We initially called Reigndown because they had a very good coupon, $99 to repair and repaint or ceiling damaged by a leak. There were initial communications problem: first ours because of a death in the family, then there's, I think because of whoever was handling their email, but after we resolved those problem our experience was very good. Prompt arrival, and a very professional job of repairing the damaged plaster and priming and painting. After our initial problems, I was very pleased

I would not have them back for anything. The whole experience with them was disappointing. I had to send pictures to them of the room and the work I wanted done, and the guy finally came. It was supposed to be for three hours even though the room didn’t need three hours, and I wasn’t impressed. I thought I got what I paid for.

Carlos Jones came out to give me an estimate, and he was a very gracious, soft-spoken man. However, when he came back to do the actual work, he left an older gentleman (whose name escapes me) to do the actual work, as Carlos himself was "around the corner at another job". The older gentleman was very nice also, but he did a lousy job. Carlos came back when he was done, and agreed that the job looked horrible, and promised to fix it at my earliest convenience. The paint strokes were visible; the sheetrock replaced was much thinner and therefore a very obvious square on my ceiling. Carlos himself came out to fix it at the appointed time, but he didn't replace the wrong-thickness sheetrock. He promised me I would be satisfied once he put another layer of "skim" over it, and sanded it down again. It still looks horrible. It is a bit better, but still an eyesore that you immediately see when you walk into the room. Two of the smaller drywall holes that he filled in are absolutely invisible. The third of them still has visible "mudding" all around it (as if it hadn't been sanded, even though it had been). So even though I liked working with the people, they did a terrible job, and so I wouldn't hire them again.
Description of Work: I got the Big Deal for $99, which was up to 3 hours of drywall services, and I had 3 small holes in my wall (from electrical work) and one large, (18 inches square) hole in my kitchen/great room ceiling. The 3 smaller holes had the sheetrock cutouts that the electrician had saved for me. The larger opening had to be replaced completely. I also wanted them to paint the ceiling after it was fixed, and was quoted $300 for the painting part.

We weren’t pleased with the work at all. I had three areas of drywall repair that needed to be done, and two of those areas were done very poorly. We actually had to have someone else come in to repair the main area after they left.

He went about his work--removing wallpaper in the bathroom--in a professional manner and finished according to the three hour allotted time. He cleaned up and left no evidence of the paper he removed. The room is ready to be primed, sanded and painted. I would recommend and use his services again.

So far, the experience has been great. Carlos has been incredibly nice, is very knowledgeable, does what he says he will do, and stays in touch. My husband and I feel really comfortable dealing with him. We haven’t been able to finish the project yet, since we need to make sure that the leak is corrected outside, but everything has been good.

Not a good experience for a first time customer. I will not contact them again. Expected more from an Angie's List member.
Description of Work: I contacted this company for an estimate to repair and repaint a section of drywall in a small commercial office building. When I learned that it was their policy to charge a trip fee to quote on a job I told the scheduler that I could not get that approved and she spoke with Carlos who waived the fee. I was then told that he only provides estimates after business hours so I had to agree to an appointment at 5:30 PM which is usually when I leave for the day. After making plans to stay later yesterday, I received an email from the scheduler stating that Carlos could not make it. This email came in at 5:28 PM when the appointment was for 5:30. The appointment had been confirmed both verbally and via email earlier in the day so I was very disappointed.

