ALVAREZ CONCRETE SVC

He was a great guy. Had his licensing info and insurance info with him. Pressure washed and repainted the whole house and did fantastic! Was willing to fix anything that needed it while doing the work.

I contracted with Alvarez concrete company to remove my asphalt drive way and replace it with concrete. I requested that the concrete be installed with the center of the driveway a little lower than the outside edges. This would allow the rain to drain away from the houses on each side of the drive way and drain down the middle and out to the street. I received a bid for the work and found the statement on the bid showing that their company had 40 years of experience. With references listed. I expected that with 40 years of experience that the work would be done in accordance with current concrete pouring and finishing standards of the industry. The work was not up to any of those standards. Much to my surprise when the job was finished the center of the drive way was higher than the edges, thus the rain water enter my garage, which it had never done before. Further more the methods usually used to prevent natural cracking were not used and the concrete started to crack with in a month of the completion of the job. What was more frustrating was that I had spoken with Mr. Alvarez the day before he started the work and reminded him of my desire to have the center of the slab lower in the middle than the edges. He indicated that he understood. Knowing that I would not have use of the driveway for several days I made arrangements for Mr Alvarez to come and do the work while I was on a business trip. Thus he had no one to interfere with his work. When I returned home I saw that none of my contracted items were completed and I found where some one had walked on the concrete, leaving foot prints plainly visible made by their rubber boots. If I had known that the rain would run into my garage before I paid them, I would have withheld payment. I there fore took them to court and was awarded $500.00 for breach of contract, which they have never paid. I have filed a lein against their property, for all the good that did. There is no way that I cold ever recommend their company for any type of concrete work.
