This was my second experience with Williams Furniture Repair and I was even more pleased than the first tieml, if that is possible. One piece of furniture refinished was a lovely antique sideboard which needed the top refinished due to age. The end result is beautiful! I also have a beautiful antique inlaid desk that had a lot of damage from moisture, plus several pieces of inlay missing. I wasn't sure what to expect but Nathan assured me that it could be repaired. I was really wowed when he brought it back to me, and, more importantly, my husband was blown away. (It was a piece that came from his family!) It is wonderful to work with craftsmen who love what they do and I highly recommend Nathan Williams and his crew.

They were punctual, finished the work on time and as promised.
Description of Work: Refinishing of furniture tops -- dining room table, dresser and chairs. Also, took a kitchen table to the shop and refinished it. All of the work was done very well and the kitchen table came back looking better than it did was it was new.

Nathan and the guys at Williams Furniture are great to work with. It's neat to work with a true family business. Williams was the only company that I could get to come out to my home and repair the furniture. They did an excellent job and were very courteous and friendly. They did charge $75 for the visit to provide the estimate, but this was refunded when we used them to do the work.
Description of Work: We moved back from Europe and had some of our furniture damaged in the move. This work included: Repairing doors on an armoire Modifying nightstands to allow for fitting of marble tops Reapiring molding that had broken off of bed, vanity, buffet and table In addition, we had them create a glass top for the table and reseal the bottom of 6 chairs

We found the company through Angie's List, called and explained what we needed, and they were most happy to assist us. We transported the rocker to their shop, dropped it off, and they called in about a week (as they'd estimated) to let us know it was finished and ready for pick up; The repair is almost invisible - and it is invisible, unless one knows just where to look.
Description of Work: We have a maple rocker that wasn't expensive - it was one that I bought years ago and finished myself. But, it's rocked a lot of babies and when one spindle broke, I didn't want to discard it. Williams Furniture Repair was able to glue the spindle and finish the repair so that it's not noticeable.

After finding Williams Furniture Repair on Angie's list, I called and left a message that was returned promptly. We scheduled a time to have an onsite estimate done. Nathan Williams arrived within the time window that was scheduled. He looked at the desk and provided an estimate that turned out to be the exact price that I paid for the repair. Nathan told me that they were backed up with lots of customers and it might take a while to get the repairs done so I was expecting to wait a while. They actually returned my repaired desk in about a week and a half and they even threw in a minor repair to a headboard for free! The desk is in great shape now. This was a wonderful experience. I'll definitely use this company again.

This was a Great experience. I had a kitchen table and chairs in poor condition but unreplaceable according to my family. Nathan assured me that he could make it "good as new" and he certainly did! When returning the kitchen furniture, Nathan Williams and his assistant touched up my antique dining room chairs and an antique chest which had a large chip out of the foot as well as a severe scratch on the side. All the pieces are now beautiful. I was so satisfied that I sent two more antique pieces needing repair back to the shop with Nathan. This company was great to work with. The quality of craftmanship was excellent and I had my furniture back sooner than expected.