1. Paint is everywhere! Our brand new granite countertops, sink basins, JACUZZI TUB! The hardwood floors, the cabinets, the tile......everything that should have been covered up, but wasn't, now has paint all over it. The Jacuzzi tub in the master bath is so full of paint splatter that we may end up having to replace it. 2. There are numerous areas where the walls clearly do not have two coats of paint, especially above windows and doors. We have much more paint leftover than we should, which supports the fact that some areas only have one coat. 3. The ceiling and wall edge in rooms without crown molding have a heavy and inconsistent line of wall paint on the ceiling which looks sloppy and unprofessional. The only way to repair this is to repaint the entire ceiling with clean crisp lines, which was not something we had budgeted for or intended to do. 4. Baseboard edges: where they decided to paint the baseboard, there is a heavy and inconsistent line of trim paint on the wall. In some ares this measures upwards of 1/4 inch, which is not an acceptable tolerance. 5. We thought we were doing them a favor and took the time to remove all of the switch plates and outlet covers from the walls, but they still managed to get paint on ALL the outlets and switches. Two of the light switches will have to be replaced because they no longer operate smoothly due to the amount of paint inside the mechanism! 6. Exterior siding: our utility sink was not working, so they had rinsed brushes using the outside spigot. This shouldn't have been a big deal except they got big globs of paint all over the side of the house. There is no way to safely remove the paint without having to repaint the side of the house. 7. In two rooms, there are spots where the wall paint had ended up on the ceiling. In their attempt to fix it, they removed the brown wall paint but also the ceiling paint, leaving behind a grey patch. Similar to the other rooms, the only way to properly repair this is to repaint the entire ceiling. 8. Because they were lazy and did not want to tape or properly paint the crown molding, they painted the underside of the crown with the wall paint color! We now have crown molding that is white on top and brown on the bottom! 9. Carlos completely underestimated the time it would take to complete the job. A professional who does this for a living should know with relative accuracy how long it takes to complete a job. Carlos told us it would take 2 days to complete our downstairs, yet it took them 7 days! This became a problem when we had other contractors coming into the house that now had to work around the painters, who were supposed to have been out of the house days ago. These are just the bigger issues, but there are plenty more. We recently had 4 professional painting companies come out to give us an estimate to fix the sloppy and unprofessional work done by Reign Down (i.e., paint the walls/ceilings/trim) and we've gotten estimates starting at $2500. Not only do we need to re-do the terrible job that was done on the walls and trim, we now have to paint the ceilings.
Description of Work: We hired Reign Down to paint the interior of our new home prior to us moving in. This included painting all walls and trim with 2 coats of paint. We provided the paint, but purchased it using the Reign Down account at Sherwin Williams. Unfortunately, their discount was no better than I could have gotten myself with the coupon from the Sunday paper. Carlos Jones was responsive to our initial request for a quote and provided what we thought to be a competitive estimate for the work. It wasn't the highest or the lowest, but based on other reviews we had read on Angies List, we felt comfortable that Carlos and his men would do a high quality job that we would be proud of. Well, that was a BIG MISTAKE on our part. Since we were not living in the house and were not able to monitor the quality of work as it was being completed, we were taken advantage of by Reign Down Painting. The two main problems we had with Reign Down were: 1.) They outright lied about what they had completed. We had contracted with Reign Down to paint all of the trim in our house with 2 coats of white paint. Our house is a 2 story home with 6 inch baseboard, crown molding, tray and coffered ceilings throughout, paneling and 2 fireplace mantels. Based on the linear feet of all the trim, we should have used a minimum of 10-11 gallons of trim paint. We purchased 6 gallons to start, assuming that Carlos would have us purchase more as he moved through the house. Not only did he not ask us to purchase more, he only used 2.5 gallons at best.......yet claimed to have painted ALL trim with 2 coats of paint. It's mathematically impossible to have done that with 2.5 gallons of paint. 2.) The quality of work is abysmal. We hired professional painters so that there wouldn't be paint in places that it shouldn't be, so that the lines would be clean, and the overall quality would be much higher than we could do ourselves. Unfortunately, the work is so bad that I'm quite certain we could have done a MUCH better job ourselves. I've listed out some of the specific issues below.

The response from Carlos, when we e-mailed to ask about possible dates was prompt, he even sent me his discount number so I could save on paint. I took advantage of an Angies List deal to paint the walls in two rooms and paid extra to have them paint the ceilings as well (only $50 per room for the ceilings). From start to finish, I had an excellent experience. Carlos (the owner) personally answered my phone calls and was very understanding when I had to reschedule twice. The quality of the painting is excellent -- far superior to the previous (original) paint. I'm very happy and would certainly use them again.

When the person who was to clean arrived, she brought no cleaning supplies with her, and used mine, which was ok, but not what I expected from a cleaning service. She was also extremely allergic to my cats (2), and ended up leaving before the work was done, just because I felt so bad for her. Granted, I should have perhaps mentioned my pets, but certainly did not expect it to deter the service experience.
Description of Work: Purchased the Big Deal for 2 hours of cleaning and scheduled the appointment within two weeks of purchase. I had no problems contacting the vendor or making the arrangements, and informed the vendor that it was a 2 bedroom condo.

