Phoned Sudlow to ask for a quote. Call was not returned

Bill made it clear upfront that the timing would be affected by the weather, but he kept in touch with us so that we could plan for disruptions. We had a typical March run of cold, rainy, and windy weather which forced postponements. Eventually, good weather arrived (unexpectedly--and unpredicted). Bill called to tell us that we would be starting the next day with the tear-out, and a truck brought a large container to hold the debris. Bill and his crew showed up early the next morning to rip out the asphalt. That took the first day, and the second day his crew prepared the base and set the forms. The concrete trucks arrived a bit later than ordered, but the pour was made, the concrete was finished, and the crew cleaned up as much as possible. The members of the crew were friendly and polite. The work was professionally done, and they left the site in a neat condition. I do not expect to need any more concrete work done, but I would recommend Bill Sudlow's work enthusiastically! Please note that this comes from a guy with a concrete "Buzz" at his mailbox, and Bill wears a ring from some school around Athens!

We are very pleased with the result. It looks Fantastic. He does one job at a time and uses the same crew who where polite, courteous and efficient. Bill was there most of the time supervising, although they needed very little. After they finished they did a very good job cleaning up. I would(and have) recommended him to friends and neighbors.

Mr. Sudlow came out shortly after I called and asked for an estimate. Estimate was very reasonable for the amount of concrete that was needed. He informed me that he would call and schedule a day to complete the work. If you've been in Atlanta for the last two months you know that it has rained 60-70% of the time. As soon as the forecast cleared Mr. Sudlow called and scheduled the work four days in advance. He and his crew showed up first thing in the morning while I was at work and finished the job. Called and waited for me to return from work to inspect and for payment. Patio looks great! Wife is pleased!

The quote was reasonable. Mr. Sudlow called one day and wanted to do the job the next day. However, this was not possible as I was away. He then told me it was going to rain for a week, and I said I was happy to wait until after this. He next said that he could come in two days. On the actual day I heard it gave rain, but Mr. Sudlow said it did not and that he always checked the weather forecast. It rained. Only time will tell how good the concrete is. There was no clean up as Mr. Sudlow was apparently in a hurry to get to the bank with my check.

Sudlow did an excellent job. He's easy to work with and performed the agreed upon service on time. the clean-up was excellent also.

They must be very busy. They did not respond to a request to quote.

An estimate was not given nor was any work preformed

I had a gravel drive adjacent to my concrete drive; I wanted it paved. Mr. Sudlow contacted me almost instantly after my query and arrived on New Year's during heavy rain to inspect the proposed project and offer a quote. Having found the quote satisfactory compared to earlier quotes, I hired him quickly. Given some unforeseen difficulties with the job, he did politely ask if he might increase the fee; however, he said he would honor the agreement either way. Given that even the higher quote was much lower than other quotes, I did not mind, particularly since he explained his clearly. His crew arrived promptly, followed directions, cleared the gravel off the drive with a Bobcat, and proceeded to pour. After the pour, they leveled and molded the concrete quite nicely, then marked it off with caution tape. This took no more than five hours. All in all, I am pleased. I would hire him again.

The project went very well. My new storage space is clean and beautiful. I'm really looking forward to using it! This is the second job Bill Sudlow has done for me, and I very, very pleased with the work. The crew even does a great job of cleaning up after themselves! Bill is a gentleman, very pleasant to work with. Bill Sudlow has earned my highest possible recommendation.

Never heard from this company

Sudlow Construction arrived on time and provided good feedback. After looking at the project, they stated that it would be much more than the 10'x15' included within the deal and provide an estimate for the extra work. I have decided to go in a different direction.

I contacted Bill Sudlow and he responded immediately. They were on the job at the exact time planned. Bill was here for the entire job. He was very responsive to my request.

I am very sorry to have to give Sudlow Concrete a bad report based on poor professionalism. On Saturday, 11/3/12, Mr. Sudlow came to my home to bid on a driveway repair. There was water pooling at the end of the drive in a sunken area where a French drain had been installed. The drain did not work at all due to a previous poor installation by a different company and the angle of the topography. Mr. Sudlow agreed that he could fix the issue by taking up the concrete in that section of the driveway, taking out the drain, re-grading the drive and then re-pouring the driveway to have the correct ?fall?. This solution sounded very reasonable in order to fix the problem long range. He quoted me a price for the work, which also sounded reasonable based on some other quotes I had received. So, I signed a contract with him. He advised he would call the utilities and expected to do the work the following Wednesday. The following Monday, Mr. Sudlow called me to advise he would not be able to do the work for the price he quoted. He said he would need to pour more concrete than he originally thought with a cost of over 60% more instead. I was disappointed that he did not honor the original quote, especially since we had a signed contract. Enforcing the contract would not have helped in the long run and I needed to go ahead and get the job done. I would have expected that even if the job was grossly under quoted, a professional business would still have honored it.

