Excellent. David was patient, thorough, and neat. Pat Murphy Electric was prompt in their replies, professional, and in every way a pleasure to deal with.
Description of Work: Pat Murphy's electrician, at our request, went over a house my wife and I had just purchased, identifying and repairing potential problem areas, such as missing GFCI receptacles, broken receptacles, and missing covers on junction boxes. In addition, David, the electrician who performed the work on our house, installed new outlets for a washer and dryer.

I missed my first appointment with these guys, and they were very nice about rescheduling. I got a call from the electrician telling me when he was on his way, and he arrived on time. He was very courteous, and quickly put estimates together for me on the work that was done as well as putting in an additional outlet (which was too expensive a project for me at $180). He finished the job in 2 hours, was careful about using a drop cloth for the mess, and cleaned up when the project was done. The new fixture was installed well. Of course, they didn't repair the hole left in the ceiling by the old fixture - but he was clear about that before he started the work. Overall, it seemed a bit expensive, but the company was delightful to work with. I didn't have a second estimate to compare, but I would have chosen Pat Murphy even if I had gotten a slightly lower estimate - definitely worth a little extra money for the service.
Description of Work: I had a broken exhaust fan with a separate light fixture replaced with a single light/fan fixture in my bathroom.

A friend told me about them. They stuck to the quote and had very reasonable pricing. They showed up on time and got the job done very quickly. They have an added personal touch where they send out the same electrician if you have a problem, or who calls for follow-up and feedback.
Description of Work: They installed two ceiling fans in my house. They also had to do some re-wiring and stabilizing in the attic.

Pat Murphy Electric was good to me. He is very knowledgeable and had no problems with the work as he did it. He was professional and reasonable. I have used him before and will use him again. He was not here long and explained different things to me and answered questions I had about other situations. I thought that was very nice of him.

They were clean and very professional. They did great workmanship as the chandelier was a hard job as we have high ceilings. They arrived when they said they would, finished the job in a timely manner, cleaned up everything and were respectful of our home. I thought they were a little pricey though.

We found Pat Murphy Electric Incorporated on Angie's List and were very satisfied with their work. This was a big job, but we felt that the cost was too high. They did come when they said they would and were polite and very neat.

A convenient appointment was set. Gerald and Terrence called before they came, were on time. They were very professional and pleasant. I was concerned that this might be a difficult problem because the wires for this circuit run all over the house. They explained that trouble shooting was done on an hourly basis, $135 for the first hour and $85 for subsequent hours. Luckily it was just a bad breaker switch. It took them about 5 minutes to identify the problem and about 5 minutes to retrieve a new breaker switch from their truck and install it. They did not charge the per hour rate, minimum 1 hour, but charged the rate to replace a breaker switch, which was less, then they gave me an Angie's list discount.
Description of Work: Outside flood lights would not come on. Breaker was tripped and would not reset.

Jimmy provided an estimate on a lot of things we wanted done and gave us a few options to choose from. We started with 7 outlets inside the house. Jimmy and Rodney started right away. They were very careful to lay tarps to not make a mess, and they cleaned up as they went along -- not just at the end of the day. A week later, we scheduled another appointment to have additional work from the estimate done. Jimmy and Terrence again were very careful to move and cover all our furniture, and lay tarps on the floors. They consulted with us on our precise placement of the lights during installation; they placed the lights exactly where we wanted, and they were very careful when cutting into our very old plaster ceilings that already had many cracks. Again, they were very careful about cleaning up. They explained everything they were doing. They were very professional. And they worked very hard in the 100 degree heat!
Description of Work: Jimmy and Rodney installed 7 new outlets in the house. Then, Jimmy and Terrence returned to install 6 can lights in the living room, 5 can lights in the dining room, 2 outdoor GFCI outlets, and wiring for a ceiling fan.

Gerald called to let me know he was nearby and arrived on time. He was personable and attentive as I walked him through the work I wanted him to estimate. He took notes, repeated back to me to confirm the list, went to his truck and returned shortly with an estimate. He explained the estimate including the Angie's List discount. He proceeded to do the work efficiently and thoroughly. After finishing the work I'd chosen to have him do he checked back on an item he had estimated but not performed and laid out options for having that work done at a later date. He was welcome in our home for the duration of the work and would be welcomed back.

