I was given this plumbers name by my tile professional, Rob Argo. Jody Gibbs, contacted me almost immediately and met me at my house. Jody is a professional plumber who had been working at contracts on base in Warner Robbins and then for eight years here at Fort Benning. With the recent slow downs on base he has been doing private plumbing in Pine Mountain and here in Columbus. I really am glad Rob referred Jody to me. I have worked with several plumbers over the years here in Columbus. We do have a good selection of good plumbers here in town, and Jody is one of them. Some of the plumbers I have used in the past got a bit too expensive for my needs. The last plumber I had did an overall good job, but did mess up on this drain repair and had also charged me over 700 to repair a faucet (I got seriously ripped off). I had just finished a bathroom remodel and the plumbing was done by my last plumber. I watched him do the work and it seemed sound at the time. I had had the ceiling repaired below the bathroom. On the shower's first use, water started leaking from the light fixture in the ceiling downstairs... I didn't want to call back my last plumber and was glad to have Jody come by. Jody is a down to earth personable guy and I enjoyed having him at my house. He looked at the problem and apologized for having to cut out my ceiling again. He cut out the ceiling and found a couple small problems that caused the leak. The last plumber did not use Teflon tape where he should have and did not seat the pipes just right. A small issue that ended up having to get Jody out to the house and then having to get my ceiling repaired again. Jody and I spent over an hours trying to recreate the leak and find it. At first after we cut out the ceiling and ran the faucet, there was no leak. He stayed at it until the leak appeared and with a plastic part or two from his truck and some high quality Teflon tape had the problem fixed and had me with a drain that I'm confident will stand the test of time. He is even making an attempt to contact someone to come buy for me to hire to fix the ceiling. (I'm going to wait on the repair for a while just to make sure there are no issues.) Jody then took a look at my early 1990s toilets and found a problem with one of them. He came out the next day and fixed that toilet. He was prompt and showed up when he said he would. I felt that his prices were more than fair and his work was done professionally. Talking with Jody you can tell that he has years of experience and knows what he is doing. He is the kind of person you don't mind having in your house and I'd trust him to come into my house and do the work when I'm not there. He was kind and complimentary on some of the plumbing work I had done myself. He looked at other jobs and discussed with me my needs and what service he will provide in the future (bathroom remodel). One thing that sets Jody apart from other plumbers and people in general is his kind generosity. He knew I would be leaving my family for work in another country for a year. He offered to be available to help my family in the event of an emergency, plumbing or not, while I could not be there. I'd eagerly recommend Jody Gibbs as a trusted competent plumber. Talking with him I found out he has purchased a machine to clean out pipes, so this is another service he provides. If you have a new 1.6 gallon or less toilet, there is not enough water to bring the waste down to the street. The paper products harden up like paper mache in the pipes past the toilet and block the pipes. It apparently is a big issue. He also puts in alot of hot water heaters. What I liked when talking with him was that he has recommendations of products based on durability and cost to homeowners over time. He just won't throw in a cheap product he picks up from the big box store. He buys commercial grade products from trusted local suppliers. He says he puts in good products that will last and he installs them so there should really be no problems. He also makes sure he puts in the right type of heater (gas or electric) to save you money over time.
