Movers were over an hour late. My husband was given a contract and told where to place a check in order to get moved that day or they would have to reschedule, even though I made the appointment for that day. I should have been given the contract prior if this was the case. This one check mark kept the mover owner from helping me later with scratched floors. He was not going to pay due to the deductible we checked on that contract (but we were told we had to mark that if we wanted moved that day).
My husband loaded the entire rental truck himself to be ready for movers. It took many trips 3-4 to complete the house movement. When movers stopped halfway done, it was 4 in morning, and I was told to wake up (my husband was working with them until then, and I was so tired because I had helped to that I was already asleep) so I could write the check, for the movement that day, even without the job being done. This signature states all is done and done with no problems.
So when I woke the next morning, I found scratches on walls, dents, and dirt marks that will now not come off due to it being flat paint. My husband told me they used a marker to cover one scratch mark, but he had not seen the worst. As the day went on, I moved a small handtowel that was on the floor to discover deep embedded scratches all the way through the dark hardwood floor. There are about 10, with one being almost 2 feet long.
I went back to the old house, and found all kinds of furniture left, and because I wasnt out in time, I had to pay extra rent fees for not getting it all out. I had to pay an extra week because it took them that long to come back to finish. The movers were told to do the job on their own personal time because they had jobs during the day. Even though I was a paying customer, I was not handled in a timely manner. I was told I was luck,y that he let the truck be used for the rest of my move because it could be bringing in hundreds of dollars per hour, so he was losing money for it not being used on another job. The owner also said he would not come look at the job left because he had a busy week and didn't have time. I was told to get estimates. He would never answer the question if he would fix it, he just kept repeating that we had checked coverage of only $400 (the one we were told to check). He never contacted me to see how things went or were going. I would contine calling, leaving messages, but no answer. He finally texted, and stated he was out of town that he didn't need there to be any problems. He told me he was going to take it out of the movers pay, which I find unexceptable. They worked hard and were nice, and I didnt want them to lose money for the long hard hours they worked.
The Savannanh Moving company took no responsibility. Instead I was yelled at and then told, "yea, now you just want money back, well you aren't going to get it". He told me, when I told him I was going to complain to Angies List, that Angies List was a crock and didn't care. When I asked him about paying for the damage, he said he wasn't the owner, that he was the co-owner, but refused to give me the other owners name. He said he was a silent partner. He basically refused to do anything responsible for what had been done, all the money I lost, and now have a damaged floor in my brand new home that was built.
I do not recommend this person/company. He seems nice up front, but if anything is to go wrong, he will not do the right thing.
Three men arrived late because of traffic problems in midtown. We had five rooms full of antique furniture on two floors of the house. The men wrapped each piece in blankets and stretchwrap and loaded it onto the truck. Many pieces were heavy and or bulky. I thought there should have been two men moving the piece where one did the work. There were no mishaps however. One piece did come apart while it was being moved down the stairs. This piece came unglued and appeared to me to be a flaw in the furniture.
All pieces (1 exception) arrived in good shape. The price was $144 per hour for three men and a truck. I thought this was expensive but was the lowest price I found locally. All were respectful and courteous.
