2018 Super Service Award Winner in Roofing, Painting Exterior, Gutters, Drywall, Decks/Porches and Carpentry Unfinished! There are many construction companies out there that will only help you solve half or less of your project needs, meaning you need to use more than one company to get what you want done. One company will install a roof system, but won't do the soffit work, or one will install Hardiplank siding but won't paint it. At Housworth, we are one company with expertise in many areas of construction. We won't leave any project half done. Housworth was established in 1929 by Gladis Housworth. It was known as the Housworth Plumbing Company up until the time it was taken over by Jack Patrick. It then became Housworth Construction. It is now managed by Laila Patrick the current CEO. We have been under Laila Patrick's leadership for the past 12yrs. Locally owned & operated. Additional contact name - 2018 Super Service Award Winner in Roofing, Painting Exterior, Gutters,& Drywall.
It was a great experience. The guys were very professional. John came in and gave the estimate in about 30 min.
Description of Work: John came out and looked at the roof. He found a large hole the size of a softball. He walked around and gave us an estimate. He said when you make up your mind give me a call and I will come out and do the job. He sent a group of guys out and he repaired the roof in a day and half.

A lot of our neighbors had their roofs repaired because of hail damage. Our roof was in good shape, but I wanted to get a second opinion. I called them, and we set a time for us to meet. He came over on a Saturday morning. He was right on time and very professional. He went up on the roof just to see if there was hail damage. He said that our roof was in really good shape. He explained everything to my wife and me. The technology of roofing they used was incredible. If they were actually quoting a roof, per se, they could do it all by computer. They can actually take a picture of your house from a satellite and do all the measurements for you. They were very up-to-date on technology. They were fantastic. We had a real bad rain last night, and there is a section of our roof that is leaking. I am actually planning to give them a call today to come out and do a quick repair in that one little area.
Description of Work: I got Housworth Roofing & Construction to come out and give me an evaluation of our roof.

After a torrential rain, we noticed damage to a wall in the garage and to one of the ceilings in the house. Also a place in the attic was wet. We called Housworth and set up an appt. At exactly the time appointed, Rob Clayborn and his team arrived. They inspected the damaged areas and said they would need to return the next day with more materials. They returned at exactly the time they said, and they began to repair the roof. Rob explained that one of the places was especially troublesome, and they needed to repair wood and flashing where two roofs meet. He also recommended changing the gutter configuration so that rain would not pour down into this "gully" where the roofs meet. The new gutter was installed and configured to drain in another direction. Another place on the roof where a vent pipe is located was also repaired. The following week we had another storm. The place in the attic was wet again, so we called Housworth again. Rob and his team came out and repaired the way the main chimney was capped. The company called us the following week to check to see if all issues had been addressed to our satisfaction. This was the THIRD TIME in four years that people have tried to repair this roof. We feel confident that this time the roof is completely repaired. Rob Clayborn and Housworth have been by far the most impressive professionals we have worked with on these problems, and we think this time the work is actually done correctly.
Description of Work: Roof was inspected for leaks. Three points were identified. Roof was repaired, gutter in front of house was replaced and repositioned.

Response from Housworth Roofing & Construction Inc
Attn: Angie’s List Customers First and foremost we respect and care for all our customers. We have investigated this matter thoroughly, our investigation revealed the following. We installed a new roof system for the member on June 19th 2009. Upon completion we informed the member of the neglected conditions that existed on his chimneys. These conditions were deteriorating siding on his left chimney and cracking stucco on his right chimney. We explained that a siding professional was needed to replace the siding on the left chimney and that a stucco specialist was needed to replace the cracked stucco and flashing on the right chimney. We told him that there could be future leaks if he went on neglecting these items. The member expressed he was aware of the matter and that he would take care of it. The member took matters into his own hands and attempted to make the repairs himself. This action resulted in leaks to his home. The member wanted us to fix problems that were not covered by his warranty.

