Furniture Refinishing and Repair, Antiques, Furniture - Custom Made
About us
Earl Ginn began refinishing furniture in 1980. What started out as a hobby has turned into a successful family business. Today, Danny, Jimmy, Freddie and Linda Ginn work together at the family shop in Savannah.
We still take the same pride in our workmanship as Earl Ginn did. You can be sure that your furniture, antiques and heirlooms are in good hands with our team.
Many things have changed over the years, but when it comes to Wood and Custom Furniture, we stick to the basics. We have built an arsenal of tools and have all of the machinery and techniques to re-finish, re-purpose or even build you a Custom piece of furniture.

I called two days after they said it would be ready, and they hadn't started it yet. I called back on the new day it was supposed to be ready, and they told me it was just repaired and the glue needed a couple of days to dry. When I eventually picked up the drawer, the dovetails had been cut off from the splinters of wood, the splinters were glued back to the drawer face sticking up about 1/16”, and the face was reattached using glue and nails. I mentioned I was not happy at all with the repair. They tried to fix what they could semi-resolve by taking five minutes to sand down the part of the splinters sticking up, and they gave me a refund. With the dovetails disposed of, numerous nail holes now in the drawer, and glue adhering to the wood surrounding the face, there is no chance of ever restoring the antique dresser drawer even close to how it was originally.
Description of Work: I took in a drawer from an antique dresser from which a single dovetail on each side of the drawer face broke off, taking with it a splinter about 2” long, ¾” wide, and ½” deep from the drawer face. I asked that the splinter be glued back in so it would be flush and the drawer face reattached. I was told it would be no problem and that they would thoroughly clean out the damaged wood so the repaired section would be smooth.

We have a dining room table with eight chairs and two leaves that is made of high quality solid oak. It was also stained with a light oak stain and didn't go with the vast majority of our living area furniture, which is an espresso color. Ginn Furniture is about an hour away from our home, so I sent photos via e-mail and received a quote from Danny Ginn for refinishing everything. Shortly after we visited the company when we were in the area, showed them a sample drawer of the finish we were looking for, and arranged to have the work done. Because of the number of pieces, Danny and his wife, Linda, came to our home to pick them up. We told them we needed the dining room set back no later than six weeks, as we were expecting out of town company. Danny called less than four weeks later to say it was ready to be delivered. But he ended up calling back the next day to say he wasn't perfectly satisfied with the way the table top came out and wanted to work on it a little more. He's the expert, so that was fine with us. He ended up delivering the set two days later and it was beautiful, just the color we wanted. On further inspection, there was a small smudge mark on the seat of one of the chairs. Danny insisted on taking it back to the shop, fixed it, and drove back the next day, an hour each way, to return it. He wanted it to be right. The professionalism of Ginn Furniture is excellent and they are great people to work with. Family owned and run for three generations, a great deal of experience, and very sweet people. There are not many places like this anymore across the country. Every time we walk by that dining room set we couldn't be happier.
Description of Work: Stripped, stained, and refinished a dining room table, two leaves, and eight chairs.

The table is absolutely beautiful and is only slightly lighter in color than before. You would never know that the new leaves were more than 100 years newer than the table. Fabulous!
Description of Work: I have a 42" square antique oak table that was missing the leaves when I purchased it back in the 70's. I always wanted to have leaves made for it and when I moved into my new home I decided to have it done rather than buy a new dining room table. Out of 3 companies that I called, Earl Ginn Custom Furniture was the only one that responded promptly and was interested in doing the work. I had 4 new 20" leaves made and some repair done from storing it for many years in an area that was not climate controlled. They also had to refinish the table to ensure that the new leaves would match.

This credenza was my husband's grandmother's furniture. It has been on multiple moves (military) and it was basically falling apart, scratched up, and just abused. I called the Ginn's and they came over that day to look at the pieces and give estimates. The prices they quoted me were what I paid. He was able to put all the pieces back on and it looks like it should have from years ago! It has a really nice patina on it and it is true to the original color and finish which is what I wanted. I told him no rush on the pieces and I got them back within 3 weeks. He had also called in the middle and gave me an update on the pieces. The wall grandfather clock he could only do the refinishing and putting it back together part. To get the clock fixed itself I'll have to have someone else do (from Angie's list of course :) ~ But the piece he brought back is beautiful and looks new again.
Description of Work: An antique credenza was put back together and refinished. An older wall grandfather clock was put back together and refinished.

The team was very friendly and knowledgeable. I needed my chairs (3 of them) repaired in time for the Thanksgiving holidays. I delivered the chairs on short notice but they delivered as they promised. The price was a little steep but the quality of the work was worth it. The address of the shop needs to be updated on Angie's List. I called first to verify the location and was told that the address listed was a home address of one of the owners. The gentleman I spoke with was very friendly, courteous and helpful in giving me the location of the shop. The shop reminds me of a garage workshop you would expect to see on 'Mayberry, RFD', but the workers are definitely professionals and KNOW their furniture. They make custom furniture too! From the size and the amount of furniture on site, they stay in demand. I would definitely refer others and call on them again.
Description of Work: I had 3 broken antique pine wood dining room chairs that had been broken for some time. We were having company for the Thanksgiving holidays and I needed them repaired (2 were unusable for anyone to sit on; 1 needed an arm rest repaired). I delivered my chairs to the shop the week before Thanksgiving and explained my urgency to have them repaired. The owner was very sympathetic and promised them before the holiday. The chairs were ready 2 days before Thanksgiving. The shop called to let me know. They also loaded the chairs into my SUV with southern hospitality and courtesy.

I have a dining room table and 6 chairs which had belonged to my parents. The set was purchased it in 1939. A previous pet of mine had clawed the table and chair legs very badly, one of the table legs was coming apart and most of the chairs were also coming apart. The table and chairs were completely redone. None of the claw marks showed, the table leg that had been held together with a screw was completely repaired and there was no way anyone could tell that a screw had even been used. The table looks beautiful and like it was brand new. My Mom and Dad would be very proud of this set. I have used this company in the past and been very happy with their work. I would highly recommend this company to anyone who has furniture of any age that needs to be refurbished.
Description of Work: Refinished dining room table and chairs