I originally called Williams out for an estimate on repairing a Baker armoire where the inside tracks for the drawers had split over the years. It turned out that they did need to take it back to the shop for repair as I expected. Williams completely remade three of the four pairs of tracks exactly like the original and they now work great. I had tried glueing the split pieces for so long, and they finally were just totally beyond that, that I had forgotten how nice the piece was when the drawers worked. They also looked at several other pieces, all somewhat minor repairs and gave me estimates on each. I decided to let them take my dining room table also to repair several nicks on the edges between the extension leaves. They did some other minor repairs on site that same day. The two pieces were returned in excellent condition in two weeks as promised. Because I have a typical work week of Monday through Friday, they came on a Saturday morning and were very professional in regards to estimates, removal and return of the pieces and the actual work. We had also agreed on some other onsite work to "touch up" several pieces - it was amazing how quickly they worked to make a chest on chest, a bachelor's chest and some plant stands they had looked pretty nicked up look like new. I am extremely pleased with the results. In addition, when they returned those original pieces, they took a recliner chair back to repair the spring on it. Nathan also was able to come up with a fix for a drawer handle on an old spool cabinet I had. Upon returning the chair, I had one last piece for them - an old bookcase that had been in my office. Over the years we had lost one shelf and the veneer that wrapped about the curved part of the piece had come off. They were able to make a shelf, fix the veneer and refinish the top of the piece like new - or maybe better than it was new. It was so nice to get a lot of little things (and a few bigger issues) taken care of that I had just put off handling. Their professionalism, great knowledge of furniture and excellent repair/refinishing work were exceptional. I was very impressed that they either answered right away or called me back quickly. I haven't had this experiecne with other furniture repair companies in the past when I felt like they were doing me a real favor just to talk to me. Everyone at Williams made you feel like they were very appreciative to have your business! I would highly recommend them.
Description of Work: They charge $90 to come out. It could be more if you live really far from their location in Tucker. Armoire - completely remade three sets of drawer tracks, clean and touched up Dining Room Table - repair nicks on edge of table and spray light refinish top of table and leaves Leather Recliner - take apart base to repair spring that had popped off and replace popped off buttons Spool Cabinet - attach original drawer pull that had broken off Plant Stands (2) - touch up scratches Head Board on Twin Beds - repair dents where my son when young had hit it with a rock, touch up Chest on Chest and Bachelor Chest - touch up nicks, etc Secretary - fill and touch up scratch on desk top surface Book Case - repair/replace veneer, make shelf to replace one that was lost I really feel like I got my money's worth from Williams and was very pleased with all the work.

I was very happy with this company. The were great to deal with from start to finish and they did a fantastic job. Upon delivery, they also provided me with detailed instructions on how to care for my wood furniture. It is clear that they love what they do, and it shows. I highly recommend them and I will use them again.
Description of Work: Williams Furniture repaired and refinished an antique Lane cedar chest that had been damaged in a move. Now it looks better than it has in years! They also refinished an antique dining room table and 2 leaves, beautiully matching the finish to the buffet from the same set. When they delivered the table, the brought the matching stain to touch up scratches on the buffet and dining chairs. I am thrilled with the results!

I had read the reviews on Angie's list and was very impressed. I had an old wicker chair with a broken leg that I loved and asked them to look at it. Nigel gave me a estimate that was very reasonable and I left the chair. Within 2 weeks the repair was made and I picked up the chair. Nigel did an awsome job and you could not tell where it was repaired. Definitely, do not hesitate to use these folks....they are great!!

I was referred Williams Furniture Repair, Inc by my contractor when I noticed that the firm I had used in the past was no longer in business. I phoned and described the table. Emailed digital photos and received an approximate quote by return email the next day. Made an appointment for Nathan to visit, view the table and confirm the quote, which I believe happened within a week. We agreed on the price and he took the table. The turnaround was scheduled for 4 weeks and the table was returned in 2-1/2. I wish every interaction went this smoothly! It was a perfect experience.
Description of Work: Refinished a large 30-year old Danish teak dining table with two large leaves on a pedestal base, with pick-up and delivery service included. The table was badly scratched and water marked. It was restored to a beautiful condition beyond expectations and I was given complete instructions on how to maintain the table which have proven to be invaluable. I highly recommend working with Nathan and Williams Furniture Repair. The work is beyond compare, as is the professionalism. If Nathan was delayed on his way to an appointment at my home, he always called to say he would be late. And, in fact, delivered the table at least a week and a half earlier than he initially anticipated.

I purchased a white painted chest at an antique store with the intent of refinishing it myself. However, after I removed some of the paint, I discovered several gouges filled with white putty. Since I was unable to remove the putty, I contacted Williams Furniture Repair, Inc. for help. Several years ago, they refinished four pieces of furniture for me. Once again, their workmanship is exceptional. They removed the putty, repaired the damage, and refinished the chest so that it looks like new. Their attention to detail is outstanding and included refinishing the interior of the drawers and salvaging the original hardware. They are professional and courteous and it is such a pleasure doing business with them.

