Response from Zerorez of Savannah & the Lowcountry
I can only address what was said in the review as this person did not call us for any consultation, they just posted this review five months after the work was completed; we stand behind our work 100% and without question will always come back out to re-address a situation if we are notified. So, let me start by saying, carpet dry times are primarily controlled by the air quality and circulation in the home, evaporation is what dries carpet. We collect approximately 90% - 95% of the moisture we put down and anything left behind is evaporated away in the time the air in the home allows. If the air in the home is already humid and/or not being circulated, the dry time will be extended. Air conditioning is the best thing for drying carpet as it removes moisture from the air and allows evaporation to accelerate. Opening windows and running the heating system does nothing for evaporation as humidity comes in from outside and the heating system doesn't extract moisture from the air. In regard to our cleaning process, we use a citrus based pre-spray to emulsify oils and break down dirt; we use our Empowered Water to finish the cleaning process and it also rinses away the pre-spray and dirt. To that end, if there were anything in our process that left pink marks behind, we would be having that discussion with clients on a daily basis and would have been out of business long before now. Most likely, what really happened is the soap from the previous cleaning wicked to the surface as the carpet dried and caused the discoloration. Quantities of soap will extend the carpet drying process and once it is dry the carpet will be sticky, crunchy and attract dirt because, as carpet dries it works just like a candle, anything below the surface will be wicked to the top of the carpet fibers . Because I was not onsite or consulted about any of this, I can only assume, whether it was a contractor, a rented machine or worse, an in home vacuum cleaner adapted to work as a carpet cleaner and purchased from a box store, the previous cleaning deposited the soap and the additional step of rinsing the carpet with an acidic rinse was not done. The age old process of pumping soap into carpet and then trying to vacuum it back out is the reason you hear about carpet that stays wet so long, and once the carpet does dry it feels sticky and crunchy and starts attracting dirt almost immediately. If I've said it once, I've said it a thousand times, once soap is introduced to carpet it's almost impossible to get back out and yet, no matter how many times I say it, we are always blamed for the faults of the previous cleaner because this is something most people do not understand. We use NO soap, shampoo or any other off the shelf cleaning agent to complete our work and due to that, nothing we do will leave the carpet sticky, crunchy or attracting dirt, it is the result of whoever was there before us. Unfortunately, once someone has pumped the carpet full of soap, it would take us all day going over and over the carpet to even begin to extract all the soap. This is something we have done in the past, it’s easy to prove using a flash extractor but it is a time consuming process to extract soap from carpet. Lastly, price... This person purchased one of our deals from Angie's List and we scheduled the job and went out to perform the work. Obviously there was a discussion between them and the technician regarding applying fiber protection and they opted to have that service done. Why it's now being reported as the price being higher than the estimate I do not understand. We can't afford to give away product and if they didn't want to pay for it, why did they approve/request it? Even more interesting, we protect one room for $30, two rooms for $50 and three rooms for $60... This person got three rooms done for $40 (not the $45 they claimed, I have the invoice in our system), a $20 discount from the technician for some reason, and apparently they didn't realize it or didn't want to admit they got a deal... The moral of all this is, regardless of whether it was us or someone else who cleaned the carpet this time around, the result would have been the same, the only difference being, if it had been the person who cleaned it the last time doing it again, the dry time, stickiness and attraction of dirt would have doubled and they would have gotten the bad review instead of us. At Zerorez we have an open door policy, I am happy to show anyone who wants to take the time how we make our Empowered Water as well as the details of how we clean. We have nothing to hide, give us a call or just stop by and we'll answer any questions you have.