Houseworth Roofing installed a single piece flushing on both cricket structures adjoining both chimneys at opposite ends of my house, as oppose to a proper "step flushing". This resulted in significant roof leaks last winter. They came out in February and told me that it is my chimney that is leaking not their flushing. I put bigh amoutn of tar around the roof joint with chimney and leaks stopped. However shortly after my wife complained about the meldew smell in our bedroom. I found siginficant leak on the floor under the carpet, coming from the above at second chimney joint with the wall. Another contractor, who came to investigate it found that 1) single piece of metal flushing was used instead of "step flushing" on that cricket, and 2) there was a hammer hole right in the middle of the ridge of that metal, channeling more water into it, right inside my ceiling. I made numerous calls to Houseworth roofing and construction company. I was told that Richard, the owner-saleman is always busy with other customers, never came back to fix the flusing. Hail had damaged our 20 yr old roof and we were also starting to have some leaking issues. The first company that came out (one who had sent repeated letters) met with our insurance adjuster (who denied the claim and said we did not have enough damage for insurance replacement). Many of our neighbors had received insurance help in replacing their damaged roofs. We decided to wait for a couple of months and during that time, we did a thorough search concerning roofers, materials, application methods and such and ended up getting 7 bids. After meeting with all the companies and their representatives, we decided to go with Richard and Housworth. We felt like he was the most upfront and honest person we talked to and provided us with an excellent computer based program that went into full details of the roof replacement they would provide. He also was the ONLY person in all the bids who was able to answer all our questions and give use the correct answers (remember we had done alot of research so we knew about the roofing process ahead of time). Although they commonly use Owens Corning, we had wanted a GAF/ELK roof system and they were happy to provide us with that. They were a preferred contractor so we were able to get the warranty we wanted using the Roof System Solution that GAF/ELK recommends. Oh and by the way, we decided to call our insurance company out again for a recheck and Richard went on the roof with them showed them all the areas of damage and climbed down and let them measure and evaluate the roof. He was not pushy or confrontational and in the end insurance paid for the majority of our roof replacement which meant a great deal to us. The actual job: When the material arrived, some of it was incorrect and they immediately sent someone out to the warehouse to get the right materials. The whole process ran like clock work. The project started when they said it would, they arrived on time and worked very hard. Their supervisor Javier checked with us frequently to make sure we were happy and to keep us informed about what was happening next. We had nice weather the whole time and the project was finished in only a couple of days. They thoroughly combed the yard for nails and cleaned up their mess. The only thing that happened which was not forseen was a torn window screen which they have promised to fix. We couldn't have been more happy with their work and our new roof looks excellent and we know it was installed according to the standards necessary for the GAF/ELK warranty to be honored if there is ever any problem in the future. We have done many renovations to our home over the past couple of years and Housworth has been one of the best companies we have worked with. You can't go wrong with this company- their service is excellent and their employees are exceptional!!!

Housworth was excellent. John came out for an estimate and I could tell he really knew what he was talking about. Once i signed the agreement, a team of 4 guys was out working on my house within a few days (it was early spring, so i'm sure they weren't as busy as summer). They were unbelievable. I leave for work very early, so I don't know when they started, but they worked until dark everyday for 4 days. The repairs were flawless and the paint job was amazing. They exceeded my expectations.

Housworth put a new GAF/ELK roof on our house last year which are EXTREMELY pleased about. At that time, they gave us a fair and reasonable estimate for new gutters. We are hoping to replace the gutters soon but have to do them in conjunction with the addition of a new screened deck which will change our roof line. At the present time though, we have 2 dormer windows that have gutters on them that drain directly on our roof. These gutters are old and the drainage is starting to cause discoloration on our beautiful new shingles. We had planned on completely removing these when the entire gutter project gets underway. We are not quite ready to start the screened deck project yet but the discoloration on our roof from these 2 gutters was really worrying us. We called Housworth to see if they could come out and take a look and see if they could be removed now. Housworth didn't hesitate to jump right on our request and within days came out and took care of it for us. Not only did they take care of the problem immediately, they did not charge us for this service. Do not hesitate to call this company for your needs! They are one of the most professional companies we have dealt with and they are an honest group of people who have proven to be dependable and do excellent work. We can't recommend them enough!!!

