50 Floor

Would NOT recommend this company for flooring. They were not respectful of our home; we came home to Coke spilled on our walls, holes in our walls from swinging of the doors, and closet doors broken. They responded by saying we accepted this when we signed the contract and they are not responsible for "wear and tear" of the house. We just had our house repainted prior to their visit and needless to say we were not happy about going back and repainting it. They did not call before they arrived and they were never here when the company said they were suppose to be. At the beginning of our contract, they said it would take three days; it took them two weeks to complete the job and they are still here 6 weeks later fixing the floors. They did not lay the floor properly so there are pieces of wood that are sticking up. They did a half way completed job and called it good. I called the manager and he came out to look and was not happy. However, they still have not fixed the problems. They started this job a week before Christmas and they still have not finished everything in our house. We are VERY disappointed with this company and their lack of respect for our home.

Called the house just prior to arrival at 8:45, scheduled for 9. They were completely done and cleaned up by 5:30 PM. I never thought they would get it all done in one day. A very efficient team came in and it was a pleasure.

50 Floor started well - a friendly salesman, good crew - and they did a pretty good job of moving furniture, removing carpeting, sanding, staining and sealing my floors in all but one room. Unfortunately, I stopped the process to have walls painted and then couldn't get them back to move all the furniture back in place for over two weeks. That became agravating; but the job was done well and at a very good price. Crew spoke very little English.

Very professional, arrived on time and did exactly what they said they would do. Moved all the furniture and put it back to my liking, very polite and considerate. Would use them again without hesitation!

The sales guys was good and thorough and the installation guy showed up on time - both good. But after the installation, I noticed a soft spot in the flooring. An area approximately 6 feet by 2 feet would bow down an inch (give or take) every time someone walks on the floor. This is in the highest traffic portion of the room - where the hallway and kitchen both merge into the room. I called several times before even getting someone to discuss this with in person. They did come back out to look at it and spent some time fixing it but it still is not to my expectation. The floor still sinks when you walk across it in this one place quite a bit. No one from the company has done any follow up with me after the first installation and the subsequent repair. I am not satisfied with the lack of quality of the installation or their inattentiveness to me as a customer, especially since they did not follow up after a repair was performed.

I was impressed from the beginning. Britt, the sales consultant, showed up on time and provide great samples of carpet and hardwoods. He is very knowledgeable and guided me through the purchase and installation process. I decide to split the work (carpet one month and hardwood the next month). The crews arrived at the appointed time and completed the work on time. They were very friendly and did a great job of returning the furniture where it was originally located. They cleaned up at the end of the work and left everything in great shape.

Initial contact was made and salesman scheduled the home visit. After discussing our needs, he made measurements and then we reviewed his sample selection. We were very disappointed in this small selection. A preliminary selection was made and he hand wrote a quotation. This initial quote was for approx. $20,000.00. This price was a little shocking and he then removed about $4,000.00 from the quote because "free installation" was the special for the month. No formal quote was provided, only hand written. Not very professional! Small selection of flooring choices - we were specific in the initial contact as to what we were looking for Very high quote, even with the "free" installation. This was very frustrating because the salesman talked about this companies great prices. I understand now how they can afford to do all the TV and radio advertising. Overall, the professionalism just wasn't there!

The 50 Floor crew moved the furniture in four bedrooms and a hallway, removed all the old (15yr+) carpet and padding, installed all new padding and carpet, and put all furniture back in place. At the same time, they removed old outdoor carpeting on our screen porch and installed all-weather vinyl flooring. The crew was excellent. They worked from 9am - 8pm on a Saturday to finish the work on our schedule.

Very professional and timely. The only issue encountered (istallers cut home alarm wires in baseboard) was resolved completely at no cost to me.

Salesman was very helpful, on-time, and informative. He returned after I took time to consider the potential contract. Installation went smoothly and quickly (tile required 2 days and lots of labor to remove old 28 yr old tile, then clean to ready for new tile, time for tile to set over night for 2nd day to grout). Toilets must be removed 1st day and reinstalled 2nd day. One old toilet valve sprung an unnoticeable leak (until it WAS noticeable!), but 50 Floor paid me back for the extra expenses for repair w/no delay - only required a receipt from repairmen.

The installers were on time and very professional. They took out all the old carpet and installed the new floors. They moved all the furniture and put it back where it belonged. They even helped us to put pads on the bottom of the larger furniture. Clean up was terrific, we did not have to anything after they left. Since installation we noticed an item that needed attention and after one call we have scheduled a work order to rectify the issue. 50Floor is great! RECOMEND HIGHLY.

