Sudlow Concrete

Over the last 20 years we had 5 different concrete contactors doing different slabs along the house, for an outdoor living area, for a Jacuzzi tub, for a double air-conditioner, and long concrete steps in the backyard, all major jobs. All improvements were fully acceptable but the most recent work by Sudlow Concrete was truly exceptional, standing clearly out of the crowd. It is a pleasure to have a look at what they did with a highly irregular shape of the driveway; this is a concrete piece of art. The driveway is fully functional and the quality is high. At work they were organized and left the area very clean.

Sudlow Concrete completed the scheduled work on time and at the agreed to price. They showed up on time and removed the old concrete in a day & poured the new concrete the next morning. The cleaned up after themselves and the dumpster full of old concrete was removed the second day. They were very professional and I had no issues with their work. They poured concrete with fiberglass with exception of the bridge where they used rebar. They poured gravel before the concrete. Based on my understanding of the cost of concrete, the price was fair.

Although a little difficult to get a response from him initially for coordinating an estimate, I later discovered its likely cause...he is just that busy and probably for a good reason. Once scheduled, the estimate came in very competitive with 2 others I received. Upon agreeing to move forward with him, Bill immediately scheduled my work for the following week. The crew showed up each day at the time promised. They were all very professional and polite. Bill was usually there in person but in those few instances where he had to be elsewhere for a short time, he would make sure I knew he was leaving and when he would be back. As the job progressed, I made a couple changes (additions) to the work which Bill was always happy to accommodate under terms we could agree to. Very easy to work with and a commitment to make the customer happy.

I was so impressed with Sudlow Concrete. I had called several concrete vendors for estimates to repair our front walkway that had been lifted by a tree root. In the main, response from all was VERY poor. Only Bill Sudlow and Sudlow Concrete were responsive. Bill and his team were timely and the work was excellent. I highly recommend them.

The address above states Atlanta. Called to schedule and estimate. Upon calling to schedule an estimate, the first question I was asked? "What city are you out of?" I gave a response. His reply, "We don't serve that city," even though my county is clearly listed in the service area. Discriminatory much? I will take my business elsewhere.

They did a great job replacing the sidewalk for us at a reasonable price. Thank you for a job well done!

Based on the excellent ratings on Angie?s List, I called Bill Sudlow to give me a quote on an elaborate project I was planning to remove the walkway to my deck so concrete could be poured on the sloped side of my house (both sides have narrow property boundaries). This was all part of my grand plan to have easier access to my back yard for grading with a bobcat. It didn?t take Bill even 10 minutes of listening to me, to recognize that my plan was totally flawed and to convince me that my back yard project could be completed without the type of equipment I had in mind. I?m not sure how many thousands of dollars that Bill just saved me? I wish I could hire Bill to coach me on all of my other home improvement projects!

The job was complex given the large amount of landscaping that needed to be removed and the fact that I live on a busy street. They were punctual, on quote and did quality work.

Mr. Sudlow was very professional. He was able to come out to do the project sooner than he expected and finished in one day. The patio looks great!

Bill only does one thing and he does it well. Gave me a competitive quote. Showed up on time, completed the work on time and honored a slight modification on the job site. Very customer friendly company to work with.

Of the three companies who provided estimates for our driveway, Sudlow Concrete was the only one who addressed our concerns and stayed within our very tight budget. When our long driveway developed a sinkhole making it impassable we needed a solution that would prevent the hole from re-appearing a year or two from now and also one that addressed the major cracks which had developed elsewhere in the concrete. Unlike the other companies who insisted on doing the entire driveway at considerably higher cost, Sudlow proposed replacing only two large sections. We would never make the cover of a magazine but we would sleep at night knowing we hadn't spent money we didn't have and the sink hole would be taken care of for good. Key to the service this company provides is frequent on-site supervision of the company owner, Bill Sudlow. This was in no small way responsible for our overall satisfaction of the job. The team arrived promptly each morning and Bill was available on-site or by phone for every question we had (there were plenty). What we feared more than anything else was a cement job that was sub-standard. Concrete isn't easily corrected once it is poured. The confidence Bill and his crew earned through their attention to detail was significant. The sinkhole has now been filled in and concrete with "rebar" poured on top of it. I have a five year warranty against it coming back - a standard policy for Sudlow Concrete. The second worst part of the driveway has also been replaced and the trip hazards on my front walk have also been repaired. In all, Bill Sudlow understood what our problems were and that controlling cost had to be part of the solution. We are completely satisfied with the work he did and HIGHLY recommend his company to all.