Got four different estimates and felt most comfortable with Pat Murphy from both a personnel standpoint and pricing standpoint. Two day turnaround on starting work from the time I made arrangements with their office. Electrician David was incredibly helpful and focused on the job. He and his crew took about 6 business days to complete the job and were open to adding and subtracting elements of the work as the job went along. They kept us up-to-date with the progress and offered us options when they were applicable. A real pleasure to work with.
Description of Work: Doing a renovation of a 1962 ranch and needed an extensive amount of electrical work done including a complete 200A upgrade, change-over from fuse to circuit breakers, 17 recessed lights throughout house, 4 braced fan boxes, installation of numerous GFIs and additional outlets and switch boxes, including some in floor and a number of 3-ways, inter-connected smoke alarms, a new 240V home run circuit and box for HVAC unit.

I scheduled the appointment for 8AM on Monday morning. The receptionist advised that the crew would arrive between 8 and 8:30 AM. The electrician (Jimmy) called me up at 7:45 AM to let me know he was on his way and promptly arrived at 5 mins. after 8. He and his colleague were polite, efficient and knowledgeable. They completed the work within an hour. The power problem had to do with the Power meter, on the outside of the house, not touching all 4 connections properly. Additionally, they replaced the dimmer switch and determined that the back-yard light cables were eaten through and they gave me a quote for how much it would take should I choose to follow-up. At the end of the day I was very happy with the work. Glad it wasn't more.
Description of Work: After a black-out, I was receiving partial power to my home. Some rooms had light (including power to the corresponding electrical sockets), other rooms did not. GA Power advised me that I probably had weak breakers and that I needed an electrician. On my initial phone call, I asked them to fix a dimmer switch that was causing my bedroom lights to flicker and investigate a back-yard tree mounted light that was not working.

Calvin arrived at the appointment time to provide an estimate for the work. We agreed on the price at that time, parts were ordered, and an installation date was agreed upon. Calvin and Mike arrived promptly at 8 AM as promised and completed the work by mid-afternoon, again, as promised. Both Calvin and Mike were extremely professional and did a great job on the installation and clean-up.
Description of Work: The company installed a power line and connected a new hot tub. The project involved reconfiguring the electrical panel to accommodate a 50 AMP breaker, pulling of wire to an external panel, and final hook-up to the tub.

We thought it went well. After the workers had gone, we found that neither the furnace nor the dryer would start. We call Pat Murphy and told them. They sent another team and they fixed the problem with the dryer. They could fix the furnace. We have a contract with another company so they came to check the furnace. They said that the circuit board was blown out. The cause was likely a power surge. I called Pat Murphy and asked them if they could have caused the power surge. The lady said she would have the service manager call me. The call never came. I called again and made the same request. Again, no response. The people who did the job were very professional. The office was very unprofessional.

Electrician came & initially seemed at a bit of a loss about what the problem might be. Eventually decided that perhaps the breaker switch (which had been GFI) was simply too sensitive & replaced the breaker with a non-GFI circuit. This also necessitated replacing the outlet/switch next to the sink with a GFI outlet. I was a little annoyed when the service tech suggested that I should replace my 2-switch, 2-outlet fixture with a 2-switch, single outlet fixture- simply because he didn't have the correct configuration on his truck. He informed me that he'd have to charge me for the time it would take to go to Home Depot to get the correct fixture (further than two nearer hardware stores, but where they have an account). Nonetheless, everything was replaced successfully & we've had no further problems.
Description of Work: Had issues over a weekend with a breaker tripping (which serviced both refrigerator & home computer). Since refrigerator & computer both functioned normally plugged into other outlets, we needed to have situation assessed & remedied.

Things went quite well. The electrician, Paul, was prompt and clearly explained what he could do to meet my needs. Furthermore, he worked quickly and cleaned up before he left. There was one small correction to be made before he left, but he resolved the issue quickly, and everything works properly. Though the price worked out to be about $100/hour, it was worth it to me. It would have taken me much longer to figure out how to do what Paul was able to in just a few hours.
Description of Work: The electrician relocated two light switches to a different wall and added a third switch, split power from one existing power source to two junction boxes, and added a new line for a light that I will have installed at a later date. He also modified an existing GF outlet connection to work independently of the second bathroom (the two GF units were affecting each other from across the condo).