Salesman was rude and insulting.. He criticized my home and work that had been done in the past. He only brought a few samples and when I took a picture of a sample to send to my daughter for her opinion he got mad and started putting his samples away saying he wanted a decision today and I didn't need another opinion if I was the decision maker. I was the decision maker since this was my apartment in my daughters basement. That doesn't mean I didn't want a second opinion and certainly was not going to be pressured into a decision on the spot. He scribbled an estimate on a piece of scrap paper. I was happy to just get him out of my home and called his manager

They did a great job. They did have to come back and do some glue downs of things that got loose. Overall, I was pleased. Nice people.

50 Floor was on time for the sales visit and later installation. We wanted to upgrade some of our flooring to help sell our house. We bought on a free installation promotion that was about to expire (last day of the month radio special) and we probably signed up too hurriedly. In hindsight I'd have gotten 1 or 2 other quotes before placing the order because we're not knowledgeable about flooring and their sales rep was. We didn't know difference between nailed vs floating hardwood nor types of laminates. He said they sold a higher remodeler grade not lower builder grade and that we'd be satisfied with their quality. He offered some helpful suggestions that would help sell our house. But he didn't quote us the sq ft prices of the components and rooms, although that was the basis for the subtotals and totals of pricing that came out of his laptop computer. Our total was $13,600 less $2,800 in free installation, $200 radio coupons, for net price of $10,600. We received an extra radio ad $100 coupon because of the size of our order. The next day their monthly radio ad changed to 60% off all orders. We inquired about the free installation special we got and their response was that based on our combination of hardwood and carpeting, we received a lower price than we would have under their new special. That was supposedly because our order didn't include certain vinyl materials that were discounted in the new promotion. I gave them an A rating overall and in every category except Price because they did perform a good job. They let us select the installation day we wanted, they were punctual, and best of all their crew supervisor, Roger, was exceptional. He walked us through what they would be doing, pointing out that the amount of installation time it might take depended on the quality of our existing sub-flooring. Ours turned out to be okay. Roger had a crew of 4 other workers and they were careful in moving our heavy furniture around. We were required to have all loose items, shoes, knick-knacks, etc. off the floor before they arrived. The installation on a Friday took more than one day because ours was a big job and a crew member had to leave early due to a family emergency. All that was left at the end of that day was to carpet two stairways the next morning, a Saturday. There was a mix-up on times, however, and I called the 50 Floor office on a Sat. morning. I was concerned they might be closed or not able to reach the installer. They put me in touch with Roger within minutes. We agreed to have the job finished on Monday morning and it was. Roger still needed to install a small finishing part for the hardwood that had been out of stock on the original installation day. When it came in stock a few days later, he called me then came out and installed it in a few minutes. A few days after that we noticed that the very bottom of the lowest stair looked like the new carpeting could unravel. Roger came back out a few days later along with a carpet installer and put a finishing piece on the bottom of both carpeted stairways, which dressed them up and solved the problem. We paid by credit card, unaware there was a discount available for cash. We paid 1/2 when we signed up for the order and the other 1/2 when all finishing pieces had been completed and the job was finally done. The minor delay in finishing off the installation didn't bother us because the work had been performed well and the 50 Floor people were very accommodating to us. They let us pay with separate reward credit cards and they always followed up on everything they said they would. Our new floors have been in for a month now. They look good and I think we'll recoup some of the cost when we sell our upgraded house.

Salesman (Chip) was punctual and nice. The 'call' lasted about 1.5hours - he took the time to tell me about the company etc. The negative about the sales call... I spent a lot of time looking at a sample card trying to match my existing flooring - not really a good choice in the portfolio. BTW a perfect match will not happen with 10 year old flooring - so that was not the issue. My existing floor is builder grade of course - which means it is not #1 flooring. The cards I was shown and quoted were #1. Beautiful flooring, but not a close match and $$$$ expensive. After the measuring and discussing was complete - I received the first quote - way too much. I would have ended the meeting (and subsequently installed the floor myself)... BUT another sample card was retrieved from the car - it had a near perfect match not only in color, but grade - it was a mix of grades very much like my builder grade floor. And voila the second quote was about a third cheaper. I agreed to pay cash (they offer a cash discount) and I also received a $100 off for mentioning the news lady 'Jill', and another $150 law enforcement discount. Hindsight, I should have negotiated down further - the clue was when Chip asked how much I was 'looking to spend' after I balked at the first quote.... I paid a 50% deposit, received my receipts, discussed warranty, insurance, the employees/contractors etc. I was informed it would be approximately two weeks before I would get a call to schedule the install. I received a call two business days later and was able to schedule the install for the following Friday - seven days from sales call to completion. I am very happy with that. Installers were scheduled for 0830-1000 today. Arrived as scheduled. 4 men - all Hispanic. Language was not a problem - the crew leader spoke fluent English. They began work immediately. The furniture was moved and the carpet, pad, and strips were up and out very quickly. One complaint - since I had installed flooring previously, I was aware that the prep work - removing staples and ensuring that screw/nail heads were down is important. Because of that, they did a better job at floor prep than they had planned on doing... Another complaint - they should use a shop vac instead of sweeping, not only less dust, but the vac does a better job... they should also use the shop vac to suck up the dust from the undercut saw as they are sawing... I used my own shop vac and cleaned the area - I tried not to get in the way - but I probably slowed things down by about 15 minutes. The installed floor is beautiful - it is obvious that these men have done this a time or two. They are nearly finished with the quarter round, so this will be a done deal soon - it is 1830 now. They still have to clean up a little and move the furniture back. I am already pleased - this cost me about $1200 more than doing it myself (the same flooring at Lowes was recently on sale for $3.99 a sq foot). Well worth it - they are done in a day - I would still be working on this at least 5 more days (not to mention sore knees and back). I will spend this evening and part of tomorrow putting my house back together (nicnacs and pictures) and DUSTING everything, but overall I am pleased.

