I called them but they didn't show up. They didn't come to give me any proposal. They even said they are going to call me or show up or he's going to call to reschedule if they come late these days. They agreed to come but at the date of the appointment, there was no call and no show. I did not get a price.

The siding repair was successful and looks very nice. The ceiling fan swap out went well (even though the mfg.'s parts were challenging). Gary hung in there to make it work properly. He fixed the leaky faucets and the old exhaust fans. He was nice enough to go to Home Depot and pick up the new ones for us. They weren't compatible with our equipment so Gary returned them. The weather stripping looks good. He put a new toilet in our water closet which works well. He did a really good job.

Excellence In Carpentry did not offer a deal, however I called them to repair wood rot at the base of the patio door. My decision to use them was based on the outstanding reviews ( all A's) and POH nominations and member of BBB listed on his website. I met with Mr. Talbot the owner of Excellence in Carpentry to schedule a date/time to make the repair. He repaired and painted the wood to my complete satisfaction. Needless to say, I wood use his company again if the need arises relative to carpentry. POH nomination!

Gary was a breath of fresh air after having other less professional contractors in our home. He was very prompt and courteous and even called to let me know that he was running a few minutes late. He is a very skilled carpenter as his company title suggests. Both doors turned out awesome and even better than I expected. I will most definitely be calling on him again in the future.

Gary did a fantastic job. He was professional in every stage of the project from estimating to scheduling to completion. The windows now look like new. He is a meticulous craftsman that I would gladly recommend to my friends.

Gary does great work and is apparently very busy, which he stated upfront. He came within the week to provide an estimate and scheduled the work for approximately a month later. Gary showed up on the date and time he stated. It was a day plus project. He started Monday morning and finished Tuesday morning. I have a solid oak, curved pier/bookcase type headboard that comes in three pieces; the center and the two nightstands that all combine to make the pier/wall unit. I bought the bed 14 years ago from Rhodes and I love it, but Rhodes has since closed down and the manufacturer does not make this bed anymore, but I wanted a king. So I hired Gary to extend the left the center piece so it would accommodate a king bed frame. We started out by buying $550 worth of materials, primarily pine and oak. Gary set up all his tools and saws in the driveway and went to work. He finished in one day, but had to come back the next day to seal the wood after it had been stained. It really looks great. Everyone that has seen it assumes that it was made a king. You can't tell that it didn't come from the factory like that. Gary understood the symmetrics required to maintain the curvature of the original headboard, which required lifting the centerpiece by building a frame under the headboard. I think Gary does great work. He does exactly what you want, not what he wants. I have a few minor cons: 1. The job ended up being about twice as much as was originally quoted. I'll take the primary blame for that. Gary was going to extend it by making the eight inch extension on each side hollow. I decided I wanted it solid, which is why the materials were so expensive. 2. I've noticed after completion (since I couldn't touch it while the stain and sealer were drying) that the surface of the extension pieces could use some additional sanding. They are pretty rough in spots, compared to the original pieces. 3. A base had to be added on each side of the headboard. Apparently his nail gun must have run out of nails while he was attaching the new base to the original piece; as when I went to reposition the headboard on the wall, the base did not move with the headboard. I contacted Gary by text the next day and informed him of the issue and asked him to please stop by and remedy the issue at his convenience. He agreed that he would. That was a month ago.

I have used Gary at Excellence in Carpentry for 15+ years for extensive exterior projects including painting and wood and window repairs, interior carpentry, painting, even installing a tile floor in a sunroom. Gary is a consummate professional, always a perfectionists in his finished projects. Buttoned up!!!

He's a very good and reliable man. I will recommend him for anybody.

I wanted one whole wall to be covered in custom shelving with pocket lighting and a center cut out for a desk built for me by my grandfather. Gary did it all just as I asked and it is perfect.

Everything went well. Gary was on time, worked steady (despite recent knee surgery), and was very pleasant to work with. We are very happy with the finished product - his skills are definitely top-notch. I am writing this review 11 months later as we are about to ask him to do a bigger, more important project for us. Highly recommended and no surprise to us that he won a 2013 Angie's List Service Award.

I called Gary directly to make an appointment and left a message; the voice-mail message stated that he would call me back the in the evening of the same day. I left a time when a callback would be convenient and he called me within that window of time as requested. I explained that I had wood rot on a piece of brick moulding and that I already had a piece of PVC moulding and paint to match the trim. All I needed was someone with the tools and skills to repair the problem. Gary gave me an estimate over the phone which was very reasonable compared to other estimates that I received by other providers. Gary worked with me to set a time to perform the work and said that he would call the night before to confirm, which he did exactly as planned. He showed up on time and got right to work. The whole job took a little over an hour and Gary was very friendly and professional. The finished job looked great. Afterward he even had a cookie to give my dog!

Arrived exactly as scheduled. Assessed the job needs. Left to purchase the materials. Began work promptly and continued until job was completed (about 2.5 hours). Friendly and courteous. Very professional work. Highly recommended.

Gary completed the entire project on time. He is very professional and punctual. The quality of his work exceeded my expectations. He started the work on time everyday. He worked from 7:30 am to 4:00pm Monday through Friday. Excellence in Carpentry is the best company I've ever used for home Improvement projects.

Our gazebo has a ladder to an area above the sitting area for our grandkids to crawl or walk around. However, when it rained water came through and we could not use the gazebo even during a light rain. Gary added plywood to the floor of of the upstairs play area in such a way that rain would run off and not puddle, added roofing material, and outdoor carpet. Now we don't have to run for the house during a light rain. This enhancement took most of the two days Gary was on this job. The other job that required ingenuity was securing a brick wall that was bulging due to tree roots from a tree in our neighbor's yard. He devised a way to shore up the brick wall which should prevent it from ever falling. As usual, Gary showed up around 7 a.m., went over our list of things to do, and made a trip to the store for supplies. He works nonstop, never wasting a minute. He is completely trustworthy -- I don't hesitate to give him a key to my house or leave home while he is working. His bill is clear and he attaches all receipts for materials he purchased. He has been doing work for us for at least ten years, and his touches are in almost every room of our house as well as outside. I recommend him highly.
