Called for an estimate for a couple rotted door frames to be repaired and rain guards to be installed. They responded and came out the next day. He took my email and said he would send me a quote and I never heard from them again. It's been over a month and at this point, I had to move on to someone who would do the job.

I could not be happier with the services that Rod Holbrook provided. I'm renovating my 1980s era townhome little by little and I must say that Rod and his crew were always on time, always there to answer my questions, always willing to go the extra mile. His pricing was not the lowest bid I received, it was close to the highest bid, but it was extremely fair for all the little extras Rod helped me with. Rod is the third contractor with whom I have worked over the years and by far the best! I am extremely detail oriented and that is challenging for many so-called professional contractors, but Rod was never unsettled. The quote process worked well with a minor scheduling issue (my fault) that they were patient and worked with me to get the assessment for the work done. I received the quoted price and waited to compare with two other local companies. Southern Specialty Contractors price was about $800 higher than the other quotes we received. The quote was not very detailed so it was difficult to try and determine the reason for the large difference in price. Ultiimately, I went with another contractor for the work because I could not justfiy the price difference in my mind. I have no other issues, they were professional and I believe had I used them for this job that the work would have met my expecations but the price difference was the deciding factor on who got the job.

Super service. This company made adjustments to their schedule and length of day to help me resolve an issue related to my experience with a delivery company's lack of competence and initiative when performing appliance delivery to my home. Rod 'rescued' my new appliances that were stuck outside and by removing doors and handles, they positioned the appliances inside my home and installed the four major appliances. All this after receiving my call for help merely two hours earlier! I appreciate them going above and beyond to help me - someone with no previous history with them. They will be the FIRST company I call when home repairs and improvements are needed in my future.

Arrived on time. Provided feedback after inspection and repaired areas as agreed.

Rod was very responsive and honest about the scope and requirements of our proposed project. Gave us some good information and advice. Our job is not something they would do right now, but would certainly consider them in the future.

SSC took time to find the correct shingles and did a complete job. They did more than patch an area, they inspected the entire roof and did the necessary work to improve and prevent future issues. Being bonded and insured gave great confidence and assurance that the work would be done right the first time. SSC responded to my request in a timely manner and did a thorough job. They responded to my calls and texts and were patient with my questions and inquiries. SSC was cost effective. They quoted an estimate and the final price was 25% less, meaning they did not over-charge me. My experience with SSC was very good; honest, up-front, thorough, timely, & cost effective.

Everyone in the neighborhood needed repairs. I decided to use a company with a local address instead of one of the many migrant companies that follow storm damage across the nation. I saw all of the good reviews of this company and went with it. All of the direct employees I met (not the subcontractors) were excellent professional people whom I liked. Mismanagement was evident from the beginning, with two different supervisors appearing simultaneously, each thinking it was his job. Over a period of time the job was almost completed, then nothing. Finally a phone call reminding them that the insurance company still owed them over a thousand dollars if they would finish the job brought them out to complete it. This was over a year ago - I am writing this now since Angie's List reminded me to. Hopefully whoever owns the company has hired someone who can run the company better with regards to the main office.

It was the best. They’re actually the best contractor I’ve ever used. They’re on time and on budget. They cleaned up everything. They’ve done 4 or 5 different jobs for me. They’re nice people. You get along with no attitude with any of the employees. They did exactly what they said they would do. They guarantee their work. Their work looks perfect. It’s exactly what I wanted. They have a job that they’re going to price for me. They’re redoing my garage and I expect to use them again for that.

They did a very professional job and I would not hesitate to call them for other jobs and would highly recommend them.

Roofing was exceptional. In and Out and clean-up in one day. Sheetrock work took longer and personnel were not as punctual.

Jeffrey Holbrook was excellent to work with. He was honest, sincere, and genuine. My only surprise was the eventual price. We encountered some additional problems after the estimate was given, for which I certainly expected to pay, but I thought it would probably add another $200-$300 or so and it was $450. I don't think for a moment that he took advantage of the situation but I was surprised at the final billing. However, I felt very comfortable that he'd done a first rate and competent job, which eased the sticker shock a bit.

I engaged this company through my renter and not through Angie's list. Communication was done mostly between the two of them. Once all the insurance details were worked out, the job went quickly and was good.

Wallpaper was removed in kitchen and kitchen was painted. When estimate was given for kitchen, the estimate did not include painting the trim. We didn't know that at the time and had to do that ourselves. Also, disregard the comment regarding the senior discount. When we asked for that, we were totally ignored. We had some tile work to be done in the bathroom. We were told they would contact us about doing those repairs but we never heard back from them. We had to contact someone else to take care of that.

The estimate was reasonable. If I decide to get the work done I would possibly go with his company.

I had an off-beat job at my company's warehouse that involved installing gutter and drip face brackets to reinforce the entire roof perimeter. We had storm damage in the past and were being required by our insurance company to come up with a method of reinforcement. I had many contractors come out to bid for the job but many turned down the work or had strings attached such as not sourcing the brackets (aka not taking on full liability). When Rod came by it was a breath of fresh air. He was more thorough in his evaluation of the work than all the other contractors combined. He expanded on the original concept, revised certain things with the engineer's original design, and sourced the brackets. He had the brackets pre-drilled, powder coated, and used stainless steel hardware, meaning this installation will not rust or deteriorate anytime soon. We were on a tight timeline with the insurance company to get this done and Rod came through in full stride. The job started a few days earlier than expected and finished a week or so earlier than anticipated. He and his crew were careful not to make a mess and communication was never an issue. I am truly grateful for his work and would recommend him to anyone looking for a great contractor. Thanks Rod!

It went extremely well and I was pleased to find out that my roof will last a few more years.

This is the second time Southern Specialty has been out and they were once again excellent. The painting and pressure washing were pretty routine and well done. The inside work also went well. The crawl space, though, was a whole different animal. Let's just say the original construction (I didn't buy it new) was faulty. Because Angie's List would probably censor me if I used the words I want to I won't. The real wonder was that the house never just fell down. They went under there and completely rebuilt and basically redesigned the whole area. It was very hard and incredibly messy work, not to mention dangerous. I went under there after they were done and was very impressed with the work done and the knowledge required to know what to do. Once again, very happy with the work done. Pleasant people who really know what they're doing and work hard. Can't ask for anything more and will use them again for sure. One word about the price, Could I have gotten the painting and inside repairs cheaper? Probably somewhat. But I have peace of mind with their work and they are competitive on the price. Not cheapest, but competitive. And I'm pretty convinced there isn't anyone that could do it better.