There was not enough tile to complete the job. I was told by sales person that they could lay the tile in a diamond shape. Installers did it in one bathroom but not in the other. Not enough tile to do this. Had to pick up additional tile to finish the job. Job was still completed in two days. Sales person should understand better what is involved in doing that. We did pay additional money for them to install the diamond shape for two bathrooms.

We heard about this company from a radio advertisement and were enticed to call about getting our carpets replaced. The radio deal said 60% off, etc. etc. However, this deal was probably doomed from the start. Our initial telephone contact with the company was handled by a person who was not particularly friendly or accommodating. In fact, the scheduler seemed quite unhappy with having to deal with scheduling our sales call. I told my wife that several other reviewers made similar comments about scheduling with this company and after this point in the sales process things should improve. So, we continued with scheduling an appointment. The salesman arrived on time and was friendly and well dressed. He brought samples. It did not take very long to understand the price point of this company. All of the samples were the same material. His company only sold one type of pad. Carpets are made of made from many different materials; polyester, nylon, corn, etc. These materials have different price points and different properties. I wanted to see nylon carpeting, but he said he didn't sell very much of that, so he didn't have any to really show me. When I explained why I was partial to a particular carpet material, the salesman said that he thought I was in the business. I just told him that I was an informed consumer (which is the truth). He then abruptly concluded his sales call and left. At least he didn't waste my time with excuses, so that's a plus. Given the initial experience with the person who scheduled our sales call, the lack of selection of carpet and zero pad options, I would look elsewhere. Perhaps the salesman thought I was just fooling around with him, but this was not the case. I felt I wasted my time dealing with 50 Floor.

It was a good experience overall. The guy who gave the estimate was very chatty (stayed for a long time). But, he was nice and we felt the price was fantastic so we were patient about that. He arrived late but knocked off $ for that also. We also got a discount for paying with cash and he gave us the upcoming promo that we weren't even aware of instead of the current promo we had called about because it saved us more $. The carpet was backordered, so it took a bit longer than expected to start the job, but once it was in, we have been very satisfied.

They were on time and professional.

The quality of the carpet was excellent and the installers were top notch. I thought they were excellent for the services provided by the carpet people. I was not as pleased with the installers for the engineered; their installers were not as efficient and their finishing work was not top notch. However, the company itself is trying very hard to get my problems rectified and fixed. I am not complaining about the company but I am complaining about the hardwood installers; I think the crew that came to my house was not as qualified as they needed to be though there were enough and more people. I was happy with the price for the carpet but for the engineered hardwood thought I liked the product I did not like the finishing. It is the same company but two different groups that install. Their prices are highly comparable.

Called 50 Floor and a sales rep. came to our home and we picked carpet and vinyl for our home. The installers came out and installed the carpet and vinyl in our home. We like the flooring and the installers were very good. If I had anything else to add it would be that I wish we knew if what we picked was in the good, better or best category. I did not ask and it did not say on the samples. We would use them again. Thanks, 50 Floor

Bad experience overall. Salesman quoted about $1,600 over other competitors, but that didn't include binding which the others did. Had to pay out of pocket for binding to another company. The communication between sales and installers was poor. Installer did good work in some places and somewhat shoddy in other places. So, I was satisfied with the majority of the work, but the small details and some big details brought the quality of work way down. Should have gone with another company. Won't use them again.

50 floor did not provide new flooring for me, but they did help me determine that the source of flooring issues might be a problem with my home's foundation. I am very grateful to the sales rep, B. Brooks, who chose to help me diagnose the real source of my problem rather than sell me flooring products that I might have had to replace again in a few years. Representative was knowledgeable and helpful. Installation team was professional. However, they did tend to leave a mess in the front and backyards which we had to clean up.
