Everything went well. Rod came out and identified some storm related damage to our roof. He advised us to file a claim with our insurer. Later, He came back to meet with the insurance adjuster and worked with the adjuster to achieve full replacement of the roof instead of a patch job. Then, he negotiated with my insurer to make sure that the full replacement cost was covered. After we chose a roofing selection, the material arrived within a couple days and the crew came out and almost finished in 1 day (the roof was really large)....we did have one issue with the satellite TV and our carrier came out to realign, but i guess that should be expected since the satellite was mounted to the roof. Hands down the best in Atlanta!! This is not the first job they have completed and will not be the last.

Southern Specialty was originally called in to change the location of our dryer vent. The project was not straight forward and required some out of the box thinking as to a solution. Southern Specialty was able to come up with a great cost-effective fix! We had them give us an estimate on the total renovation of the laundry room and decided to go ahead with it. They did tile flooring, painting and amazing custom cabinetry all to our specific needs! Our contractors were extremely professional, worked long hours to meet their deadlines, were in constant contact with us and up front about all aspects of the project and its progression. They had work in all areas from plumbing, masonry, carpentry and electrical and performed each job with expertise and perfection. I could not be more happy with how the room came out. When they left on the last day we were already discussing the next project!

He charged me $75 and when I said I thought what he did was covered, he said no. In the meantime, I wrote a check for the extra $75, but he left it on the counter and I didn't see the check till he left. I called the gentleman and he said to forget it. I tried to send the check but there was no address on the card nor a website.

I am very impressed with his punctuality and professionalism and will gladly recommend him

Contacted them through Angie's List to see if they could come out to give us a quote on some kitchen and bath remodeling work, as well as finishing a basement. The response: "we can't help with that". Really, no further explanation. So, I guess, if you are looking for anything more than assembling a dog house, go find another contractor because these guys don't do much apparently or they are really lazy (especially based on the response). Good luck to you if you go with these guys.

I called to ask for a bid on a considerable renovation job. They said that they are very busy right now, and not accepting new jobs.

They are very good. They did good quality work. They were written up featured one time in the magazine. We would use them again if needed.

It went well. They were done in one day and a tech came back out to inspect it for me. And as of today, so far so good.

Unlike many locals who've had their roofs replaced & repaired due to hail damage, our roof was crushed & chimney knocked over from a tree falling on our home after several weeks of heavy rain. The tree fell on a rare night with no rain, and we knew the nasty weather was coming back in the next morning. My husband made a call to Southern Specialty at 7:30am. When I pulled in the driveway at 8:50am, after taking my children to school, we had no less than 5 work trucks already in the driveway, working as quickly as possible to protect our home from the impending rain. My eyes literally filled with tears of relief when I saw the team already in place, as we were so concerned about water getting into our home & damaging our belongings. Rod Holbrook, owner of Southern Specialty, was onsite the entire first day, ensuring we felt comfortable with the work that was being done & explaining the process for completing the repairs. He regularly visited our house to make sure the repairs were being handled in a timely & satisfactory manner. And he worked directly with our insurance company to iron out all those details so we didn't have to worry with it. Every time we needed documentation or photographs, he provided them the same day. From start to finish, Southern Specialty removed a tree from our roof; replaced & repaired the roof; removed old chimney & completely rebuilt new chimney; removed & replaced damaged siding; painted damaged exterior of house; repaired & painted deck; repaired interior wall damage; and painted affected interior room. We couldn't be more pleased with the work. It looks as if we never had the first bit of damage. We've been using Southern Specialty for the past 13 years, in this house as well as our last one, and they are who we call for any remodeling, roofing, repair, or new construction work. I thought the guy was a bit expensive because I don’t think I got the services that I was supposed to get that my insurance paid for. I feel I could get a lot because I was supposed to get new gutters which I didn’t get at all. As far as the painting on the interior was concerned, I felt like they overcharged me for that. They promised me many things they would do but they didn’t do it. They had to come back to redo a few areas of the roof that I wasn’t satisfied with and I don’t know what kind of paint he had used but I couldn’t sleep in my bedroom for about a month. I called them and told them that I could not work with him.

