Williams Furniture Repair is almost "old-world" - it's tucked away behind a house and the first time we went there we drove right past the place without even seeing it. I believe the company is now in it's third generation and they seem to take a lot of pride in their work. Niles Williams greeted me when I pulled up. Do Not expect a quick turnaround!!! I left the first chair on November 27th and didn't get a call saying it was ready until the end of January! I understand a holiday rush and fortunately was not in a hurry to get the chair back. When I heard from them that the chair was ready, I drove back to the shop. Niles greeted me again and was eager to turn the chair upside down to show me exactly how the repair had been done. I had put another of my dining room chairs (the back is loose) in the back of my van - my thinking was if I picked up the first chair and was happy with their work, I'd leave the other chair for them to work on. Once I saw the work they did on the first chair, I unhesitatingly left them the second one to repair. I dropped the second chair off on January 27th - it's now February 27th and I haven't heard from them yet. So speed and quick service is not one of their strong suits, but the work is worth the wait.
Description of Work: I have a lovely solid maple dining set that's approximately 25 years old. The chairs are spindle-back. I dropped one of the chairs and the entire back fell apart. They put the chair back together beautifully - I was very pleased with the work.

Williams Furniture was a pleasure to deal with. Nathan, the lead re finisher, is both highly knowledgeable and enthusiastic about his craft.. He was a wealth of knowledge about the various vintage and antique furniture pieces I own. Among the family pieces I had restored was a desk and chair that belonged to my dad. Both pieces were really beat up and scratched before I sent them out for refinishing. The results were unbelievable. Both pieces look beautiful and like new. Nathan also refinished the head board of a blonde mahogany mid century bedroom set that I inherited. He took two drawers from the nightstands to ensure that the finish of the head board would blend in seamlessly with the other pieces of the suite. The matching/blending was amazing. I am so pleased to have found this company. Nathan clearly understands how to restore and care for antique and vintage pieces. He was able to give me a great deal of specific information about he age/origin of many of the pieces of furniture I own. I am completely happy with results of Nathan's work. I have just sent out a drop leaf table out for repair of a broken foot for Williams Furniture to repair. Thanks again everything!
Description of Work: Refinished mid century family vintage pieces including a desk and chair, head board, desk pull out. Restored finish to various vintage pieces including a bedroom suite, night stand and did some minor furniture repairs.

I contacted Williams Furniture Repair and was given a date when Nathan Williams would be in my area of town to pickup the bookcase. On the scheduled date, Nathan telephoned to let me know that he could come earlier than planned. He picked-up the bookcase and gave an estimated completion date of 4 to 8 weeks. The bookcase is close to 50 years old and had an approximate two inch chip removed from the front due to damage by movers. It was originally so old and dark that the wood grain was hidden. Nathan told me that he personally repaired and refinished the bookcase and his work is impeccable. He used a mahogany stain which adds a richness to the piece and now the wood grain is clearly visible. The area where the wood was chipped is completely concealed. The bookcase was returned within the estimated time frame. I have previously used Williams Furniture Repair and have always been pleased with their outstanding professionalism and skill.

As usual the restoration was flawless. You can't tell the leg was reattached unless you know where to look and look very, very closely. And the refinishing looks natuaral - nice soft patina. I have used them on anumber of pieces and have never been disappointed and have recommended them to others who have thanked me saying they did a terrifric job.

Mr. Williams came to the house to do an estimate, the $75 (I think) cost of which was applied to the repairs. He then picked up and carefully transported the furniture to and from his shop, with about 6 weeks in the middle when he was doing the work (and we were going to be out of town so weren't concerned w/ the lead time). When he returned, he and his helper delivered all of the furniture in their van - again covered with furniture pads - and set up the chairs + brought the armoire door to install on the piece. Once he installed the door, he realized that it wasn't functioning as he'd planned. (It was sticking slightly out from the body of the piece...likely due to a sub-par fix to another side of the piece in the past). Mr. Williams worked with tools and his colleague to fix it to the best of their ability on site but didn't charge us for the door. We thought it was fine and were pleased with his willingness not to charge if the work wasn't to his standards / what we initially expected. Great service
Description of Work: Really impressive skills & customer service. I had an old, 1800s French armoire and five cherry dining room chairs that I'd picked up at an estate sale. All were interesting, solid wood pieces but were in need of loving care. The armoire had a door that wasn't attached properly to the hinge so wouldn't shut, and there were no shelves (which needed to be custom built, given old fashioned bevels). The chairs were simply loose from too many years of leaning back - needed backs re-glued. We had the chairs done & the armoire door...the shelves would've cost double the piece, so we skipped. Mr. Williams also helped us think of the trade-offs between economical "fixes" and bigger investments (e.g., shelving + a chair that was going to cost 2-3x its price to fix).

Company is family owned and operated - we met mainly with Nathan Williams, who is courteous and knowledgeable. On our first visit to the shop my wife and I brought a couple of drawers typical of the condition of the wood. We got a nice short tour of the shop that included an explanation of what would be done and the cost. We returned once to examine the refurbished wood and to select the stain and final coating. Overall, these folks did a terrific restoration, given the set was in use for most of the years since it was built. To properly outfit the bed, we bought a custom half-height mattress and box spring at The Original Mattress Factory in Atlanta, GA.
Description of Work: Refinishing of a solid walnut bedroom set with a standard full size bed, chest of drawers, and a vanity-dresser with beveled-edge round mirror. The set was hand made in 1924 by great uncle. All the wood was from a walnut tree on great grandfather's farm in NC. Williams Furniture Repair cleaned and refinished all surfaces of the set, including insides and outsides of the drawers. Overall they did a terrific job, given the set was in use for most of the years since it was built. Price included refinishing, pickup and delivery that included setting up the bed.

