2018 Super Service Award Winner in Roofing, Painting Exterior, Gutters, Drywall, Decks/Porches and Carpentry Unfinished! There are many construction companies out there that will only help you solve half or less of your project needs, meaning you need to use more than one company to get what you want done. One company will install a roof system, but won't do the soffit work, or one will install Hardiplank siding but won't paint it. At Housworth, we are one company with expertise in many areas of construction. We won't leave any project half done. Housworth was established in 1929 by Gladis Housworth. It was known as the Housworth Plumbing Company up until the time it was taken over by Jack Patrick. It then became Housworth Construction. It is now managed by Laila Patrick the current CEO. We have been under Laila Patrick's leadership for the past 12yrs. Locally owned & operated. Additional contact name - 2018 Super Service Award Winner in Roofing, Painting Exterior, Gutters,& Drywall.

I used Housworth Roofing & Construction Inc to make some repairs to my roof. I had to ask for a warranty on that. It was for 90 days. After 90 days my roof shingles that this company repaired all needed replacing again.

Housworth gave you a estimate for $700.00 for replacing missing shingles that were blown off your roof. Anytime shingles are missing from a roof system it typically means that they were installed incorrectly. Our workmanship warranty for this type of repair is 90 days. Our records indicate that you also took a $50.00 credit from Angies List which brought the total to $650.00 for the repairs to your roof system. Our office has nothing on file that you called with any issues after your warranty period.
Housworth Roofing & Construction Inc provided a remodeling quote to finish part of our basement. Their website advertises they do remodeling, and they offer their remodeling services on Angie's list as well, they even posted various remodeling and builders accreditation's. Convinced we were dealing with a professional, licensed contractor, we hired them, the initial quote for framing, electric, drywall, hvac, tiling was over $30,000. The first part was framing. Richard hired a subcontractor and we started the project, in the middle of the framing project, Richard told us that the subcontractor will need to add fire blocking in the ceiling and it will be a little bit more about $600 to add that fire blocking plywood which was not included in the original quote. We gave the ok over the phone. After the framing work was completed, Richard told us that his subcontractor gave him an additional invoice for $1250 for that additional fire blocking and that is the amount we have to pay him on top of the previously quoted amount. He also asked to be paid in cash. We were extremely upset because that is not the amount he told us on the phone and not the amount we approved. We went back-and-forth disputing, in meantime I called the subcontractor and asked him about that extra invoice. The subcontract told us he never requested even 1 cent for adding fire blocking, he just added it for free. Richard is a Very dishonest person. After checking GA.gov licensing website, we learned that Housworth Roofing & Construction Inc DOES NOT HAVE general contractor license. They are not allowed to offer remodeling services and after checking the accreditation that they posted on Angie's list like NARI - [web link removed] or NAHB [web link removed], we learned they DO NOT have those accreditations. THESE CREDENTIALS ARE A LIE. Richard claims he never said he was a general contractor and we hired him knowing that. If he is not a general contractor then why does he provide services of a general contractor? Why does their website offer remodeling services? HE provides a quote, he hires subcontractors, he sends invoices and collects payments with profits included. DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY, CHECK ALL THE FACTS AND ALL THE CREDENTIALS. Richard is very good at lying. If he lied to us, he most likely lies to everybody else which means he will lie to you too. CHECK every aspect of their business before you hire them.

We respect the opinions all our customers good or bad. We are currently investigating this matter; however, we would have hoped that [Member Name Removed] would have contacted our office concerning these matters. We are now learning that correspondence and phone calls were not made to our office, but only to Richard. We find this strange that [Member Name Removed] of [Member Information Removed] would only correspond with Richard and not the company. We will update our response after our investigation is complete.

Richard from Housworth came to the house and before he had even looked at the roof said that we probably had hail or wind damage and that he could get me a new roof through my insurance for free. He then climbed on the roof and saw 9 shingles that were damaged and said that if I didn't choose to file an insurance claim for a new roof, their minimum charge would be $550 to replace the 9 damaged shingles. My fianceé said that price was ridiculous so he reduced it to $450 because I had used their company in the past. I was 7 days away from closing and did not need the hassle of insurance claims, etc., plus my insurance agent said that if they agreed there was damage, any insurance coverage would be prorated because of the age of the roof (16 years). I called a second company, Kaiser Siding and Roofing, and he only saw 1 damaged shingle, did not mention needing a new roof or any hail or wind damage, and replaced the 1 damaged shingle for a minimum charge of $225. Still high but half of the reduced rate from Housworth.

