+ -1 moreGreat job, start to finish. I wish all service providers were as pleasant to work with and totally focused on doing a difficult job right. We will definitely hire them again if the need arises, and have recommended them to our neighbors without reservation.
Description of Work: Goodyear took down a huge oak, a mature pine, and some smaller trees. The oak took two hours, the pine took only a few minutes. Russell and his crew did a masterful job - they did not harm a leaf on any other tree or plant nearby, an amazing accomplishment, considering the oak was in the middle of a garden! They were completely professional, highly skilled, and were considerate of my neighbors as well, who needed clear passage on the street. They cleaned up as they went along, even bringing a plastic jug to catch drips from one piece of machinery so it wouldn't stain my driveway. They cut up several tree limbs as firewood, and stacked it neatly. The stump grinder came later, as promised, and also did a fantastic job, not harming any surrounding plants and leaving a tidy pile of mulch. UPDATE: We hired Goodyear Tree & Stump Service a second time in September 2010 to take down another tall oak, and again the service was flawless in every area. Caution: there is another company with a similar name operating in this area; hire Russell Pearson to get the outstanding service described here.

+ -1 moreDoes NOT have worker's comp insurance, just general liability. Worker's insurance is a must have if I'm going to have somebody doing work like this on my house. Owner says he signs a waiver that if someone in his employ gets injured (or killed) on the job the homeowner will not be held liable. Well, the law does not work this way. The homeowner can be sued by the injured worker (or the family of the worker). No thank you. I was led to believe that this company had worker's comp insurance and was ready to schedule the work until I finally received the insurance information and saw that they do not have this very important insurance. Also, it took a few requests from me to get the insurance info -- owner was not responsive in providing me this information.
Description of Work: No work performed due to owner's lack of worker's comp insurance!

+ 0 more. Russell and the team were very professional. The office emailed me a copy of their insurance certificate without being asked to do so. Russell says it's their policy to satisfy the customer's concern about insurance even if the customer doesn't actually voice this concern. . The foreman agreed to accomplish the work in my absence. I gave him a check before I departed and he said that it wouldn't be deposited until I let the office know that the work was completed satisfactorily. . I indicated "N/A" in Price because I've used this company before, saw that they had an excellent record on Anglie's, was very satisfied with work accomplished 13 years ago and didn't want to seek bids from other companies. . Needless to say there were no additional charges beyond those identified in the estimate.
Description of Work: . Removed a Weeping Willow tree that had fallen against the roof during one of our recent storms. . Removed 2 large (approximately 80 foot tall) trees that were dying and/or threatening to tumble onto the house. . Removed yard waste from some of my projects (@ no extra cost). . Removed an evergreen tree growing up the wall of the house (that the landscaper thought was a minature variety but *wasn't*). . Spread mulch from the chipper around the wooded area at the back of the house to improve the appearance of the ground (@ no extra cost). . All stumps were ground down.

They removed all the debris from their work - in fact my deck and driveway were cleaner when they left than it was when they arrived. They also cut the wood that we wanted to keep into fireplace size pieces. I was very pleased with their service.
Description of Work: They removed 4 trees from our front yard, one large tree from our back yard and several large limbs from other trees that were overhanging our house. Also ground all stumps from removed trees.

+ -1 moreI am a real estate investor with multiple homes around Metro Atlanta. I had a large tree leaning over the deck of a Powder Springs house. It's branches were laying on the roof and chimney. I called someone I had used in the past to remove trees from the yard of my personal home in Marietta. His business is located in Lawrenceville and he did not want to travel to Powder Springs. I decided to join Angie's List and review their recommendations for tree removal services. I called five companies within a reasonable driving distance to Powder Springs. Each contractor drove to the house and did a visual inspection of the tree. I received bids as high as $575 and as low as $275. The scope of work was very specific and they were all bidding on the same job. I was amazed at the range of prices!
Description of Work: Russell, from Goodyear Tree and Stump Removal Services, Inc. was timely in his response to my initial phone inquiry. He looked at the tree on a weekend and called me from the site to discuss what I wanted to have done. I was quite specific about not having any equipment on the property. I asked for the tree to be cut in sections and dragged to the street in front of the house and hauled away. I did not ask for the stump to be ground. I asked him to fax me a detailed proposal, and he did. Today, he performed the job and did exactly what we agreed he would do. After the tree was down, he used blowers to clean up the debris. He called me to say the job was complete and gave me a mailing address so I could send him a check. My tenant said that the entire job, from start to finish, took about 20 minutes. His price was $275. He was professional and pleasant to deal with, and I now have a tree removal company that I will use as needed. I highly recommend Russell and his company for tree removal and trimming.