Great job! Furniture looks terrific!
Description of Work: We had a water leak and needed to clean some furniture that belonged to my family. There is a lot of sentimental value attached to the furniture, and we needed someone we could trust. Nathan was extremely responsive and, as we learned, passionate about the business. I would hire him again in a second.

I enjoyed discussing antiques with Nathan and would definitely use him and Williams Furniture repair again!
Description of Work: I had purchased a dining room table at an outlet and it had some small 'dings' as well as a large chip in the edge of the top. I called Williams Furniture Repair and they scheduled an appointment for the following week. Nathan Williams called the morning of the appointment and told me they were on their way. When they arrived they examined the table and told me they would be able to fix it that day right in my home! Nathan and his helper were able to repair all the dings to the point that you can't tell well they were. I was worried about the large chip in the veneer, but Nathan did a great job on it. You have to look closely to see where it was!

I called Williams furniture repair when I discovered that there had been a water leak in my storage unit. Two large sideboards, china hutch and smaller sideboard were severely damaged and had mold growing on top of and inside of the furniture. The pieces were irreplaceable. They had been bought in south america. The value was not only monetary but emotional as the furniture pieces were heirlooms. There was no question that I had to try to restore the furniture. My expectations were low due to the severity of the damage. Nathan Williams was understanding and honest in the discussion of the repair and restoration. Nathan and his family took a personal interest in my furniture and gave me a comfort level that I was not anticipating due to the damage my furniture had endured. Williams Furniture Repair is a family business that has integrity and pride of ownership. They know what they are doing and take the time to do it the correct way. Furniture will not be delivered back to you unless they are happy with the job. Nathan Williams has a passion for restoring antique furniture, and all types of furniture. I would not consider any other furniture repair business to send my furniture to. Williams did an unbelievable job. My furniture is beautiful again. My children can enjoy it just as it was meant to be. Williams Furniture Repair are truly masters at their art

Unbelievable! Nathan, Valerie and team from Williams Furniture Repair transformed our furniture from well worn and sometimes damaged furniture to furniture looking like new (or better). I researched furniture repair on Angie's List, liked what I read about Williams Furniture Repair and contacted them. The team was amazing from the initial telephone inquiry, through the estimate process and the finished product. Nathan was very professional and helpful during the estimate giving suggestions and alternatives. All the work was completed on time and delivered as promised. Williams Furniture Repair exceeded our expectations and I highly recommend Williams Furniture for any furniture repair and refinishing.
Description of Work: Repaired and refinished a cedar chest, desk with leather inset and a side table, all special family pieces. The work was so exceptional I gave them more! They just brought back our refinished dining room table, 4 high back chairs (recaned and reglued), two coffee tables and a side table.

I called to make an appointment for someone to look at some damage to my dining room set. They charge $75 for an estimate. Later, I found someone to do the repair for $50. I called to cancel the estimate.Everyone was very nice, and I can't blame people for not wanting to drive around for nothing, or to schedule time when often no one is home when they arrive. They would have applied the estimate charge to the work. If you are looking for someone to do a fairly small job, don't bother with these folks. I am sure they are fine with larger jobs.

I called and they said "sure, fine." A friend and I transported the chairs to their shop about 12 miles away from my house near Lawrenceville in Gwinnett Co. It's tucked away, but well worth finding. NOTE: Williams offers pickup and delivery at a fee, but I don't remember how much it is because I didn't use it. The people were friendly and knowledgeable. The estimate of $190.00 for both is the final amount I paid when we picked up the 2 chairs. It's a father-to-son business with a total experience stretching back almost 50 years of continuous service. These folks know what they're doing. They did the work at their shop.
Description of Work: Williams Furniture Repair re-glued the seat of a Windsor captain's chair and fixed the rollers/castors on my 1930s/40s era wooden desk chair — redid the attachment points and supplied new rollers/castors. And now both chairs are WONDERFUL.

Nathan and his nephew Chris came to my home to do some furniture touch-up. They were able to touch up most everything onsite. There are two pieces that have more significant damage that will need to repaired at their facility. I was quite pleased with their work, but also impressed by them overall. They are a down-to-earth, honest and hardworking family business. They are 3rd and 4th generation craftsmen looking to maintain the reptuation and brand built by previous generations. Iam pleased with the work, and would recommend them without hesitance.

I took the chairs to their woodworking offices after seeing the job they'd done on a chair my husband had taken in. These chairs are at least 45 years old and have been regularly used; the joints holding the top to the sides had loosened and my husband (who's a woodworking hobbyist) had tried to repair them without success. At this point, they showed the attempted repairs and the pieces were sliding when someone sat down and leaned back. They promised the chairs in two weeks - and when I called to check on them, it turned out that the owners' mother had just died and they'd gotten behind on the work. That was understandable; they promised them in two more weeks and they were ready at that point. The chairs look beautiful - there's no evidence at the joints that were repaired that repair was done! I'd definitely use them again!
Description of Work: Took two dining room chairs made of pecan with curved backs to them for repair. My husband who does woodworking as a hobby had tried to repair them over the years without any success. Williams repaired them - and they look brand new - which they certainly didn't before!
