Did you ever have that terrible realization that your roof leaks? I could actually hear mine leaking- it woke up my wife on a rainy Thursday night. I called Rod Holbrook of Southern Specialty Contractor LLC and that very afternoon (Friday), he came by and put a tarp on my roof where the leak was. After refusing any payment for the tarp, he offered a very reasonable estimate for a more permanent solution. I accepted his offer and he was able to come on the next business day (Monday) with his crew to do the work. Rod's crew was finishing up as I was coming home from work and he took me up on the roof to show what they had done. When we came back down his crew was just finishing cleaning up all the trash the construction project had generated- apparently on their own initiative. I would heartily recommend Rod for anyone looking for a conscientious contractor.

Job was done professionally and quickly with electrical safety foremost in mind. I Found Rod very easy going and excellent to work with. The quality of the work is like new. I highly recommend Southern Specialty for drywall and electical repair work.

First of all, Rod was generous with his advice, working to find smart, creative solutions to deliver this renovation within our budget. We actually divided the project into 4 phases over the course of 18 months so that we could pay over time and still get exactly what we wanted. Rod was always flexible and accommodating of our schedule. I was pleased to find a contractor who responds promptly, by phone or email, to my questions and requests, even sending progress photos to me during the day. We enjoyed working with Rod and trusted him completely in our home. His team was always punctual and respectful. The attic conversion is nicely integrated into the rest of our 1940s house. Rod's expertise with these kinds of renovations means that were were able to maximize every square inch for headroom and storage. We are excited about the additional living space and thrilled with the quality and consistency of the work. I continue to recommend Southern Specialty for home renovations because Rod's honesty, craftsmanship, and professionalism saved us both money and headaches.

There were some problems after siding was up. Rod came right away to check and had his crew back the next day. He came to check, found things he didn't like, had the crew back and told them no one was leaving until I was happy. He goes the extra mile to please his customers.

We were thrilled with the finished product-- Southern Specialty took us to from 1960s pink & turquoise tile into the 2000s. The owner, Rod Holbrook, was onsite for all the work. The project was completed on schedule & for the agreed upon price. In addition to meticulous work, they cleaned up behind themselves each day & kept the workspace tidy & safe for our children. We highly recommend Southern Specialty for home-improvement projects large or small.

We've used Southern Specialty 3-4 times in the past and called on them again when we were ready to build a storage shed in our backyard. As usual, Rod & his guys did a meticulous job-- quality work, on budget and finished the job in a shorter timeframe than expected.

My husband served as the general contractor on our new home that we built in 2006/2007. He did much of the work himself, but there were certain projects that he would only trust to Rod at Southern Specialty. We knew from past experience that Rod's work is meticulous and the best in our area, so we hired SS to build our custom deck & complete the more difficult custom woodwork on our front porch & throughout our home. As usual, Rod & Southern Specialty did not disappoint! The project was completed on schedule and at the agreed upon price.

When they arrived to begin the work, they were on time everyday and on budget.They performed there tasks quickly and professionally. They were always courteous, and whenever I had an issue, they addressed it right away. They cleaned up when they were done like they were never there and I couldn't have asked for better quality or service.

The owner of the company was on the job the entire time and completed the work as promised. No extra charges-price was extremely reasonable. They were professional, skilled and knowledgeable. The fast professional service saved us time and money. They cleaned up after the job, hauled all the materiala off (which is important when you're having commodes, tubs, tile, windows, etc replaced). A year later all the work done is still good. We would recommend and use this company again because of their skill level, price, professionalism, knowledge and work performed on time.

His crew was very good at removal of the old shingles, replaced flashing, and power ventilators. He was able to replace my architectural shingles with an exact match per my request. He added flashing to section where squirrels made a hole in the soffit. He even repaired a vent pipe that had broken in the attic for no additional charge. They also painted all of my exposed vents for a more finished look. The clean up was very good. They swepted the area with magnets several times to get the nails. I will tell you that I found more nails several weeks after the job, generally when we had stormy weather. I think nails still in roof valleys or even launched into trees during the removal eventually blow down during storms, so I don't hold responsible, I think it is just a fact of life with a roofing job.He gave me a 5 years warrantee on all work done. Recently a storm blew off a section of gutter guard and a vent cap. I called Rod and he was out within 2 days to repair it at no charge. I had had some bad experiences with other contractors, but Rod really does stand by his commitments and the quality of work is outstanding.