This company placed my new roof over six years ago at great work and price. The representative has returned more than once at my request and goes to great detail in examining and documenting by camera anything on my roof that is a cause of concern with new hail or wind, etc. This time he carefully analyzed my insurance company's settlement check and paperwork and explained it all to me and showed me the pluses and minuses of how they did it. He is the same rep. that took care of us years ago (Richard). He happens to be married to the owner of the company (Jennifer, I think...but maybe not right name). She seems to answer many calls personally and clearly is fully dedicated to her business. I understand this is a family business of generations before her, but whatever success her father/grandfather had, I couldn't imagine how pleased they would be if they knew how well (I suspect even better) she was doing to honor and continue their legacy. Imagine that! A male roofer/construction worker in Georgia in the 60's or 70's being told he had worked hard forever on his company and done very well, but nothing like his daughter would one day make it become??? I suspect he would spit out some chew and laugh loudly:) Oh well. This company is an outlier. Morally sound. In it for the long haul customer by customer. Richard knows me and my wife and our children by name. Very competent and professional. Many roofers chase storms and then leave. Don't make my mistake and let one talk his way onto your roof. Call Housworth and then spend your time with your job or family because your roof will be fully taken care of!
Description of Work: Inspected hail damage on roof and guided me/educated me on how a "door to door" salesman improperly lead me to filing an insurance claim that was not in my best interest.

Everything went great and the project manager Luis Vasquez was very helpful and resourceful; he selected our colors and his customer service skills spoke volumes; he was the greatest! They started working a little later than we expected but the project took only two days as Luis stated. Although we noticed additional caulking was needed after the project was completed, the painter had to come back twice, but the second time, the painter completed a thorough walk through without me having to suggest that he check additional areas. Also, the payment was processed immediately but ironically I had to follow up with the company concerning the receipt and warranty but overall they deserve an ?A?. My only recommendation is that the project manager compete a walk through first, after the project is completed; and then complete second a walk through with the customer, in order to address any concerns the customer may have. It was our pleasure doing Business with Housworth!

I was very pleased with the work that Housworth did and I would heartily recommend them to anyone that needs any type of repairs or new construction. About 10 years ago, we had a screened porch built on top of an existing deck and recently realized that there was significant water damage/rot around the sides and back of the deck and where it connected to the house. Richard Anderson came to the house to assess what could be done. He is very knowledgeable and I felt very comfortable with his assessment. Although he provided an original estimate that was based on what he could see, he was very upfront about the possibility of additional issues that couldn't be seen until ripping out the damaged wood. As you might expect, we did encounter additional issues (such as finding that the deck wasn't level, etc.) but they would let me know how much each additional item would cost before they began the work. Lupe, their Master Carpenter, is the best! He was very creative about how to approach the work and he explained what he was doing all throughout the process.

I found Housworth on Angie's list and asked for an estimate to build a wood front porch portico due to the number of great ratings. Even though Housworth's estimate was pretty much equal to the other estimates for the build, I hired Housworth because they really listened to my request on the design of the porch and their work estimate made that very clear. The porch was built in 2 days and the craftsmanship is excellent. There was no cover over the front porch on this 48 year old Williamsburg house and the addition of the portico added so much style that I see cars stop to look and hear neighbors walking remark on the beauty. I was so pleased with Housworth's work ethic and craftsmanship that I hired them to paint the house and shutters, add window toppers to make the windows look longer and add style and install shutter dogs on all the shutters. I worked with Luis Anderson as my Home Improvement Specialist and he was nothing but a joy. It is obvious the crew respects and likes working with him and that is certainly good for me. I had a crew from another company working to renovate the garage as the sheetrock had pealed of the walls and fallen off the ceiling. Housworth's work was so superior to the other company that I let them go and hired Housworth to finish the job. I wanted to hire them to put a garage door in but that estimate was just too high. Excellent work and great crew to work with! I am renovating this 48 year old house from to to bottom as it never had any previous renovations. I will get an estimate from Housworth on any additional work I need done.
Description of Work: Build a portico over my front porch, painted house and shutters, installed window toppers above six windows added shutter dogs to 22 shutters, installed wood bead board ceiling in garage and painted ceiling and all wood trim in garage. Also repaired leaking sink in kitchen.