The owners of Williams Furniture Repair were wonderful and very informative. Nate made sure I preferred spending $ on refinishing rather than replacing and helped me to research online the new bedroom suite I liked. My husband and I are very pleased with the results and other family members say it looks brand new. I will be using Williams Furniture Repair if needed in the future.
Description of Work: Refinished bedroom suite which consisted of triple dresser with 9 drawers, 6 1/2' x 4" x 2" Armoire with two large drawers, three small drawers, five shelves and three doors, light bridge with two towers, large, queen-sized storage headboard and large dresser mirror. This suite purchased in 1978 had a lot of wood surfaces that had been damaged by age, water marks, one cigarette burn, chipped veneer, a couple of dents, drawers that stuck and missing door catches. Everything was repaired, restored and replaced including the backs of light bridges. It looks brand new...a similar set new was going to cost me approximatley $9,000 dollars.

I would recommend Nathan Williams without reservation!! It is rare to find an individual who provides the kind of quality service that he delivers--he is charming and the workmanship fully exceeded any expectations for the refinishing/repair projects.
Description of Work: We moved to Atlanta and had extensive damage to our furniture by the moving company. Nathan Williams worked with me to ensure that repairs would be done to my satisfaction. His repairs went far beyond what the company reimbursed him for, his philosophy being that quality workmanship is the only acceptable product he will offer. He and his staff spent one full day doing on site repairs, took multiple pieces to the repair shop for refinishing that exceeded on-site capabilities, and also refinished some other chairs I wanted done. They did everything from simple rubbing out of marks, to rebuilding a rocking chair, to repairing an antique cedar chest, to complete refinishing of some antiques.

They picked up the desk when scheduled and they delivered when they promised. When picking up and delivering they are careful not to mar the floors or walls. I couldn't ask for better service.
Description of Work: I have used Williams Furniture Repair many times - this last time was the repair of an antique desk that came from the Philadelphia Union Club. The finish was atrocious because it had been facing the sun. Also one of the legs had been broken off and had been glued with a blue epoxy glue. I wasn't sure of how well the desk could be repaired but the 'bones' were excellent and Nathan Williams assured me he could bring the desk back to a good condition. Well when the job was completed the desk looked great - the finish was very natural and the leg was repaired so that the join is not apparent unless someone points it out. As uusual it was the attention to detail that impresses - the interior of the drawers was cleaned and polished, and the drawer pulls were also cleaned. On any piece they have worked on they have offered options based on the value and condition of the item.

They did a great job. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking to restore antique furniture. They took out big cashes that were created from shipping. It is wood aswell.

Called for estimate. They said they could not say how much it would be. I offered to send pictures and they said that might help with an estimate. Was told would get back to me later that day. Took a couple days to hear back. The estimate came in at $450 + $90 pickup/delivery. That was almost the cost of the chair about 7 years ago. Either they did not care to offer a fair estimate or did not want to drive up to my location. I called a more local company not on here and the repair was $180 + free pickup/delivery. For their prices, I would have expected to get a new chair and not a simple back brace repair. VERY OVERPRICED!

Response from WILLIAMS FURNITURE REPAIR INC
The estimate was based on photos emailed to us, the figure quoted was to remove the upholstery, and rebuild if necessary. A worse case scenario in effect, we also explained that sometimes it wasn't cost effective to repair lower end recliners and that the repair cost can exceed the value of the piece. ( A personal note, I own two leather recliners from Barcalounger that are nine years old and I remember that they were $ 2100.00 for the pair on sale!) A 180.00 repair is great, but we cannot respond to this because the repair may be a metal brace? I don't know. I also must disagree with the report as stating we are "very overpriced" in bold type. I feel that we are very competively priced with other metro Atlanta shops. Thank You. Nathan Williams, President Williams Furniture Repair, Inc.