+ -1 moreRussell's crew arrived on time and did a great job. They were careful not to injure a tall hedge when taking out a dead tree behind it. Had to cut a tree to fall over a fence without damaging the fence. They even took some dead branches out of additional trees without additional charge. Large oaks and Tulip Poplars look really good after they were pruned. Cleaned everything up, including blowing off driveway.
Description of Work: Remove four dead trees (medium to large Dogwoods), raise canopy on several large trees, remove dead branches from several trees.

He gave me his open and honest opinion about which trees should be removed, and which ones were okay to stay. He gave me a very good price for the job and was able to quickly get me on his schedule. The workers were all friendly and they did an outstanding job. My yard was not damaged, and the surrounding trees and shrubs were not damaged. They did a good job cleaning up the debris. Looks great!
Description of Work: One large oak tree, two medium sized oak trees, and 2 small trees were removed. The larger trees required the use of a crane which they brought on site.

+ -1 moreI can't say enough good about these guys. They arrived on time as promised with all necessary equipment and manpower to do the job. It was done professionally, quickly and safely. Not only did they cleanup as promised, they also cleaned up some existing debris that was there before their arrival. They even cut down an additional tree at no charge to me. They have just recently been bought out by another company and they are sure to maintain their customer database. They will retain their name: Goodyear.
Description of Work: Removed 4 complete trees ( one at no charge ) and limbs from others overhanging the house.

His team onsite was professional and amazing in removing the huge limbs hanging over both homes. They completed all the work requested, and left the yard cleaner then when they arrived.

+ -1 moreGoodyear was professional and thorough in removing a Bradford Pear that had a major portion of its trunk split and fall across our driveway. I cut up enough of the fallen portion to move it to the side to allow access to and from the garage. Goodyear removed the remaining portion of the tree (the tree was quite large at approximately 30-35' in height and 12-16' across) and ground up all limbs. In addition, they removed 3 large stumps from shrubs that had been cut down last fall. All debris was taken away, and the area was cleaned up satisfactorily considering the day before had been a big downpour.
Description of Work: Removed a large Bradford Pear, ground the stump and cut off 3 shrub stumps at ground level. Removed all debris and cleaned up area.

THEY CAME OUT TO GIVE ME AN ESTIMATE THE DAY AFTER I CALLED, AND GOT A CREW OVER TO DO THE WORK LATER THAT SAME AFTERNOON. I DO WISH THEY'D ACTUALLY COMPLETELY REMOVED ONE TREE THAT WAS NEAR MY FOUNDATION RATHER THAN SIMPLY CUT IT OFF NEAR THE GROUND, BUT IN FAIRNESS TO THEM, I APPROVED THE WORK WITHOUT CLOSELY INSPECTING IT, AND I DID NOT CALL THEM BACK AND ASK THEM TO RETURN. THE CREW DID THE WORK VERY QUICKLY, AND THE CREW LEADER WAS POLITE AND PROFESSIONAL.
Description of Work: THEY REMOVED A SMALL, DEAD TREE FROM MY FRONT YARD, REMOVED A 4 X 4 WHICH HAD BEEN NAILED BETWEEN TWO TREES IN MY BACK YARD, AND REMOVED SEVERAL SMALL SAPLINGS WHICH HAD SPROUTED BEHIND MY HOUSE.
