Philpot is the local name for Atlas Van Lines.
They were excellent when they started, friendly and professional. The office people I worked with were excellent and responsive. I liked the driver and he was professional and packed well. As they got tired on the third day they got in a hurry and things were not packed as well and less organized. When they emptied the truck, they did a good job unloading and placing everything where I requested. When they were finished unloading they put the beds and table that they originally dismantled back together. The did not re-attached the desks that had a top and bottom that had the top screwed into the base. This was very disappointing since I am not strong enough to move the furniture to re-attach it nor do I have the screws they removed.
Problems:
1. They did not number boxes so I have no idea if all boxes were delivered and accounted for.
2. Did not re-attach tops to 5 tall desks that they disassembled.
3. Roughly 20 boxes were incorrectly marked as to its contents so ended up in the wrong place. One was actually marked trash but had valuable things enclosed. One box had the contents of several drawers just dumped into the top of a box already packed to fill it the rest of the way.
4. Misc damage included broken handle on book case, broken antique scale, chuck of wood broken out of book case, lost key to antique record player. Small fragil items broken. All of it did not add up to lots of money and with the insurance covering only $/pound and a high $ deductable, it did not help
5. For one of the unpackers, he just dumped the contents of several boxes on top of the other on the bed with fragile hand carved items among metal and wood boxes and heavy tools. Some small items were broken.
Overall, the experience began well but at the end I was very disappointed in the quality of their work and can not recomend them.

Four Philpot employees spent 2 full days packing up the contents of our house and partially loading the truck. They arrived on time each day, worked very hard, handled and wrapped all items carefully, and were pleasant and friendly. The entire third day was spent finishing loading the truck. The day before they starting packing at our house they packed and loaded everything at our daughter's townhouse. The decision to combine moves was made at the last minute. The Philpot sales rep was able to accommodate this addition without any problem. His assistant checked with us frequently to be sure all was going well throughout the whole move. The truck arrived in Florida exactly on schedule. Our daughter's furniture was temporarily placed in their company storage, then our furniture and boxes were delivered. We are still unpacking (we had a huge number of boxes) but have yet to find any damage. We will not know about our daughter's furniture until she takes it out of storage but don't expect any problems. All and all every aspect went very well. There were no surprises with the price, and all personnel were very professional and nice to deal with. Only Philpot employees participated in this move. We highly recommend them and would definitely use this company again.

.We relocated from the Atlanta Metro area to Newport News, Virginia. Estimates were given and a fixed price was given. We knew upfront what we would be paying before they even started. We had 3 companies to select from, one came in lower but the professionalism was questionable. Another company came in higher so we selected Philpot Relocation Services. They packed up all of our belongings the first day (Friday) and loaded them the next day (Saturday). The workers were courteous and efficient at their work. It was evident that they were all experienced. Our goods were delivered the following Tuesday. They arrived at 3pm and were completed and gone by 6pm. After the truck was unloaded they conducted an inventory of what they had delivered and were very concerned when one small box was unaccounted for. They searched for the box for 30 minutes checking everything they had unloaded and what was remaining on the truck before finding it inside one of the cabinets. After everything was accounted for they asked if we needed any help unpacking any of our goods. I would definitely recommend this company to anyone who needs their services.

They were excellent. They surveyed the whole house and estimated poundage of everything. They also made recommendations on how to move the appliances. The professionals helped pack my dishes. They placed the furniture as I instructed them to. It was a great experience.

They were good, conscientious, and quick. The driver, I think her name was Vicky, ran a good crew. We were very pleased.

They were very professional and hard working. I completely trusted them with my belongings. We had a few missing pieces discovered after we moved in, but nothing major. These items were later located and returned. They were prompt and worked very hard for a full day without breaks. I was very happy with the packers and movers overall.