I contacted Bill Sudlow through Angie's List and he replied immediately to my call. We set a time for him to come out and give me an estimate for the work I wanted done. I had asked Bill to break the job down to driveway, sidewalk, and extra pad so I could see what would fit into my budget. He was more than happy to do this. While he was there he told me in detail what he did and about the materials he used. He explained the job to me and what it would take. He handed me a written estimate right there on the spot. I told him I would let him know. He was very good about following up without being pushy at all. After about 10 days I told him to move ahead and we set a start date. Bill showed up with his crew right on time. His crew was amazing. They went to work and had the old driveway and sidewalk removed and the forms for the new driveway in place in the first day. (70 feet of sidewalk and about 100 feet of double wide driveway was removed and the extra parking pad was excavated and formed as well, this was not a small job. The next day his crew showed up right on time again and the cement trucks were rolling as they got there. By the end of the second day I had my new concrete poured and the next morning the dumpsters were removed as promised. During the job some of my sprinkler system was damaged, I called Bill and he had no hesitation whatsoever about telling me to get it fixed. His exact words were, "I need to make you a satisfied customer". I wish every job done at my home went as well as this one and that every business owner was as professional as Bill Sudlow and Sudlow Concrete.

It was a great experience. If I do need a new driveway in the future, he will be the first one I call.

Removed old driveway one day and poured a new one the next day. Very professional, speedy service, good price and work. Will recommend to my friends and neighbors.

Bill and his crew were very professional and showed up when they said they would. I am very pleased with the job.

Overall this was an excellent experience. The company showed up as promised, and all in all cleaned up after themselves as promised. They did not expect to be paid until the job was finished and I was satisfied. Bill is friendly and prompt. My only negatives were minor and three in number. And, I have one suggestion. Negative One: Not until after the driveway cured did I discover a footprint and another smear in the middle of my turn around where someone stepped into the wet concrete and didn't repair it. Perhaps a greater attention to the workmen by the foreman is in order. Negative Two: Workers laid two form pieces on my lawn in the hot sun which burned their shapes into my turf. It will repair itself, hopefully, in a few weeks. But that shouldn't happen. Negative Three: The dumpster placed in front of my house for disposal of the old driveway material became so heavy on my asphalt roadway that it actually sank into the asphalt leaving permanent impressions. The dumpster company should have allowed for this by placing something under the feet of the dumpster when being used on hot days on asphalt roads. This is unfortunate since the road was recently resurfaced. Finally, my suggestion. On the day that Sudlow removes their barriers and forms, workers should take the time to fill in the areas at the edges of the driveway that were dug out for the forms for the new driveway, returning the landscape to its previous condition. I should say that I was actually out of town when this work was done. When I returned, I discovered all of these things, which are admittedly, minor, but also that the roadway out in front of my house was muddy and had a large area covered in concrete dust. I called Bill Sudlow and told him I was not happy with the roadway. He explained that he had thought rains would wash it away. It had not. The very next day after my phone call, Bill showed up with a worker and a pressure washer to clean the street. Excellent response to my request for service.

I pulled up Angie's List and found Sudlow Concrete. What initially led me to Sudlow's was the statement that stood out that read something like this, "This company was just used in your area", it had mixed reviews, yet worth the attempt. After speaking with Bill and telling him where I was located, he said he was on his way. He put my address in his GPS and said, "I am sorry, I don't come to that area". It seemed as if he did not like the fact that I was in the city of Atlanta by our conversation. He was adamant concerning that. I told him what I read on Angie's List and he restated that he does not come to my area. It was a let down, but those things happen. Hence the lousy experience of my expectations. My frustration was he did work around the corner from me (not too far off) yet maybe I was 1 mile further than I should have been for him to provide service. He should have determined that before he said he was on his way to do the estimate. Maybe the companies that provide services at the customers location should put the zip codes of the areas they service. This has NO reflection of his (Bill's) work ethics, on site professionalism, or performance.

The wall now is square and plum and the surface veneer is as perfect as one could imagine. Bill and his crew really know their business and understands what a professionally performed job looks like. This is a rare quality in the home repair these days. Thank you, Angie's List for connecting me with this true professional! I will be happy to show the work to anyone considering a project like this.

His crew did an outstanding job on the concrete work. However, Bill Sudlow did underestimate the amount of concrete for the footing, which was unusually deep. Even with that, the cost was significantly less that other estimates I received.

The new concrete looks great. Bill's crew did a great job, got it done in very reasonable amount of time, and did not leave a mess.
