the yard back in order. Also, the weight of the concrete trucks WILL crack your driveway. We knew this from the get go, so we were happy that our driveway only had minor damage. I would definitely recommend Midstate pools.

If we had any problems with it they came out right away and fixed it.

My husband and I bought a Fannie Mae foreclosure that had been empty and neglected over the past 2years. I have been told that the pool, at one time, was an actual swamp with its own ecosystem! While the selling realtor for Fannie Mae replaced the pump and shocked the pool, there was still lots of work needed on the pool. We actually met with Michelle (Mid State Pools) prior to closing to fix the existing liner so we could pass inspection for closing. That process went so well that we decided to use them for the upgrades we were going to need. Once we were finally able to close, Michele met us at the house with samples and an estimate. The actual work was postponed due to weather, but once started, the process was EXCELLENT! The crew came out and in the first day (Saturday) were able to refurbish the steps, remove the old liner and put in the new one. After allowing the steps to cure for 48hrs and the pool to partially fill, the rest of the work was completed on Monday. We met with Michele the following week to settle the bill and get lessons on the salt system and the robotic cleaner. This company has been in business for a very long time and the workers at my house had been with Mid State for many, many years. They really knew what they were doing--a good thing because we are novices when it comes to pools--and made us feel very confident that we had chosen the right company. I will be using Mid State Pools and Spas for all my pool needs.

They came out and replaced the liner but didnt install a pressure relief valve as I asked. After about a year the liner began separating in the corners. I asked several times for them to come out and they never did. Eventually they just said they wont come out. As I expected without the relief valve, water started to collect under the pool. Eventually the liner completely separated. It was installed in Spring of 04, started separating Winter of 05. They denied to help me early 06 and completely fell apart Spring of 06.
