At the end the floor was good. It took them two weeks to complete the floor. They gave us a quote for how much it would cost. They mis-measured the area so they wanted me to pay an additional $300.00. They were in my house for three months and they still had it wrong. I did not pay it since it was their mistake for not measuring correctly. Two guys came out to do the work and were very professional. The owner was not so professional.
Description of Work: They put in kitchen flooring and other things.

Early 02/2013: I called Miller?s Surface Gallery (MSG) and identified myself as the holder of a $1,000 LivingSocial Voucher that I wanted to redeem towards the remodeling of our master bathroom. Because I was getting ready to leave town for 3 weeks, I requested an appointment at my house on the morning of 03/11/13. The woman I spoke to booked the appointment for her and Darrin Miller (the owner of the company) to be at my house at the agreed time on 03/11/13. 03/11/13: The MSG representatives were a "no show" at my house on 03/11/13. When I called an hour later to find out what happened, I received an apology and explanation that Mr. Miller was accidentally double-booked at the time of my appointment and was, therefore, tied up with his other appointment. I was rebooked for his next available appointment time: 10am on 03/15/13. When I explained that the promotional value of Living Social Voucher would expire on 03/14/13, I was told that Mr. Miller promised to honor the promotional value of the Living Social Voucher even though it would be past the expiration date. 03/15/13: Mr. Miller met with my wife and myself at our house, inspected and measured our master bathroom and agreed to work up some design and cost proposals for our bathroom remodeling job. He said that because of his current workload, it would be a few weeks before he?d have anything ready to present to us. As I was soon leaving town again for 3 weeks, we agreed to meet again in mid-April (date to be determined). I offered the Living Social Voucher to him during this meeting, but he said to hang on to it until our next meeting in mid-April. ~04/18/13: After hearing nothing from anyone at MSG since our 03/15/13 meeting, I called to inquire about the status of our project. The lady who answered the phone said that she?d have Mr. Miller call me back. No one called me back. 04/22/13: I called MSG again and explained who I was and what I wanted. I was then transferred to another MSG representative who did not answer so I was automatically transferred to her voicemail. I left a detailed voicemail asking for an immediate return call. No one called me back. 04/24/13: After hearing nothing from anyone at MSG, I called MSG again and asked to have Mr. Miller call me back as soon as possible. The lady who answered the phone took my message and agreed to give it to Mr. Miller. No one called me back. Mid 05/2013: Since no one at MSG responded to any of the above April calls and no one had provided any information to me since our meeting with Mr. Miller on 03/15/13, I complained to LivingSocial and requested a refund of my voucher payment. 05/23/13: I received an E-mail from LivingSocial explaining that they had discussed our situation with MSG. Not coincidentally, a MSG representative called our house this same day and left a voicemail notifying us that we would be receiving an E-mail with sketches of the proposed redesign of our bathroom. The promised E-mail containing sketches but no cost information did arrive on 05/23/13. Neither the voicemail nor the E-mail from MSG offered any explanation or apology for the long delay or even acknowledgement of the fact that it had been 69 days since Mr. Miller?s visit to our house and that no one had contacted us since then. 05/28/13: A MSG representative called me to find out when we would be ready to proceed with their proposal. I explained that we were very dissatisfied with MSG?s neglect of and apparent disrespect for us based on their treatment of us to date. I summarized the history for her. She had no explanation for why it took them 10 weeks to follow-up on the 03/15/13 visit to our house. She denied having any knowledge of my three April phone calls and she apologized for the lack of response. She also denied any knowledge of Living Social contacting MSG regarding our dissatisfaction. I explained that we would not be hiring MSG for fear that they?d get half way into our project and then disappear for weeks or longer. I never did hear from Mr. Miller after our 03/15/13 meeting.
Description of Work: We requested a proposal from Miller's Surface Gallery for the remodeling (design and installation) of our master bathroom including modifying walls, new cabinets and stone countertop, new wash basin, new whirlpool tub, new plumbing and light fixtures, new tile, repainting, etc. I estimate that our out-of-pocket cost for this project would have been $12,000 to $18,000.

Very trustworthy and hardworking company. The boss man himself did a lot of the install. Very happy with the results. ...I am adding this about 6 months after the original job was done to say that we are still extremely pleased. The floors are beautiful!!!!! They are durable, easy to care for, and we have no complaints! Our 3 boys are rough on them and they seem to be a great investment. We hope to use this company again in the near future for other projects. It is really nice to know that there are still honest, hard working people left in a world. (:
Description of Work: Installed heart pine engineered flooring and tile flooring.

