Both installations went smoothly. The second install was more involved. Byrd showed up at 7:00 AM and worked until evening to get it done in one day. Make sure you insist they give you a programmable thermostat with any new replacement AC system. This should be standard by now, but you still need to ask or they'll install an outdated model. Byrd tries to sell a 10 year parts/labor warranty with new installations for $700. The unit comes with a 10 year parts warranty standard, so you're really paying for labor. Kind of smarmy, but they only asked once and never brought it up again.

Our air conditioning system is leaking. My husband called several companies. He said that this one was responsive and sounded proffessional so he made an appointment. The repairman came and looked at the problem. My husband asked for an estimate for repair and also to replace the whole heating and air conditioning system because it is approximately 14 years old. He left and said that he would call back the next day. That was a week ago and we have not heard from anyone in the company. If they did not want to do the work, they should have just said so.

We have always found them to be very professional. The people that they send are very professional. They have always showed us exactly what the problem was or could be, as well as what it would take to take care of the issue. Their estimates are always accurate. They don't try to sell you a whole bill of goods. That's one reason we have stuck with them.

The first installation was very sloppy and not up to code. I called to express concerns and they came out and did the job to my satisfaction. Had I not gone online and checked out a proper installationI I probably would have accepted what they had done the first time. They replaced the newly installed flue with one that was cut up and pieced together raw edges so that exhaust fumes could leak into my home. Even the second new installation of the flue had holes and they were ready to connect the peices together until I pointed this out to the installers.

I woke up in the middle of the night with my AC not working and the forecast for the coming day was to be the hottest of the year. My dad owned an industrial sheet metal company, but is retired 3000 miles away so with his help by phone we thought we had it narrowed to a few possibilities. The compressor was still kicking on, but the fan on the AC condenser unit outside would not turn on. My dad thought it may have been a blown fan motor. I called Byrd which was the company that installed the system for the previous owner and after arriving he diagnosed the problem as a blown dual capacitor. Took him about 15 minutes to replace. Byrd charges $79 for the service call and then the cost of repair or parts. The serviceman said the cost of the capacitor was $145 which my dad said was a rip off because they are an inexpensive part. When I asked the repairman about the cost he said that he had no control over that and was just an employee. Work was completed very professionally and quickly and total cost was $224 for a visit that lasted 30 minutes tops. Later I looked online and found the same capacitor available from supply companies on the web for prices ranging from $27-$34. I do think I got ripped off, but since it wasn't a really huge expense I never called their office to complain like I probably should have, but since I was already having to pay the $79 for the service call I didn't want to pay for a second opinion or quote.
