The quote stated the job would be completed in 5 days and it also stated that business owner would do majority of the work. The job was too start on Sep 23, 2 days before he tells me he cant start until the 30th, he shows up at my door on the 30th at 10:30. I wish I had fired him right there and then but I wanted the work done. 2 hours later, he leaves and his helper basically sits around for 3 hours and does nothing. The quality of the tiling is terrible. I purchased a drop in tub and he glued it to the wonderboard and proceeded to cut the tile to fit around the tub, not to go under rim of tub. He grouted around the tub, grout does not "stick" to plastic!! I confronted him when I noticed this and he informs me that that is the way it is done. I was furious at this point and should have fired him then but again I did not and I only have myself to blame for this horrible work. It took two weeks to do 5 days of work, because he was never there, leaving after an hour to go to another worksite, leaving his helper behind, who basically sat around while he was gone. He would show up a few hours later and do some work for a few hours. The work was completed yesterday. I was out when he finished so my husband did the final inspection and paid him, but I was the one who hired him. This morning, in the sunlight, I can see wood thru the paint on the beaded board they installed on my ceilings, paint drippings are all over the place also. And this is the clincher, the shower door is crooked!! It is off by one half inch, totally noticeable. I wanted to have this work done to update my bath for resale value. So now I have to hire another contractor to re-install the shower door and paint the ceilings again. Eventually I will hire another tiling contractor to redo this horrible mess that I am left with. I am going to check into recourse as I do not want this person in my house again.

Response from DJF Designs
We are disappointed and surprised at the allegations provided by this customer. We feel we provided professional workmanship. We are a licensed contractor. We hold the necessary insurance and my only employee has worked for me for the past 9 years. We were aware the customer was unhappy about a small portion of the tile work. We addressed the situation immediately, fixed it and received approval from the client that it was satisfactorily completed. We then provided and installed pre finished white bead board sheets on the ceiling of the master bath and bedroom. As the sheets were factory pre finished and then painted with a coat of satin paint, we don’t know how they can see wood through the paint job. Nevertheless, we are more than happy and willing to meet with the clients to further resolve the issue they have with the project. We pride ourselves, and have for the past 10 years, on providing professional workmanship and a reputation of prompt, courteous service. The bathroom tile portion of the project was completed 4 days before the completion of the bead board ceiling. I would have expected to hear about their disappointment prior to our final walk through, job complete approval and receiving final payment. We still maintain we would be more than willing to help our client by reinstalling the shower door and providing another coat of paint to the ceiling. Respectfully Submitting, David Fantigrossi Owner, DJF Designs