Follow up work done report: Our Chimney is about 50 feet tall and the builder did not use housewrap or other methods to prevent water from leaking in the siding when caulk deteriorates over time. We have been hiring companies for years to come help with this but all just do band-aids and never knew how to fix the problem completely. Houseworth knew what to do immediately and actually have an expert on staff in these specific types of repairs. He was there the entire day supervising the job and the crew that came was also the "expert" crew for this type of job. They removed the existing siding, completely wrapped the chimney with a moisture barrier, inspected for other problems, wood rot, etc. (didn't find any that required additional work...although they knew that I would have been willing to pay for whatever needed to be done...speaks volumes about their honesty and integrity) checked all of the flashing and the chimney cap...again, didn't find anything wrong...and then resided caulked and painted with hardi products that won't expand and contract with the moisture and Georgia climate. These guys are a class act and do excellent work...don't cut corners and stand behind their work. They WILL be the company that I call in the future for repair or hopefully more "fun" projects like remodeling, etc. It just makes me sick that I spent 9 years with this problem hiring various contractors who charged $500+ each time to simply put a band-aid on the problem. They aren't the cheapest but they are the BEST that I've worked with so far...I'm a fan and would recommend them to anyone!
Description of Work: Housworth Roofing & Construction Inc gave us an estimate for some chimney and siding work. They will be starting the job soon. We have been very impressed so far. Other companies have not been willing to do the job because they think it is too small of a job. They are very friendly, willing to do any job no matter the size and gave us a good price. They were quick about getting us our estimate. The lady was not in when we called to get our estimate and they called us back the very next day. They are coming out next Tuesday to get the job started. It has been a very, very good experience so far.

We had a leak into our master bedroom from our chimney during a heavy storm. Initially, we had Housworth come out and put a tarp over the chimney to prevent further leaks while we tried to figured out if this was something insurance needed to be involved in or not (we had just moved in to the house and were not sure if the leak was part of a larger structural issue). While the crew was up there, they noticed that a vent-pipe was not sealed correctly and sealed it for us – without a charge! Richard Anderson came out to take a look and (after climbing up on the roof in 20 degree weather with strong winds) determined that the cause was most likely a crack in the mortar. He took detailed photographs and showed me exactly where he though the problem was. I agreed that when they went up there to fix the chimney, they should also go ahead and fix anything else that they see and give the whole roof a ‘once-over’. When the work was done, I noticed that they also went out of their way to seal several cracks in the brick walls by our garage! It has been a month now and we have had many heavy storms but not a drop of water in our bedroom. Housworth went above and beyond and we will defiantly use them again.
Description of Work: Cracks in the chimney mortar were repaired, the entire roof was inspected, all vents and flashing was re-sealed as needed.

They didn’t follow up and wouldn’t return my phone calls. I didn’t actually use them, but I thought they were unprofessional. They came out and took a look at what had to be done. My experience with them wasn’t good. They felt like the job had not been explained to them and that it was not what was told to them. They cancelled the job. They also had a clicker and some keys to get access to property. I could never get those back and I didn’t like that. I spoke to the president of the company and the person who came out. I called the secretary two or three times and she said she’d forwarded my request to the concerned people.

Response from Housworth Roofing & Construction Inc
The member did not contact Housworth Construction; it was an assigned property manager that contacted us. The property manager explained that he only wanted us to provide labor for the installation of 1000 window sashes. He explained that he would provide all the material. He told us to start within 7 days of signing the contract. We were postponed several times by the property manager. Finally he explained that he needed us to help him get the material to his property. He explained that he contracted with another company and they still had the material for the job. We found this very odd, however to our regret we agreed to help him. We were then told that once we got the material we could start the installation. What happened instead was a disaster. They had to delay the project because they needed permission from the residents. We told the property manager that this was a total breach of contract. We explained that there would be an additional charge for the constant change in schedule. As a company we cannot devote our installer’s time for free. The property manager promised that he would resolve this problem and that we could start the following week. We showed up with our installers and once again we were told that there was another delay. We explained to the member that his property manager did not keep his promises. He apologized and explained that he needed have a meeting with us to resolve the many problems. The meeting was canceled because of a death. The member called us and asked for another meeting we said yes but never heard from him. Our installers explained they left the keys and clicker with the supervisor the last time we were told the job was postponed.