The whole experience was what I wish all service providers did. Pleasant, professional, punctual and they do a great job. If you like the piece of furniture that you have and it needs to be refinished, Williams is the place to call.
Description of Work: I originally called Williams Furniture Repair to order replacement shelf glass for a secretary desk that had been damaged in a move. I went out to their shop and Nathan gave me a tour of their facility. You can tell that they take pride in their work. That visit resulted in them refinishing our dining room table, an antique Victrola stand, and waxing a Balinese wood carving. The dining room table looks brand new and the Victrola has been restored to its former glory. I can't say enough good things about Nate and the rest of his team. Oh yes -- I also bought a small end table from them from their stock of "orphaned" items. Check out their website for some of the unique items that they have for sale.

They were extremely professional, gave us an estimated time of arrival and were right on time. Nathan Williams did an excellent job in explaining what he was doing and why and made absolutely sure that we were happy with the job that he and his assistant did, before they left. They did a great job in protecting the carpet while they made the repairs to the china hutch, there are no stains on the carpet under the hutch at all. Nathan was also very helpful in giving us an estimate on refinishing a drop leaf table we have. They are clearly very good at what they do and I would recommend Williams Furniture Repair to anyone.

The set consisted of a vanity dresser with circular mirror, a full-size bed, a chest of 6 drawers, all hand made circa 1927 by my great uncle, who made furniture at his home in Weaverville, NC. The wood came from a walnut tree on my great grandfather's farm in Shelton Laurel, NC. The set was my grandmother's main bedroom set for about 55 years and then my mother's guest bedroom set for about 27 years. My husband and I got 3 estimates: we first contacted two shops by e-mail with photos of the furniture attached: one was a Chamblee antique shop (an outrageous $3800); the other a re-finisher in Tucker bid $1800, about the same price we finally paid. For the third estimate -- to avoid cost of an in-home visit -- we arranged with Nathan Williams to bring to his family's shop the small vanity, 2 drawers from the chest, and photos of the chest, head, foot and side boards. We were very happy with Nathan's descriptions of how refinishing was being done for some of the works-in-progress, his explanation of how best to redo our set, and the cost - $1750 - which seemed reasonable for sentimental pieces and in line with one prior bid. Williams Furniture Repair is a family shop, which to us seemed to have maintained its reputation by providing a high standard of quality in the work and a very nice, instructive, casual interaction with customers (at least with us). We met with Nathan Williams, who showed us various stages of restoration and some finalized pieces, which we thought looked very nicely redone. Nathan checked the photos and the pieces that we brought and explained by example how the set would be refinished; he gave us a time-frame within our expectations (4 to 8 weeks) considering their job queue. On week 7, Nathan asked us to the shop to demo stains and to chose a stain and satin clear coat; he indicated delivery in about a week. One note: on our previous visit we talked about a mattress and box spring, Nathan suggested the Original Mattress Factory because the foot-board's height would allow 16-inches for the total box spring and mattress thickness. We followed his advice and bought OMF's Lo-profile ~5-inch box-spring and ~10-inch Classic Luxury mattress, which turned out to be a perfect for this set, which will be in our guest bedroom for a while and then for further TLC go to our bride-to-be daughter. Two days ago, Nathan and helper delivered and set-up the pieces. We were very satisfied with the quality of the R&R and indicated to Nathan that indeed we would write him a very positive recommendation in Angie's list.

After my water heater broke and flooded my home with water, I needed to get several pieces of furniture that suffered water damage refinished. I contacted several furniture refinishing companies. Williams promptly returned my phone calls, took the time to discuss my needs over the phone, and came to my home to inspect my furniture and give me an estimate. Other companies that I called failed at one or more of those tasks. Most important, Williams was very professional. Williams took the time to explain what needed to be done and why, and how they were going to do it. They made my decision to use them easy, and their work confirmed that I was right in choosing them. I had Williams refinish a sleeper sofa (mission style, thus it had wood that needed refinishing), a recliner and ottoman that had wooden bases, and a headboard. They picked it up, arriving at the designated hour; did the work diligently; and returned the furniture to me, arriving when they said they would. They did a fantastic job in refinishing my furniture. I would not consider using anyone else to refinish furniture in the future. They were punctual for all appointments and completed the refinishing work within the time period they originally estimated. And they did a great job at a reasonable price. I work in a service business myself and I hope that my clients feel about me as I do about Williams. I recommend them wholeheartedly, without any reservation.