Came out and gave a quote for a wall repair in our basement. While we did not get to use them yet, he did a great job giving input on what we should do and spent a lot of time informing us about the process. Will use them as soon as we can.
Description of Work: Provided a quote to repair a basement wall.
Very prompt service, did everything agreed to and we are extremely pleased with the work done. Very friendly and pleasant workmen. Will definitely use again when needed in future.
Description of Work: Repaired fascia and soffits, installed hidden hangers, cut branches touching roof, sealed corners on gutters, cleaned gutters and roof, fixed downspouts
The work was done over about a three week period. It went pretty smoothly. All the work looks great, and seems well done. The master carpenter, Lupe, did very nice work on the front porch, retaining wall/steps, and fence. There were a couple of minor spots where they had to come back and touch up the trim paint around a window, which they did promptly when I pointed it out. There was minor damage to some bushes around the house, which is understandable since the bushes were badly overgrown. They did a pretty good job of cleaning up after themselves and pressure-washed the concrete driveway.
Description of Work: Replace roof with "lifetime" shingles. Replace soffits with perforated hardi-board. Repair fascia where needed. Install new cricket around chimney. Replace chimney cap. Replace gutters. Install gutter shields. Scrape and paint cedar siding. Repair damaged siding and trim around door. Build new roof for front porch. Replace front porch decking. Stain front porch and two back decks. Replace a section of wood fence. Build a new gate for the new fence. Replace railroad tie retaining wall and steps up from driveway.
Three sides of this lower room's walls are finished with previously existing and newly installed outdoor brick. The fourth wall is done in standard painted sheetrock. Similar to the upstairs, this wall contains matching arched radius windows and doors. The ceiling is composed of faux tin panels, darkly stained wooden beams and a series of stained glass ceiling lamps. The room is finished with a dark black and rust set of ceramic slate tiles fashioned in a checkerboard pattern. The overall look is definitely turn of the century (20th Century) Mid-Western. In short, this was not an easy project. In fact, Housworth Construction had to pick up where an initial (unnamed) builder left off after claiming bankruptcy, having made very little visible progress and leaving us in a lurch. They were able to pick up the pieces and finish the project in spite of previously unanticipated and undiscovered obstacles ( like the need to introduce lower level post and beam construction to strengthen the ledger board foundation, ensure stability and meet inspection codes or the task of repouring a lower level floor and footer complicated by the presence of unexpected but very much large and snarling tree roots). In addition, during the course of this renovation, we were able to also address some pre-existing and nagging problems of broken brick and rotted wood on the house's exterior. Fixing these was as important to me as the new construction itself. The Housworth construction team consisted of a mixture of in-house and outside subcontractors including a demolition crew, foundation men, masons, carpenters, roof and gutter installers, window and door installers, an HVAC team, electricians, painters, tilemen, and clean up crew. The end product they delivered was exceptional. During the four months of almost daily construction I can honestly say that Richard Anderson was not only present constantly but also very open and responsive to our needs. He explained things clearly and always offered options with clear cost implications. With his high tech approach to planning, building and monitoring the project, we always knew where we stood. He took several thousand pictures and multiple videos during our construction and was also able to show us multiple examples of Housworth's previous and current projects via his library of personal constructions pics. I had used this company previously for roof replacement and replacement gutter installation, though not for actual renovation or remodeling. Having now completed this large project, I fully intend to use them again for future projects. James F Nowakowski, MD
Description of Work: Richard Anderson, Gabriel Rivera and Housworth Construction completed the demolition of an existing two story outdoor deck and open underspace which were then replaced with a two story indoor attachment to the back of our house. The upstairs room has become our 'Florida Room,' allowing us the use of a heated and air conditioned room with a view which was previoulsly impossible for all but a few brief weeks due to the extremes of Georgia weather. This room has an exterior metal roof and gutter system, a wooden beamed and stained tongue and groove ceiling complete with two ceiling fans, four arched radius-type windows, an arched door leading outside to a small landing deck (which now houses our outdoor grille) and a new staircase to the backyard below. This upper room comes complete with a swivel mounted flat screen TV and was finished with a hardwood floor which matches exactly that in the previously existing main floor kitchen and warming room areas. The Florida Room elegantly connects to that existing breakfast area by means of twin French doors which have replaced a similar sized set of old windows. The underdeck has become an enclosed, similarly heated and cooled (Mitsubishi split systems) extension of our terrace level basement. This space has become a 'pub room' complete with wine cellar (conveniently tucked under the newly built outdoor staircase and upper landing) and small enclalve room for a blackjack table. The main space of this lower room has become a vintage barroom setting with space for two pub tables and six chairs. It has incorporated a wall mounted flat screen TV on the far brick wall for viewing of all sporting events. Our builder was instrumental in assisting our satellite provider (Direct TV) with a system of coaxial cables running in the ceiling and walls to make this possible. in fact, it was no easy task due to the buried nature of the previously existing system.

