CARPENTER & CO HANDYMAN SVC

We contacted CARPENTER & CO HANDYMAN SVC after finding them on Craig'sList. We made an appointment and Matt came out exactly when he said he would. He took down a fan with light fixture and replaced it with a custom light fixture we purchased at Ballards. Very well done, very clean work. Very fair price.

It went very badly. I first tried to contact the company through their web site but received no response, so I called them. Receptionist/office manager said that they had experienced some problems receiving requests over the internet but she thought problems were resolved. Once contacted i made an appointment for Matt, a owner of the company, to visit my house and give me an estimate for the work I wanted done. Appointment was set and Matt arrived on time and reviewed the requested work and said he would send me an estimate within a couple of days. Matt was very personable and seemed competent and professional. So far, so good. I waited about five days and still had not received an estimate so I called the office. The receptionist/office manager was very defensive and filled with excuses of why the estimate had not been delivered. After I asked if they were interested in my business, she assured me they were and promised an estimate to me by end of day or latest the next day. I said fine but that I needed to move ahead with the work as soon as possible. She assured me all would be OK so I finished the call expecting an estimate within a day or two. I have never heard from this company again. I have not called them because I got another company to do the work and I didn't want to go through another phone call with the receptionist/office manager filled with excuses and anger. Under no circumstances would I ever do business, or recommend that anyone do business, with this company.
