Earth Balance Organics Turf and Plant Care

(This review is submitted by my step-daughter.) We never ended up signing up for service from this company because of the absolutely unacceptable lack of responsiveness and communication from them. I called them initially 6-8 months prior to the last date of contact, and initially did receive a call back after about a month. Spoke with whom I believe was the owner, who apologized for the delay, citing a busy aeration season as the excuse for the delay. He seemed pretty knowledgeable and eager to work with us over the phone, saying he could come by and give an estimate in the next few days. I forgot to actually tell him our address, but he had my number. After several weeks of no estimate and no call back, I called again and left a message stating that I believe I'd failed to give my address and that we were still interested in an estimate. The owner did call me back after a briefer period and said he'd be out in the next day or two to give an estimate, but again, no show. We also didn't get any return call for several months, and I decided at this point that it wasn't worth pursuing the company further -- if they are this irresponsible in providing a mere one-time estimate, how could I rely on them to provide routine lawn care? Oddly, they somehow retained my info and did call again several months later saying they wanted to follow up on our expressed interest in an estimate, but at this point we weren't willing to reconsider.

I signed a year contract that included 7 visits per year at $38/ each plus aeration ($75) and overseeding ($95), that was to be performed in the fall. They quit without any warning after the first treatment. I called and emailed the company without any response at all. While I haven't paid for anything more than my first treatment, I have a yard full of crabgrass because I thought Earth Balance was going to handle it. Disappointed, if they wanted to quit or cancel the contract, I wish they would have communicated that.

I was so very excited to find this company as we were looking for a green alternative now that we have a baby that loves to be outside. Originally when I contacted the company by phone and email the response was excellent. I spoke with the owner who was extremely helpful and informative. The price quote was great and we decided to go with Earth Balance. I was told that they would be out within the next 2 weeks for our first treatment and he would call a few days before coming out to treat our lawn. We canceled our current lawn service and could not wait to get started. Well, it has been 3 weeks since I spoke to someone at Earth Balance. I have called everyday for the last 3 days and left messages and to date have not had one response. I am just saddened to see what started out as a wonderful experience with this company turn into such a sham. I just don't understand how one can provide such excellent service, then just stop, especially when it is for new customers. It is a small local business which I really looked forward to supporting but after the unprofessional service of unreturned phone calls, no calls for the lawn treatment promised within the time alloted I rate this company as an F....very sad.

It is difficult to tell the results at this point. I had many weeks in the back, some I'm sure destroyed by the organic solutions used by Earth Balance. Others wiped out by my mower.

They are absolutely outstanding. Their product is great. The owner is great to work with. The service was on time and was reasonably priced.