The home was built in 1988. Roof began leaking in 1990 and was sealed every other year with asphalt compound. Roof was replaced in 2010 by another contractor, but roof began leaking within 6 months. Contractor refused to repair or replace. Contacted Southern Specialty Contractors late last year after storm damage. Since Southern Specialty Contractors replaced the roof there have been several very hard rains. Roof no longer leaks. Owner, Rod Holbrook, conducts himself and his business in a very professional manner. He listened to my concerns and offered several suggestions to assure the roof would no longer leak. His suggestions added minimal cost to the job and gave me the assurances I required to feel comfortable with hiring his company. I am completely satisfied with his replacement of the roof and highly recommend this company for this type of work.

Excellent punctuality-always there when said they would be and did an excellent job of workmanship on the deck and the rest of the project as well. Would highly recommend this contractor-certainly not the cheapest in town-but like anything-you do get what you pay for. this contractor does return calls and will come back to address any issue.

Met with the ins adjuster, replaced the damaged roof and gutters and any other repairs that were needed on the home at that time.

We had a tree fall on our roof and the tree broke and took out part of the deck too. The insurance company was pretty dismissive and paid a very small amount that was basically an insult. I called a couple of companies to come out and they gave me estimates. I then called Southern Specialty and Tim came out and did a MUCH more extensive review of the damage and told me he would contact the insurance company to get a copy of their settlement statement (they didn't give -me- one) and take it from there. He said they would be the contact for the insurance and I didn't need to talk to them anymore, which was great with me. It's a long, long story as the insurance company was hoping we were going to go away, but they kept at it and suffice to say Tim and Rod got me a lot more money. I decided to go ahead with a complete roof and complete new deck rather than just a repair. I needed both anyway. Southern Specialty's price was very competitive. The work was set up for maybe 4 days from when the insurance came through. The roofers showed up about 1/2 hour before dawn and just went right to it as that meant they had the equipment ready when the sun came up enough to work. They worked until about an hour after sunset with pickup going on after dusk. They came back the next dry day and worked 4-5 hours to finish. I've got to say, these guys were very hard workers and they all seemed to know what they were doing. At they same time the carpenters were working on fixing damage and the two groups worked around each other very seamlessly. It was all pretty impressive to watch. The roof is beautiful! There was one miscommunication on the scope. I was very impressed that the 1st thing they did (and they all did it) was assure me that yes, there was a mistake made but they would take care of it and it certainly wouldn't cost -me- anything. And they did take care of it. The carpenters came back the next day it wasn't actually raining and finished the repairs, took out the old deck and put in a new one. The new deck is rock solid and looks great! I'm actually leaving a lot out for brevity, but the important points. Everyone I talked to was very professional and obviously knew what they were doing; Everyone worked very hard. And not really always required, but they're nice people... I have more work to be done on this house and will definitely be using them again.

I had questions which they were ready and willing to answer. I have used them several times and enjoy their service. they gave me an estimate, which is exactly what they charges. They show up on time. They are trustworthy and professional. Exemplary work.

It went very well. They arrived on time on the scheduled day, and finished within 15 minutes of the their estimated completion time. They worked diligently throughout the day and were professional at all times. They did a good job of cleaning up afterwards, including using magnets to pick up nails in the yard and shrubs. We have had several heavy rains since the work was done and there have been no leaks. I needed some help closing off the gaps above my gutters and underneath the eave of the roof on one side of the house (to keep squirrels out of my attic). This was not part of our original contract. They had someone at my house at the scheduled time the day after I called them, and they completed the work quickly. I highly recommend them.