After researching companies on Angies' List, I called to make an appointment for a estimate with Housworth. They called to confirm my appointment the day before. John Keegan came to give me an estimate, which was 1 of 4 estimates that I received. All estimates recommended different options. At the end of my estimate appointment, John indicated that I could call him with any questions that I might have. After receiving all estimates, I called John to inquire as to why he suggested I go with ridgevents vs. other options that I had been recommended. He explained to me why he recommended what my house needed. I decided to go with Housworth because I felt that John was being honest with me, along with the fact that Housworth has been around a long time and the positive reports on Angies List. Housworth set up a time for replacing my roof. The project manager/supervisor Rob called me the day before my appt. to confirm and to tell me what to expect. The crew that came was very polite, courteous and hard working. Rob called me to update me of the progress along the way, as I was working and not at home. My mother, who lives out of town, was in town and served as my project manager. She was very complimentary of the crew (and believe me...she is pretty picky). The job took longer than anticipated (originally, they indicated that it would take one day) and it was finished the next morning. I contacted Rob to let him know that the crew had forgotten to move my grill and heavy wrought iron furniture back on my deck. Rob apologized and sent the crew out that day to take care of it. The waste container was moved out the same day that they finished the job. I called Rob to let him know how happy I was the work product and the crew that worked at my house. I relayed the only thing that I was not happy about was the huge rut in my yard to the side of the driveway. I am sure that the weight of the container contributed to this. He apologized and said that he would fill the hole with sand for me. This went above and beyond my expectations, as he could have just said "I'm sorry that happened." I failed to mention above that I called Rob while the work was being done on the house to ask him to see if he saw a hole in the facia board due to squirrels. I told him that I had a huge squirrel problem last year and I wanted to make sure that they had no easy entry way. He confirmed that he could fix it with something that he had on site but it would not look "professional." I told him to just do it anyway, as I would rather have it fixed and would deal with pretty later! Overall, I was VERY happy with this experience and I have already recommended this company to friends.

FANTASTIC! Richard Patrick came out to give me and estimate one day after I called. The other companies I called needed 3 weeks. He and his staff came exactly when they said they would each day. He spent an hour looking in my attic and on my roof, and found nail holes throughout, which I am very grateful for--my roof is too steep for me to access. He identified my largest problem as siding on my chimneys settling away from the framing. Another estimator told me caulk and a new metal cap could fix the problem. I went with Housworth because of Richard's professional presentation--the project was more expensive than I hoped, but he convinced me that it was necessary. I'm glad he did. He took a hundred pictures to show me each problem, and emailed them to me from his truck, as well as a concise and TYPEWRITTEN proposal, as opposed to a scrawled prescription. Once I faxed the same proposal back, his staff confirmed my start date the same day. The foreman, Rob, called the night before to confirm. He monitored the process thoroughly as the roofers, carpenters, and painters (9 of them) worked over 4 days on the roof. All the workers were polite and professional. Richard called twice to check on me. The crew worked continuously each day--I didn't think there was that much too do! And I think their workmanship was terrific. When (Jeune the carpenter's) ladder gouged my deck, he kindly replaced the planks and repainted them for me. They clearly wanted me to be satisfied, and I am. They back their work with a standard one-year guarantee. My only complaint is that the carpenters weren't scheduled to complete their work before the roofers began--If I had realized that, I probably would have asked that they changed the schedule. But, they filled their holes with NP-1, and I have no reason to think that any damage was done. I would DEFINITELY recommend Housworth, and when it's time to replace my roof, I use 'em!!