The experience was awful as a whole. It took 11 days to paint two rooms. When he came out to give us an estimate on the extra work we wanted done, I told him I had chosen glaze. He told me they could prime, paint and glaze two rooms in one day. I sent him an email saying I don't want them to rush through my job because painting with glaze wouldn'tThe owner tried to put off finishing beyond Monday because he had a "busy week scheduled" but on SAturday, Feb 11th, I insisted that he come back on Monday Feb 13th. I even suggested how he might manage the expectations of his Monday client so he could finish our bedroom before moving on to the next project, and he had the nerve to tell me I'm trying to tell him how to run his business :| I had several exchanges that indicate that this guy has a lot to learn about running a business, managing client expectations, talking to clients, having the right tools for the job, etc; he needs help across the spectrum. He didn't even have an invoice that outlined the extra work he had done and the fees we agreed on - we relied on my handwritten list on a scrap sheet of paper when it was time to write the check.. I don't want to go into details; it's too aggravating.
Description of Work: Company painted base coat and glaze to two rooms - bedroom and kitchen. Bedroom walls are so problematic we need to repaint all except one wall. The kitchen looks fine only because the base and glaze were both light colors and so similar in tone that the defects in paint job are not obvious, like in the bedroom. The work started on Feb 2nd and was "completed" on Feb 13th. On February 2nd, Painter #1, Ramon, applied base coat to kitchen and bedroom walls. On February 3rd, he returned to apply glaze to entire bedroom but only one wall looked presentable. He called the owner, Carlos Jones, to update him on the project. Carlos then called me to say that Ramon was having problems making the wall look presentable (my words, not his) and that he would come out Saturday morning, Feb 4th, to inspect the work, and would likely be the one to finish the job because he does faux work and his experience with faux and glaze would be better suited to finish the job. On Saturday, he inspected the bedroom and confirmed what he told me over the phone, told me he'd be back to finish the job. His return was pushed back from Wednesday, Feb 8th, to Friday, Feb 10th, but between 10am and 5pm on Friday, he was not able to finish. He returned on Monday and spent about 3-4 hours repainting the bedroom with base coat and more glaze. After assessing how long it took and the finished result, it appeared that he had reached his level of competencty and would not be able to do a satisfactory job, so I paid him and resigned myself to the fact that my husband and I would end up repainting the room ourselves.

Response from Reign Down Cleaning & Painting Services
In response to the client complaint. We feel we did and honored the coupon (Big Deal) as agreed. We feel we went above and beyond to satisfy this client coming back out to redo the walls to achieve a certain look the client wanted. The client wanted faux glaze painted over a painted wall we did. Now the faux glaze is not even part of the $99 one room paint special. But we still honored this for this client to please her. When applying faux glaze you have to premix the glaze with whatever paint you choose as your top coat. There are many different ways you can apply this faux glaze to achieve a certain outcome. In this situation the client premixed her glaze product, not knowing what outcome she had in mind we ask how did she want it applied and she said roll it on. That's what we did! After looking at the first application I choose to come back and redo the walls for her to try and achieve the look she wanted. We came back the second the time applied the glaze this time we ran out of the glaze product. She mixed another batch of glaze product which we then applied. Her complaint was with the inconsistencies of the shades. I believe the second batch of glaze she mixed wasn't the same consistency as the first which caused this inconsistency. I don't feel the contractor in this situation should be responsible if we didn't mix the glaze to begin with. Based on this assumption I don't feel this client should receive a refund. We honored our part of the Big Deal offer by applying two coats of paint, well even more than that if you include the additional coats we did for the repaint.

I bought the "good deal" in August 2011. Apparently, due to overwhelming response to this deal, Carlos was very busy for several months. The company emailed the deal buyers for information regarding the jobs needing to be done. A few (mine included) were delayed in completion of the job. Once I contacted Carlos by phone, they realized some folks hadn't gotten the work done and they were very prompt in setting up an appointment to see the job. Carlos arrived promptly for that initial visit, and discussed the work to be done. We scheduled the work date via email. He called to confirm time of arrival for both work dates. Carlos did a very professional job, and explained what materials he used. He removed old flaking paint and underlying plaster, filled in with an elastic polymer material. After that dried, he put a skim coat of spackle. He needed to let that dry fully so he came back 2 days later. The repaired areas are wonderfully smooth and it will look great once I paint them. Carlos is a very professional worker. He is very careful to keep the area clean, using drop cloths all around the work space. I recommend this company for any wall repair job. He obviously cares a lot to do a quality job.
Description of Work: This job was part of a "good deal" offered through Angie's List in August 2011. I bought the deal as I needed some professional wall repair. Carlos repaired 3 areas of old gypsum board under several windows. He made 3 trips for this job.

I have been trying to get in contact him since I purchased the Big Deals last August, but have only gotten ahold of him one time. When I did reach him he was extremely rude to me and told me to just send pictures and measurements of the room. When I tried to email the information all of the email addresses I have for him come back as invalid. There has been nothing good about this whole process.

Everything went smoothly. See above.
Description of Work: We purchased 3 of the big deals but waited several months to contact Carlos about the work. By that time, things seemed to have settled down. We asked that he come out to look at possible projects and help us decide which would be the best value. He came a day or so later; we decided on a small bathroom (with wallpaper to be removed) and the laundry room. He could schedule the work about a week later. He recommended the type of paint to be used in the high-humidity bath, and we purchased the paints. He provided everything else. Came as scheduled, completed the work as scheduled, and it looks great! He works steadily, is meticulous and obviously takes pride in his work. Everything was cleaned up when he finished. He's very professional and pleasant, and we'll definitely use Reign Down for projects in the future. Got our money's worth and more!