The contractor repaired the vinyl siding and smoothed out the other vinyl sidings on the side of my house. He also explained what caused the damage, and discussed the warranty. I had a strip of siding that fell down from my house and I was concerned about other pieces falling. The provider explained the process of repairing the siding so I could get a better understanding of the work involved in repairing a damaged side. This company is very professional and I will definitely use them again for the interior of my home.

At a time when they were inundated with work, Rod and his team were always just a phone call away with quick response. Every one was professional, courteous, and skilled in their respective specialties. Rod made us feel we were in good hands, and the work that was done proved him right. They worked with the insurance adjusters and ensured that nothing was missed. The neighborhood was over run with contractors after a major hail storm in our area. We chose Southern Specialty out of all of them, for two initial reasons.. they were local, and Rod's personable approach. Glad we did. I'm planning on using Southern Specialty for future projects for our home, and would recommend them to friends and neighbors... they do it all. For quality work with a fair price Southern Specialty Contractors is a great choice.

It was like clock work. They are great. I would use them again for other projects in my home or out side of my home. They would keep in contact with me to let me know when they would be coming out to my home. There was a lot of rain this year but they still managed to get my roof gutters and screened in porch fixed in a timely manner. They worked well with my insurance co which I was very pleased with. Rod Holbrook and his team were great! State Farm had already been out and left a detailed claim report. Jon Cowan reviewed that report and did their own inspection and measuring. They found a few discrepancies, including some gutter and downspout hail dents that were not on the insurance report. They filed a supplemental claim on my behalf. They replaced the main roof of my house in one day, using the same kind and color of architectural shingles I had before and loved. Soon after, they sub-contracted with a metal roofing company, who came out and replaced the metal roofs of my workshop, RV shelter, and storage shelter. The workshop roof was difficult because the workshop has been added on to several times, and the roof has many angles. But those guys were great! They did a first class job over 2 days, when it was raining, at least part of the time. Finally, they sub-contracted to replace the gutters and downspouts. This took longer, because we have the Gutterguard brand gutters, and there is only one company n the whole area that is authorized to install them. They were very backed up with other jobs, but finally got to us, and did a great job. I don't hold Southern Specialty responsible for the delay on the gutters. This showed me the value added in getting a general contractor for a complex job like this. This also showed me the value of Angie's List in selecting a contractor.

Southern Specialty was very professional, hardworking, and provided us with quality service. After a hail storm that hit the Atlanta area last spring, our house sustained major damage to the roof, gutters, fascia, garage door, windows, and more. After reading positive reviews on Angie?s List, we contacted Southern and we have not been disappointed! We have worked very closely with the owner, Rod, over the past few months. He visited our house to review the damage and gave us an idea of how the insurance claim process would work. When the insurance adjuster came to visit our house, Rod was there too to make sure no damage was missed. The original check we received from our insurance company fell significantly short of the amount needed to repair all the damage. Despite this fact, Rod still had his staff start on the repairs while his office manager communicated with the insurance company on our behalf. When our insurer had the adjuster come back to our house, Rod once again came to make sure the report covered all of the damage to our house. After the adjuster?s second visit, the insurance company agreed to cover all the damages. Within weeks, all of the repairs were complete and they took the time to make sure everything was completed to our satisfaction. We plan on using Southern Specialty again for future projects and would highly recommend them to our friends and family with hesitation.

Excellent! Sales people were very helpful and attentive. They assisted with insurance claim and were there when insurance adjuster made initial inspection of the roof. Work crews were very efficient and considerate. All aspects of the work was done professionally and with precision. Clean up was done to perfection. Everyone I dealt with in the company was friendly, helpful and handled all the details.

Each of the subcontractors did an excellent job on their parts and cleaned up quite well when finished. All projects were very professionally done and the contractor and sub-contractors were courteous. Contractor helped me understand the insurance process since the repairs were due to a large hail storm. I would recommend Southern Specialty to anyone without reservation.
