Value Tech Insulation, LLC has an excellent reputation for customer satisfaction and value. The company began with its primary focus on offering the latest and best-performing spray-foam insulation applications on the market, at an affordable price. In contrast to the lack of quality contracting in the insulation industry today, we are committed to customer satisfaction with an emphasis on education and quality control. ValueTech is also the exclusive provider of insulation services to some of the most respected heating, ventilating, and air-conditioning (HVAC) and home-performance contractors in metro Atlanta.

Contracted to spray foam insulation in attic and crawlspace. There was a substantial additional charge for removal and disposal of fiberglass insulation in crawlspace. Didn't show up on time and had some equipment problems. The actual insulation installation appears to be good but the workers tracked mud into the house, left debris where they dragged hoses through a bedroom, and hid six bags of insulation in the crawlspace rather than removing them. After another trip to remove the bags and play basketball in my backyard, they still had done a mediocre job of cleanup. Mr Watson suggested that I should go back into the crawlspace to take pictures for him. He didn't seem to be interested in doing more than making excuses after receiving payment. I finally decided that it would be easier to complete the cleanup myself than to continue trying to get the job finished by totally disinterested laborers. The real lesson here is not specific to this company as I suspect that the laborers doing this type of work are not going to be highly motivated to do a quality job. At least 50% of payment should be withheld until owner & contractor have made an inspection together and all squawks are remedied. I only got quotes from two contractors. It would not be unreasonable for another person to use this contractor if they carefully compared offers from others and clearly laid out what was expected.

Response from Value Tech Insulation
I would not hire the worker who left the bags down in the crawlspace again either, albeit the crawlspace was not to be used for anything and the area where bags were left was out of the way (in a 2 foot high area where no one would ever go). While the customer has every right to expect whatever we agree on, the bags left down there surely would not have hurt anything. That is no excuse. Our company expects our workers to do as told and not to make these value judgments, and thus they apologized and were sent back to remove the bags. It almost goes without saying, that the purpose of taking out the old fiberglass in the first place was so we could gain access and spray the polyurethane foam on the surface under the floor, which the fiberglass batts covered. Thus, we had to take it down, even if it did not actually “need” (excepting the customer desire) to be removed. The worker who did not disclose his decision (to management) to leave some of the bags in there does not work for us any more. I think the customer's photo of one piece of insulation (likely the only piece that was left)— while legitimate—shows, again, that our worker failed to anticipate what the homeowner expected to be inconsistent with an unused crawlspace, which by its very nature, is filthy and unusable for anything but the debris that was left over from the original construction. Finally, as I recall, the old carpet in the house (which was empty and undergoing renovation) was already dirty and we thought to be replaced. Apparently he still wanted to use it for a while, don’t know. There may have been some misunderstanding around this. However, the carpet was cleaned after the complaint about some tracks on it, and as I recall this was according to the customer's final satisfaction. Apparently not. It is hard to address a complaint if it not fully understood, or not fully expressed. Sometimes we don’t get the whole story at the time, and in this case the conversations were over the phone, not during a final walk through at the house. We pride ourselves on customer satisfaction. The customer has our apology if this did not occur. Sometimes problems cannot be avoided—some on the job, and some with employees. It is how a company resolves them that counts.
