+ -1 moreIn preparation for a kitchen remodel we had Engineered Solutions check our uneven and sagging first level floors. Jay Eastland came out and used a very impressive piece of equipment to measure how far off level the floor was. Then he checked the basement below and found several floor joists that were cracked and needed to be reinforced. The crew, supervised by Douglas, did a great job – even repaired additional floor joists that were not included in the estimate, just because they did not like the way they looked. It is like a fortress now! My husband said he wishes they had been around when the house was built. They were the hardest working group of men I have seen in a long time. The job was scheduled to take three days but the crew was able to complete it in two. I was also impressed with how well they cleaned up after the job. If we need any further structural work done – we know who to call!!
Description of Work: Temporary support beams were installed to return floor to a more level position. Several cracked floor joists were “sistered” and joist hangers were also installed on all the joists that had been notched out to set on a ledger. (Might not be the correct technical terms).

+ -1 moreI had 3 cracks in my foundation in the basement/garage area and one of them had begun to leak. I received several estimates and Engineered Solutions was competitive with the other quotes. I decided to go with ESOG because of all the favorable reviews I read. I also liked the 10 year warranty against all leaks on the cracks they repaired. Alex came out and sealed the 3 cracks and I haven't had any problems with water leaking in my garage and basement since. I was very pleased with Engineered Solutions.
Description of Work: Three foundation cracks were injected with foam and sealed to repair an area that had been leaking water into my garage and basement.

They arrived exactly as promised. They worked in 90+ degree heat and finished the job is less than 2 days. They cleaned and removed all equipment and excess materials.
Description of Work: Engineered Solutions of GA installed 5 piers to fix a foundation problem in the garage. They also added pipes to the downspout to route water away from the foundation.

They agreed that we stop the work and they agreed to do it for a fraction of what it would have cost though slightly more than the other company. It worked well and I was happy with their work. The owner talked to me. I will use them in the future.

Description of Work: Installed an interior drain system around the perimeter of the basement which was fet to a sump pump that the company installed.There was use jack hammers to bread the existing concrete floor. There was much concrete dust which was not controlled or removed by the company. I had to address this on my own after the job was done.

+ 0 moreThe person who came out to give me an estimate appeared to be very knowledgeable about the problem that I had. He gave me what I thought was a thorough solution. I thought the price was fair and as long as the house stays up, its good quality; as long as there is no more cracking but I think it's too soon to tell. It seems like overall the materials were of high quality and the workmanship was of good quality.

+ 0 moreI first was in touch with owner Jay Eastland of ESOG two years ago when a structural engineer determined that my house foundation was sagging 7/8" between my two garage doors; the engineer recommended I be in touch with Jay for the repair. Two years later, I was in a position to make the repair and called Jay again. I got a couple of other bids from other companies, and Jay matched the lowest bid. His crew of 3 arrived in the hour window we'd agreed on this past Saturday. They explained what they were going to do, and then they called me to come observe at the two points I'd requested. The price estimate had been predicated on their having to drill no more than 21' for the helical pier to hit firm ground; it took 23', and the price stayed the same. They put up the squash blocks as designated in the structural engineer's report, poured fresh concrete in the hole that now contains the pier and supporting bracket, and left the garage floor cleaner than they had encountered it. All told, I think it was a 5-hour job. I am very pleased, and would recommend Engineering Solutions of Georgia any time!
Description of Work: Tearing up the concrete (about 2' x 3') between 2 garage doors in order to put in a helical pier down 23' and secure house foundation with bracket; addition of "squash blocks" along beams supporting first level of the house perpendicular to the pier; replacement of concrete in front of garage and cleanup of garage floor.

+ 1 moreThe entire project went very smoothly and the work was performed exactly as promised. The crew, supervised by Hassan, were punctual and professional. They arrived on time and worked hard each day. They were very courteous and eager to ensure that we were pleased with their work. Hassan and his crew were extremely knowledgeable and were happy to explain what they were doing and why at every step. On the last day of the job, which took four days to complete, Jay's partner Louis came by to make sure we were totally happy with what they had done and to look over the project. Every single person with whom we had contact at Engineered Solutions was just great, from Jay and Louis to the office staff and everyone who worked on site. They even left our basement cleaner than they found it. We'd recommend this company without hesitation to anyone looking for honesty, reliability and competency in a foundation repair company .
Description of Work: Engineered Solutions' Jay Eastland assessed structural problems and seepage problems at our house, which is a ranch with a walkout basement. The concrete floor on our front porch was cracking, and a concrete block wall in the basement had shifted and bowed. We were also experiencing ongoing problems with water seeping into the basement along two walls. Jay determined that roots from a tree growing right next to the porch were causing the front porch floor to heave and crack. He advised us to have the tree removed, which we did. The basement problem was a little more complicated to fix, but Engineered Solutions took care of it by installing a series of steel soldier beams all along the bowed wall to stabilize and reinforce it. Had we addressed this issue earlier, before the blocks actually shifted out of place, it would have cost less to repair, but as it was, the repairs ES performed were still far less costly than dealing with a basement cave-in. Jay also determined that water from a downspout was contributing to the seepage in the basement. (The other causes -- improper grading and a leaky pipe -- were being addressed by our handyman and plumber.) Jay also found that a downspout wasn't properly channeling water away from the foundation so the ES crew dug a trench in the yard and buried a drain pipe which they attached to the end of the downspout. This moves rain water away from the house. It has a flat pop-up cap which allows us to mow the lawn without damaging the drain cap or the mower.