We purchased and assembled new kitchen cabinets from cabinetgiant.com. We chickened out on installing them ourselves and decided to hire a professional. Hiring Housworth was a big mistake. The salesman who took our money (Richard) never visited the home again once he got the signed contract. The workers showed up having no idea what to do. I had to supervise their work myself and try to communicate with them in broken Russian. They made many mistakes, and left the job incomplete. The even drilled a hole in the wrong place for a cabinet knob, put some putty in the hole, and called it fixed. These are new cabinets in a home we are getting ready for sale. They accidentally installed the cabinets too low for the refrigerator to open, so they jacked up one side of the connected wall of cabinets a few inches, twisting my carefully assembled rectangular cabinets into rhomboids., rescrewed it to the wall, and then jacked up the other side. Hard to imagine that being good for the cabinet structure. The actual cabinet installer brought his untrained teenage son for some on the job training at my expense. I was paying $900 for professional help, not to sacrifice my cabinets and my kitchen as a teaching project. He's the guy who drilled the hole in the wrong place. They did not install the base molding around the bottom edge of the cabinets. The installer said that "wasn't his job" and left. I was glad to see him gone. I'm trying to figure out how to do that part myself with a compound miter saw. Overall, I wish I had not hired them. It would have taken less time and effort to have just done the job myself. The salesman, Richard, mentioned that he takes 1/3 of the job cost as profit. So, the installers got $600 and he got $300. I see no value in what I paid either of them. We used Emerson Home Services over in Marietta for a different part of the project, and we were very impressed with their professionalism. They installed a new window in the exterior of our basement, repaired rotted siding and soffits, and installed a new exterior door for $1600. We wish we'd found them before we found Housworth and hired them to install the kitchen cabinets. I will be calling Emerson for any future projects. Avoid Housworth. No supervision of the project at all, very unprofessional, and low value for money.

We are very sorry for any inconvience we may have caused you. After reviewing your file it looks as if we provided you with estimates on a lot of work for your home such as building a portico. When our technician goes out we offer a discounts on each line item so we are not out of line with our prices. So when we estimated over 20 items at your house we gave you a volume discount with us assuming you would want all work to be completed. When you called and only wanted 1 thing done then the price does go up since you took the volume of the work out. We apologize if this wasn't explained to you at the time of the estimate.

We were impressed with the initial quoting process with Richard but it all went downhill quickly. The communication between Richard and the project manager was horrid. The crew had very few of the details we discussed with Richard. They installed the wrong siding which we had to request for them to replace with the correct siding after we sourced it for them. Because below-average work was being performed, we checked the work at the end of each day so we could give the crew the details, they obviously didn't have, to ensure there were no issues before they left. If you use Housworth, don't assume the crew knows your expectations and prepare to be a supervisor if you want the job done properly. Richard insisted that we pay before the entire job was complete and became argumentative and unprofessional when he was told we would pay after we inspected the work, which we did. Since then, we've spent hundreds of dollars replacing destroyed landscaping and the gutters still leak.

This is the third time I have used Housworth for various services. Previously I used them for large jobs - roofing house and painting entire home. This time, I used them to do a few small projects and they did an equally good job with the painting. Erin is excellent! I will share there were a few issues with this project involving timing and minor glitches; however, Housworth followed through on my concerns with timeliness and professionalism. Foreman Lewis was very responsive. I will not be critical when they followed through and resolved the issues with great care and sincerity. In fact, I am just as impressed with a company when you see how they handle these type situations. In this case, I still give Housworth an "A" rating . I definitely recommend them for your projects. I too will continue to use them as I have additional needs.

Their professionalism was fine. I had no real problems with them. They were pretty good at communicating and getting back to me whenever I needed something more from them. I didn't really have any problems with the quality.
Description of Work: Housworth did some pre-filling repair and clean up for me. They did some interior and exterior painting and some drywall repair, as well as exterior siding repair.
