Cunningham Tree Service

Cunningham came out and gave us a quote to do tree service around our property, and we agreed for him to do the work. We did not hear from him for a couple weeks and called back and left messages. Not once did he respond to our numerous messages and left us in the dark. Would strongly suggest if anyone requires service, to look elsewhere. Most unprofessional person we have tried to do business with. If his customer service is that bad, we can only imagine the quality of his work.

He came out and gave me a bid that I agreed to but the hurricane hit before he could do the work. I called after the hurricane clean up was months old- no return call. I waited 6 months. And called him again- he remembered the location and said he would come after the weekend to revisit the work. No call and never showed up- he did work on a neighbors house but didn't bother then either. Others tree companies were much more responsive.

Cunningham never responded to frequent calls or texts. Totally unprofessional!

Very well. Felt very comfortable wit the entire transaction. Would recommend again.

had an emergency situation that threatened life and limb. I was told by the powers that be in these parts to get it taken down ASAP. James Cunningham came out, looked at the tree, and said he would take it down the next morning for $900. After I had made 4 calls to him during the day (speaking to him once), he returned my call and said that he could not take my tree down because he was going on vacation the next day - on the island on which I live! Being on the spot, I had to hire another vendor at substantially more expense. Thanks, James.

There were many facets to removing the oak tree. Part of the tree was supporting the house and part of the house was supporting the tree. I have no idea how the guys worked out the logistics of getting the massive oak disentangled from the structure without collapse or injury, but they did. The oak tree had two parts and split at the base (about 4 feet from the ground) so there was another part to be dealt with that was bigger than the fallen part. In addition, the part of the oak that was still standing was leaning dependently on a 120 Ft Southern Yellow Pine Tree. Mind you, all of the mentioned trees were rooted between 2 houses approximately 25 Ft apart. With extreme skill, technical acumen, human kindness and acceptance of my constant barrage of questions (I was fascinated by the process!!) two trees in the 100 Ft plus range were felled with so much grace and efficiency. Besides all of that the guys all laughed at my jokes taking my nervous energy in stride. The Cunningham Crew are KIND HUMANS and are amazing at doing their highly technical jobs with great skill.

Prompt and efficient service. I have recommended them several times already and would use them again without hesitation.

The crew did an excellent job at a great price. One crew member even blew our driveway at a point when his help was not needed for the tree removal.

What he does is that he does an excellent job, the trees looks great when he's done, he can trim them really well and still they look excellent and they're healthy. He is by far the most reasonable tree guy in our area. I recommended him to a friend of mine recently and he charged $500 for something that other people were way over a thousand dollars for the thing that they would do. He listens to his customers because when he first came like when I first met him which is many years ago, I've had him take care of the large trees in our yard for many years since we've moved in 15 years ago and I get him originally because I needed the cheapest guy and he was it when I got several quotes and then he said, you know this one, I'm just gonna take all the branches off to that long branch and then I went, no no, that's too much, I was just worried about my trees and he said like, well how much do you want taken off and exactly what I've always said he'd done every single time. He's really good.

They removed the stumps for the most part and not everything. They didn't tell me until I found out later that they didn't remove everything. It could have been for a reason; they just didn't tell me. I was not pleased. They were okay. They took care of the trees, but they damaged fencing. They said that someone else will take care of that. They did have someone else take care of that, but that's not what I want. I liked the fact that he was responsive to my call. He was a recommendation from someone else. I liked the fact that he came with a crew. Although the crew didn't necessarily know everything that they were to do, they were certainly helpful. I did not realize that for them it was perfectly okay to smash a board and drop trees, chunks and things like that; I was a little surprised. I have seen others do it and they orchestrate it better. As much as I ask and research, I think we must be on the property when they do it, which I was. I would tell others don't assume that people will take care of things without them being there. I think that's important especially for this company. I think it's important to know that they were happy to connect. They actually suggested someone to me who would do the fencing. But I had to have the fence removed and then replaced. I am not sure if I would use them again in the future; I don't need to because I have no more trees.