+ -1 moreThe representative was very patient and thorough, and after a walk through the house with me, very honestly told me that the cracks I was seeing in the dry wall were not the sort that would indicate foundation settling. He did point out a few things that might be issues a few years down the road, but said that right now, I didn't need his company's services. I really appreciate honesty and integrity of this kind--and this has won my loyalty to them, and my recommendation of them to anyone who asks.

Description of Work: We had just noticed cracks in our unfinished 20 y/o basement after several deluges and as we are on a slope, thought our foundation had started to change and frankly suspected a monumental repair bill. Engineered Solutions came promptly and sent Jay Eastland to inspect and give us an estimate. After a complete inspection he told us we didn't need him, as the foundation was secure and the cracks were part of the normal process, not to be of concern! Thank You Jay for being so honest about your work and for easing our minds. We would advise anbody to call these guys, they're straight shooters.

+ 0 moreVery good. Our old kitchen floor had fallen in by a few inches. I had secured engineering drawings for the work done by Chris Grubb (see Grubb Engineering) and provided these to Mr. Eastland. His estimate was done promptly and his price provided within a week. After I accepted proposal, Mr. Eastland later called to confirm the start date which was about a month off. His excellent team showed up on time and completed the work in less than two days. On the second day, before completion, my engineer (Chris Grubb) came by to inspect. There were a few specifications that were either not implemented or not communicated properly by the engineer, I'm not sure which. However, I was pleased that Mr. Eastland modified the work quickly and on the spot with the engineering inspector. His crew was courteous and professional and did excellent work. They cleaned up completely. I now have a level kitchen floor again! I am immensely pleased with the job done by Engineered Solutions.
Description of Work: Replaced eight broken and rusted structural support posts in basement crawlspace. Increased concrete footings for supports to ensure future stability.

+ 0 moreAllan Waite the Senior Technical Advisor scheduled an appointment to analyze the problem. He investigated and determined that the void need to be filled with concrete slurry but said there would be no guaruntee that the solution would work 100% not knowing the extent of the void. He made a proposal within two days. I accepted it and gave a $750 deposit. The work was scheduled for 11/30/2009 between 8:30 and 9:30 am. The crew arrived at 10:15am and started the work (set up, and drilling holes for injection of concrete slurry). The crew came the next day and began the injection process. Upon conpletion, the crew clean the work areas to my satisfaction. So far no water intrusion after two heavy rain storms.
Description of Work: Fill void below concrete slab under a section of the house. Water was infilltrating the void and running over the foundation wall during heavy rain storms (more than two inches).

Jay Eastland, the owner, heard and responded to all of my concerns, and was always quick to return my MANY phone calls in the attempt to find the best solution for my problem. Not only did they support the structure, but they raised it significantly without causing additional "popping" of sheetrock, molding, etc. They are an excellent company and I highly recommend them for foundation and structural problems. I hope to also use them to add additional waterproofing materials to the existing system.

+ -1 moreAfter discovering interior and exterior cracks in our building that were signs of foundation settlement, we sought estimates from 3 foundation repair companies. 1 never even called us back, 1 gave us an enormous estimate that we never would have been able to afford. Engineered Solutions was recommended by our independent inspector. They were prompt, courteous, gave us the most competitive estimate, and were willing to answer all questions about the construction plan. Mr. Eastland even attended our association meeting to answer residents' questions before work began. The work was scheduled quickly and completed within 3 days of the start date. They also did an excellent job with the clean up. They were personable, knowledgeable, and easy to work with. Highly recommend.

Description of Work: There were water stains on the basement walls. I thought I had a foundation problem that actually turned out to be a moisture situation. They cut a trench in the cement floor of the basement and put in a plastic conduit. Therefore, all of the water that comes through the walls goes to a sump pump. They sealed everything back up and the work took 3 days.

+ 1 moreJay Eastland one of the owners was very pleasant from the start and all through the bidding process as we researched other companies. Once the work started, Luis Cuevas, the other owner was on site the entire time. The crew did a fantastic job. It took 2 days to complete. The first day the crew dug the 3 holes by hand in order to get the helical piers in place for proper placement to drill into the ground. This all took place on the outside of the house right next to the foundation. After completion of the first day the area was cleaned, and secured. The second day the crew drilled the piers until they were secure. Luis and his team then lifted the structure very slowly as to not damage the house. They were so precise in their measurement. Once they finished they made sure that we were satisfied with the work. The area was cleaned up very nicely. I hung out with them at times just to see how the process worked and they educated me. We were very pleased and would recommend them.
Description of Work: We had 3 Helical Piers installed under our front and side foundation footing and the structure was lifted to a more level position.