The scheduling and work of replacing the driveway went well. There were some problems with the concrete that was poured. Bill Sudlow was very good about getting the job done to perfection. He was easy to work with and determined to make it right.

First of all, our driveway looks fantastic. They crew did an excellent job of removing all the dirt and, to save them from having to haul it away, we told them they could spread it out in our wooded area. They didn't leave a single mark on the lawn and I can't say enough how well that all went. Bill, the owner, stayed through the whole process to make sure we were happy because there had been some communication issues up front when some turnover in the company caused one missed appointment and we dropped off of their radar for a number of months. But once we were back on the radar, Bill was very responsive and got us on the schedule in a timely manner. The only thing that would have made the experience better would have been if they had suggested NOT removing all the dirt to the woods because we now need to buy dirt to build up the yard behind the new pad. Never having done this kind of thing before, we didn't think of that, but the new pad is a good 4" above the lawn level at the end because of a slight grade in the yard in that area. But the driveway is beautiful and they poured it and matched it up to our old one just perfectly. I think others will get an A experience from Sudlow Concrete, but because of the early miscommunications and the issue with the end of the driveway, I'll have to give them a B. But we will call Sudlow Concrete again, should we ever need another concrete job!

The driveway looks amazing and I am very happy with it! I get so many complements on it! Bill was very easy to work with and very accessible. That meant a lot to me when I had a lot of questions. Pricing was very good compared to their big competitors who did not even follow up with me. When there was a mistake in quoting, he did not hesitate to eat the mistake and do what was right for me. I would recommend him to anyone.

I enjoyed working with Bill and his crew. Bill started the project promptly and the work proceeded continuously without interruption. Bill's crew knowledgeable and friendly. Bill was at the job site regularly to check progress and to make sure the project was proceeding as per our specifications. The price paid was a great value given the scope of the project.

If you read all the "F" reviews for Sudlow, you start to see a theme and pattern. My experience was no different. I contacted Bill Sudlow several months ago to pour a concrete patio under my existing deck (approximately 16'x12'). Bill gave me a quote over the phone and I invited him to the home to take measurements and confirm the estimate. He came the next day, but couldn't remember what the project was (he thought he was there to look at the driveway). I reminded him that it was the patio, and he proceeded to give me an estimate much higher than he quoted over the phone the previous day (he actually couldn't remember what he quoted over the phone). He then tried to justify the higher cost, which sounded more like excuses. I provided him with a coupon from his Angie's List page and his website, and he claimed that the coupon had expired -- even though it had clearly not. When this was pointed out, he tried to negotiate a lower discount for his own coupon. I also found it odd that as part of the patio project he said he couldn't haul away any of the debris, but would have to throw it in the woods behind the house. I should have taken all of this as a warning sign, but nevertheless, I got him to come down to his original quote and I proceeded to sign a contract with him. He told me he would call in 2-3 weeks to schedule service. I never heard from him again! I called a couple of times to follow-up, but never received a return call. Horrible experience. Horrible service. Complete waist of time. In the end, I contacted another concrete provider a week ago and now have a beautiful, new patio. This other concrete provider completed the job within a week of me contacting them. Perhaps I should consider it a blessing that I never heard from Sudlow again.

They did a good job. They tried to up sell me other services, which I did not like. They did the job as expected. They got really busy so I could not get the job done when I wanted it to be done.

Outstanding job by Bill and his crew. Upfront with all considerations concerning the job site, responsive to changes during construction, and provided exactly what I requested in a timely manner. Look forward to having Sudlow Concrete back for the next phase of our construction.

I contacted Bill Sudlow and inquired about a driveway replacement. He asked me to text him my address, which I did right after the call. During the phone call he asked if I was in the city of Atlanta, which I am. He said to be sure I indicated that on my text. I never heard back from him. When I searched other reviews after the fact, I saw that I'm not the first to have this experience. If the company prefers not to deal with the City, then why not say so. It would save everyone some time and effort.

They did a great job. I tried to start this job myself with the jackhammer. He singlehandedly knocked this out in about 4 1/2 hours. I was impressed with his work. The driveway looks good.

Mr. Sudlow was out on the job site with his crew bright and early. His crew was polite and worked with me when I walked the job site with them, responding to every comment or suggestion I made. Provided exactly what we asked for and did a wonderful job. His crew were excellent craftsmen in their trade. I would recommend this group for any concrete needs.