I had three quotes for the work. The other two were for $2800 and $4800. So it really pays to get at least three quotes before you pick a company to do the work. James Cunningham's crew consisted of James and seven others. They brought all the equipment necessary to do the work. They all had great attitudes and seemed to enjoy the work they were doing. The operation was amazing to watch as they deftly dropped my 70 ft pine tree between two bushes with only a couple of feet on either side to spare. One guy even took time to explain to my curious neighbor how they tied the various knots in the ropes he used while dangling 7 stories above the ground. I kept the ice water flowing and when I brought out samples of my home brewed beer, they enjoyed that even more! James and his crew were very professionals and I would recommend them for similar work without reservation!

We had a really good price on it and we were extremely happy with it. They did a great job and they really cleaned up.

After another company gave us an estimate of 1000. we decided to go with this company because of cost. They took 3 very large oak limbs down that were overhanging our roof and one over the power line to our home. We were not at home when the work was done, but they were told to let themselves into the back yard. When we came home the limbs were gone, all debris was cleaned and removed. They did an excellent job for a fraction of the cost of other tree contractors.

They took the trees down efficiently and are very careful with their work. The price was good and the crew is quite congenial. A very nice group of men. I am comfortable with their work and will use them again. However, I requested they return to remove the stumps which were left after taking down the trees and was told that they would be back to finish this part of the job. I paid the agreed upon amount but they never returned to take out the stumps.

We were set up to have trees removed on 9/28/11. We had to take down our fence which meant our dog had to be put in the dog run until it was completed and we could get the fence back up. My husband took off work to be there. At 10:00 a.m. he had still not shown up and had not called. My husband called him and he said he had to get a taller boom. My husband kept waiting and they didn't show. He called 3 times to two different numbers and left messages, no return calls. Finally at 3:30 p.m. he called and told him not to come he was getting someone else. He immediately got a call back. My husband said no to him coming out. We called Lewis Tree Removal in Statesboro who had already given us an estimate as well. He came two days later and did an excellent job. He even matched the price that Cunningham had given. I would recommend Lewis Tree Service to anyone. They did a great job, were prompt and had all of the equipment needed to do the job.

The initial trimming and tree removal was performed on the day I scheduled the appointment and was done satisfactorily. They told me that they had to take some equipment back and get the stump grinder, they would be back shortly. They didn't return that day (Friday) or on Saturday. On Monday I called and got a phone message that Mr. Cunningham was out of the country for a week on vacation so I left a message reminding him that my stump was still in the yard. The following Tuesday, after he was due back from vacation I called again as nobody had returned my call. He stated he would be out to finish that day, which he didn't. He finally did show up and remove the stump the following Monday, 17 days after the initial service. The hole where the stump was removed was not filled in and all the dirt and shredded wood was left in a pile in my yard and scattered in my driveway and walk. I called him again and he said he would be back at 8:30 in the morning to clean up, again he never showed up. I finished the job myself.

I thought they were very unprofessional. They called to say they were running late, but just never showed up after rescheduling or called to say they weren't showing.

Job was done well over several days. The Emergency Part was done the same day. They came back later on to finish the entire job.

Very well. Did not have any expectations as this was an initial experience for me. I was pleased with the concern and care taken to ensure no damage to structures or fencing. Shrubbery that could be damaged was move to a temporary planting and replanted at the end of the work. Four of my neighbors contracted with Evergreen after observing the quality of the work completed on my property. The free estimate was the final billing amount.

We were satisfied with the work. They removed the trees in a safe manner and were careful to minimize damage to our yard in the process. We were very impressed with the trimming work conducted on the remaining trees to pull them back from the roof. We would use Cunningham again.

Job was performed as planned. Some damage to lawn in work area.

Everything went great. I have no complaints.

It was a good experience overall. The actual tree removal, trimming and grinding was well done. They also did a nice job of cleaning up after completion. The price was a bargain compared to other quotes I had received. My only complaints are 1) they were a day late in starting the job which wasted a half vacation day for me and resulted in the service occurring when I had guests in town, and 2) there was some minor damage to my neighbors yard due to falling limbs which we were told would be patched but was never addressed. These are relatively minor issues and I'd use Cunningham again for tree removal.

On top of completing our job quickly and professionally, they even took the grinder to our 85-year old neighbors hours and grinded a couple of her stumps free of charge.
