Description of Work: I reached out to the company to provide an estimate to do finish work on a screened porch that had been framed by another contractor. Rod visited my home at the appointed time. After approximately 5 minutes on site, Rod determined the framing structure to be unsafe and significantly out of code. He immediately braced a hazardous wall to ensure my family's safety. Rod spent approximately 1.5 hours at my home identifying the myriad issues with my structure. He wasn't picking on technique or tiny flaws--these were significant code violations. He asked for no compensation. He was extremely professional and I am most appreciative of his taking the time to lend advice. If you're considering a contractor, don't hesitate, contact Southern Specialty.

Description of Work: Southern Specialty replaced my chimney chase, added new siding and roofing materials around my chimney to repair a leak. They also reinforced stud screws along my dining room ceiling wall. I was very pleased with their work and the cost of the repairs especially since I am a single mom. I've already referred a friend to this contractor.

Description of Work: Two guys arrived. And it wasn't clear in the contract during the purchase for THE DEAL that it only included one person at the costs of $56 per hour. They slowly put on a base coat of paint on my downstairs. A. I asked for an estimate for fixing the trim on my front door and for fixing some water damage to the frame of my back door. B. I also asked for an estimate from crown molding for my upstairs hall, and c. for repairing my side plumbing fixtures. I ended up being told and paid a few extra hundred dollars for their "overtime" since the big deal actually only paid for three hours not six hours of work. They never got back with me with the estimates inspite of me writing down my email for the quotes. Fortunately the contractor I hired to come in the following day not only fixed the sloppy base coat job they did but completed my entire upstairs in the same amount of time for the clearly contracted amount. Southern Specialty did a "gotcha" on this . . . but their lack of follow-up makes me certain to circulate their name in my neighborhood groups as a NO GO.