I called Housworth the week of Oct 12th to have someone come out and give me a quote to repair a leek in my roof. They gave me an appiontment on Oct 16th from 11am-1pm. By 2pm no one had showed up from Housworth. Then a gentleman from Housworth called saying he was running late and would be at my house that afternoon, he did appliogize and was very pleasant on the phone. By 6pm no one had shown up. I had taken the day off work as well. I called Housworh that evening and left a message about how disappointed I was that no one showed up. Monday morning Housworth called saying they were so sorry and would have someone out on Tuesday the 20th. On Tuesday someone did come out and look at our roof. He told us that he would email a quote by the end of of the day on Tuesday or at the very latest Wednesday. Wednesday came and went and still no quote. After we contacted them two additonnal times over the next two weeks we still didn't have a quote. I must say that everone at Housworth was very nice and friendly on the phone but unfortunatly that didn't get my roof fixed!

We know this individual. She misspelled her email address and forgot to give us a phone number. This of course made it hard to get in touch with her. We sent her estimate to the wrong address several times. To date we still don’t have the correct e-mail. It is now January 7, 2010; this individual is now writing a review giving us all F’s. Please review the following words she misspelled above and you will clearly see why we are having this problem. 1. Leak not Leek 2. Appointment not Appiontment 3. Apologize not Appliogize 4. Additional not Additonnal 5. Everyone not Everone 6. Unfortunately not Unfortunatly We think that proper spelling would have prevented this all together!!

We discovered the leak in our attic when retreiving Christmas decorations. I contacted a number of roofers from the list wit Housworth being the only one able to provide an estimate before the holidays. They arrived as scheduled on 12/5 to provide an estimate and the work was completed within 10 days (12/14) as promised. The weather was terrible throughout the ten day window but they managed to get the work completed on 12/14 despite rain threatening all day.

First, I should say that everyone from Housworth has been very polite. They are good people, but they have some internal issues that make dealing with them kind of a hassle. The weirdest thing is I can't seem to get them to send me an INVOICE so I can pay them. Now that's weird! I was told it would be in my email inbox, but no email ever came (not even to my SPAM folder!). The job looks pretty good, not great, and I found it strange that Housworth doesn't walk the customer through the finished product at the end of the job. I really think they need to do that as a matter of courtesy. It might also be a good time for them to hand over the invoice directly, and maybe even take payment on the spot. Just a suggestion. Given all these hiccups, I will probably try somebody else next time I need work done at the house.
Description of Work: I hired the company to fix a few soft spots near my chimney, and to remove and replace three skylights.

I hired Housworth to reroof my house, install new siding, gutters and paint the exterior of my house. When I made the deal with them the only thing that I asked was it to be done before the new year. They reassured me that it would be no problem. The project started on time and with all the bad weather I was getting concerned about a big container at my house for Christmas. Housworth worked weekends including Sundays to get my house back in order. Everyday the manger came by and checked the job and updated me with the progress. The roof was done in 1 day and everyone wsa very nice and polite. I was surprised when the painter started painting and he called me and told me he wanted me to see the color I selected because it was so diffrent than my original color and THANK GOD he did! I then selected another color and they repainted what they had already painted. This was a terrific company and pleasure to work with. I would hire them again anytime I ever need anything.

Their pricing was fair and were good people to work with. I assume that they did a good job but we won’t know until it rains.

They were very nice on the phone and set up an appt. for an estimate. The person they sent out was prompt and very professional. However, it was all a waste of my time, because they never sent the estimate. I called weeks later, and I was assured there were computer computer problems, and my esitmate would be emailed to me. They never sent one, and never followed up to see if I got the estimate. Again, a complete waste of my time.
They were very prompt. What I didn’t like was, when they did the repair on the interior wall, they did not do the finishing properly and it was a little rough. But other than that, they did an excellent job.
Description of Work: They replaced the chimney cap and put some additional flashing around the deck where the chimney structure is. They also repaired the dry wall and replaced some siding on the chimney that had been rotted from the water damage.

It was a wonderful experience. Everything was just as they said. It really worked for us. My insurance company made things go slower, but Housworth helped me out with all of my paperwork. They were very kind. They cleaned up behind themselves. I don't have any leaks in my roof since they have done the work. The price was reasonable.