They were great in the showroom when they were trying to get the job. The showroom is beautiful and the tile selection is great. The manager was helpful in picking out samples. Then, it all fell apart. I spent $1000 on a bathroom granite countertop installation. The installation job was ok, not great. Sealer was supposed to be included with install, which was not. I spent several hours after they left picking glue off, cleaning, and sealing the countertops (plus spent $40 for sealer). The undermount sink hole was not cut quite right, either. Still, not terrible. My issue is with their mishandling of a discount purchased from Living Social. I paid $149 for $500 off a purchase. Even though it is NOWHERE in writing, I was informed that I would have to spend a minimum of $2500 to use the coupon I had purchased (in other words, to save $351). So my measly $1000 purchase was not enough. I even asked if I could apply it towards the purchase of something else in the store; nope! When I said we wanted to do some tile work ourselves, then I was informed the discount could only be applied to "complete remodels", even though I have no need for a complete remodel. The manager informed me they had a lot of other customers trying to redeem the voucher for small jobs, so the store was losing money on the deal. She said "we will never use Living Social again". I informed her that as a consumer, it is not my problem if the store made a poor business decision or failed to make stipulations in the fine print. The manager told me to call the owner, Darrell Miller. His cell phone was disconnected, and he did not return my calls on the office voicemail. When I finally got him on the phone, he literally yelled at me. He said no one else had an issue paying $2500 to use the discount. He refused to even refund the $149 I spent for the voucher, let alone apply the advertised discount to my purchase. Someone from the company finally called me back a week and a half later and said Mr. Miller was willing to refund me $75 "because that's how much the Living Social deal cost him." WHAT?! I was treated like some sort of pariah for trying to apply the discount that THEY advertised and I PAID $149 for! This is absolutely the worst customer service I have ever encountered from a business owner. I have contacted the Better Business Bureau and am waiting (and waiting) for a response. It is only a matter of time before Mr. Miller's attitude and dishonest practice drives this business into the ground.

Response from MILLER SURFACE GALLERY
In response to (deleted member name) complaint: In researching: (deleted member name) purchased a Living Social voucher for $500.00 to spend on Kitchen and Bath remodeling, flooring and countertops for $149.50 from LivingSocial (a form of our business advertisement)to be used at Miller Surface Gallery, LLC. The instructions on the Voucher say 1.) To redeem, call 912-373-8960; appointments required and subject to availability. 2.) Be sure to mention your LivingSocial deal and voucher number 3.) Present printed or smartphone vouchers upon arrival 4.) Enjoy! * Cancellation/re-scheduling policy of 24 hours applies; voucher subject to forfeiture It also states: Refund Policy LivingSocial will provide a refund if you contact us within seven days after you've purchased your voucher. After that, we provide refunds upon request in cases where you are unable to redeem a voucher because the merchant has gone out of business before the promotional period ends. (deleted member name) first came to our showroom on August 25, 2012 and filled out our customer contact sheet that she was interested in counter tops, tile in shower, walls and floor. Our Showroom manager Zoe waited on her. On August 30, we received a voicemail from (deleted member name) saying his wife picked out some samples and was waiting on someone to come out and do the measurements. Chris Eanes was scheduled on Sept. 5, 2012 to do measurements and estimate for the job. They had picked out a granite that was no longer in stock (Millennium Cream) so they picked out a different granite. The customer was given two estimates, one for granite countertops for $970.00 and one for a Master Bathroom to install a Schluter Kerdi System and tile for $3,377.53. On September 13, 2012 (deleted member name) accepted the granite proposal. Chris placed the granite in (deleted member name) house and invoiced her on Sept 24. That evening she emailed Zoe asking about the estimate for the master bathroom and added in the email "We have a Living Social discount with $500 to spend on remodeling, and want to apply it to the countertop. How do we go about this?" This was the first that we were made aware that (deleted member name) had purchased a LivingSocial voucher. All customers were told with their LivingSocials vouchers that the remodel had to be minimum $2500.00 with the $500.00 voucher. It was posted everywhere in our store and (deleted member name) was informed of this at that time. Calista Stone Cutters received their $970.00 payment from the Cooks on October 5, 2012. Over five months later, March 22, 2013, (*the day before the vouchers expired) I received a call from (deleted member name)) Zoe had referred her to me. She wanted her $149.00 that she paid for the voucher refunded. I told her I would check with Mr. Miller and get back to her. I did check with Mr. Miller and he said he would be happy to refund the customer half of what she paid to LivingSocial which was $75.00. When I called (deleted member name) back, I asked her if she had contacted LivingSocial and she said she got nowhere with them and she did not accept our offer, she wanted the refund in full and said that she would see us in court. The voucher was not bought from us, it was bought from LivingSocial. The money was paid to LivingSocial and all customers were told immediately when they called of the stipulations, so they could get their refunds if needed. We don't pay for the LivingSocial advertisement; they get their money from the people who buy their vouchers. We have not heard from the BBB and we are still willing to refund the customer the $75.00 as a courtesy. We do not feel that Miller Surface Gallery has done anything dishonest. This customer did not follow the Instructions on the voucher and waited until the bill was sent to mention it. We pride ourselves on quality, loyalty and communication in the 20 years that Mr. Miller has had this business.
