Refinishing Doctor

Made an appointment with Mr. Hughes on Thursday. He was on time and friendly. When he was done refinishing the bottom portion of my fiberglass shower insert he asked me to look at it. All I could manage was a quick glance because the smell was nauseating and no exhaust fans were used. The color was a bit bright white whereas the shower is a touch off-white. I was told it would darken as it dried. I asked how long the smell would last and proceeded to open windows and close doors. On Friday morning I took a good look at the refinish job and was very disappointed. The color is too white, the coverage is very splotchy (it looks like a grey and white patchwork), the finish has contaminants in it that look like chunks of blue dirt, there must have been air bubbles that popped because there are what looks like holes, one spot is raised and sharp enough to cut your skin and there is horrible overspray that is rough to the touch and holds on too anything(dirt) that touches it. I called Mr. Hughes to ask him to come back and fix the problems and he was short with me, but made an appointment for Tuesday at 9:30am. Surprise! he didn't show. I called and got a full mailbox message but sent my number to his pager. Surprise! no return call. I called again at about 1:00 he said he'd be at my house at 2:30. Surprise! no show again. My husband called him from Hawaii (where he is working) and Mr. Hughes told him that he would call me. Surprise! no call. I now have to find someone to clean up his mess and do the job right and sue Mr. Hughes. Do not let this man in your home. As of today, one week after the refinish work, the finish is still tacky, and the shower is unusable.

On his first visit he was nearly an hour late, but he got the work done and we were pleased, he also told us that the work came with a two year warranty. About a week after the work was initially done, a small section of the repair peeled off during normal cleaning. Over a three week period we tried to reach this company and they would not return phone calls. Finally we were able to get a hold of them using a friends phone (so our caller ID would not show up) and a new appointment was scheduled. The repairman came out at the scheduled time and completed the repair. Nearly 4 months later a large section of the new finish begins to peel off again. We call to schedule an appointment for 8:15 a.m., which no one showed up for. We have called the company, but no one answers and the voicemail is full.