Southern Specialty installed a new roof covering on my house in April 2012. I am very pleased with the quality of the shingle and the look of the roof and the price. The firm is owned by Mr. Rod Holbrook. I met Rod at my property and he performed the inspection and gave me a written cost estimate. By the way, I had 5 contractors give me bids to replace my roof. I choose Rod and Southern Specialty for three reasons. 1. I saw another roof project they had just completed and it looked very attractive. 2. Rod agreed to pull a building permit which this city requires while the other contractors did not. 3. His price was little better. Rod suggested I use a architectural shingle. The cost was a little more; however the shingle looks better, lasts longer and is attached with additional nails to tolerate strong winds. I took Ron?s suggestion and it was worth the extra money. The architectural shingle has a longer warranty and creates a more attractive look. The crew finished my house in 1 day. Prior to getting my new roof there was a leak around the chimney flashing. I mentioned this to Rod and we agreed on a flashing method and a commercial quality sealant. Rod installed new chimney flashing part of the job himself. The new flashing and sealant has solved the problem. I have gone into my attic during heavy rains and verified the chimney has no signs of water leaks. I found Rod was fair to work with. My old roof covering was over 20 years old. Once the old roof was taken off there were a few soft deck boards near the brick chimney. Rod removed the soft deck boards and replaced them with new wood for a fair price. Southern Specialty provides a labor warranty on roofs they install. The work crew cleaned up my yard of all roofing debris and used large magnets to pick up any stray nails in the grass. Southern Specialty installed a good roof on my house and I suggest you have them bid your project. Good luck!

All Work was performed on time and within budget. Mr.Holbrook took into consideration the age of the house and gave a proper appraisal of the cost up front. Issues of rotting floors that were hidden and a pipe that broke in the wall (not related to this job) were taken care of as were issues of compensating for uneven walls and framing as a result of the home's settling over the years. Mr. Holbrook and all of his employees and subcontractors were clean, polite and professional. All areas were cleaned properly and left without any mess from work done. On the day where painters were coming and Mr. Holbrook was not to be present we were given a description and the name of the painter so as to identify them the day before. I would recommend SOUTHERN SPECIALTY to anyone needing their services.

I first used Rod holbrook and his company Southern Specialty to create a bedroom for our son. Since the quality of work was so exceptional, it was only natural then to call on him again when it was time to re-do our kitchen. It was a complete gut job and now everyone says "wow" when they walk in! As our neighbor's kid once said, "It looks like an MTV Cribs kitchen!!!".... the greatest compliment, ever : )Rod is very professional. Not only does he do goodwork, but he has an innate sense of interior design as well, and is very particular not only about job at hand,but also how things are going to look. He writes a well-detailed estimate so there are no surprises, and keeps a constant tally of work done and expenses incurred so all parties are aware of what is going on and everyone stays informed. He calls you right back when you have questions about your project. All the work he does is beautiful and there is no greater relief than knowing that when he is done, the work will be beautiful, clean up will be done and you don't have to worry about half completed jobs and missing contractors!!! I could go on and on about how much i appreciate and value the work Southern Specialty has done on our home, but the only proof you need is to know that they are about to begin a fourth project on our house. we would not have called him time and time again if we did not love his work!

start to finish everything went well

I've been using these guys for years and they always do a good job. But recently we had a storm at one of my properties that caused a lot of damage and I called Southern Specialty. Wow, i was really impressed with how they were able to deal with my insurance company then they got the job done. The service was fast and the quality was great. Although they have completed many small jobs for me in the past, this one was huge, over $54,000.

Rod was exceptional from the start. A true southern gent that purveyed honest hardworker immediately. I told him what I wanted and how much I wanted to spend. Rod took it from there. He had plenty of cost saving solutions that really helped give us value. He had a great crew and Rod was always on site and working. They came in at budget and they finished on time for the baby. They cleaned up after themselves everyday and after all was finished gladly came back to tweak some details. Best experience I have ever had with a contractor. I have and will always recommend Rod and his company anytime. JM

Mr. Holbrook is very professional and does excellent work. I probably could have found someone less expensive, but his work is meticulous (I used him several years ago also) and I know the quality of his work. I would rather pay a little more and get the job done right the first time.
