Description of Work: I hired Templeman painting to repaint the living areas in my condo and to repaint and fix the kitchen cabinets. Pros: On time arrival for the initial quote, fair pricing, and eventually having my living area repainted. Cons: Templeman’s employees left a huge mess after “finishing” the job. There were paint splotches on my kitchen tile, the granite countertops, the wood floors. The trim had not been repainted, there was blue paint visibly on the trim around the bedroom doors, and blue paint was on the ceiling above the doors. They did not fill the holes in the cabinets from the previous hardware and just painted over them. They also got paint all over my sink and on my brand new dishes that I hadn’t even used yet. I found this most upsetting, particularly because the painters spent so much time assuring me they had years of experience and were detail-oriented. It took me hours to get it all off. I took many pictures of the condition and contacted Dave, who said he would take care of the details himself. He said he had been out of town in Georgia working on a job and hasn’t been able to oversee them at the time. Following this communication, I did not hear from him again for over two weeks. I called again. He said that he had forgotten about it, but he would come to fix the things that were left. I spent time writing the list of unfinished work, as he asked, and made sure to mark all of the paint splotches. The initial date he was supposed to come was then pushed back a couple of times for the sake of other jobs, which I assume more important or expensive. I found this really frustrating. He finally did come to take care of most of the issues, and left a note saying he had fired his employees after seeing the poor work that was done and that he would return the following Monday to finish repairing the cabinets. The cabinet that I had initially been the most concerned about was repaired with a piece of black Velcro to keep it shut until then. On April 17th, I sent a text to ask him to confirm his arrival for Monday, and that I would leave a key. He responded with “k.” It is now May 11th and that was the last I heard from him. I have had to hire someone else to finish the cabinets. I realize we are experiencing a pandemic and a certain degree of flexibility is required. However, that’s still no excuse for poor communication and follow through. Overall, I was disappointed in the experience.

At the end of the job, they cleaned all surfaces that may have paint or any debris from their work, including the floors. After a year of use, our cabinets have no chipping, marring, or discoloring of any kind. They look as good as they did when the job was completed. The project took a bit longer than anticipated to complete, but the results were worth it. We received excellent value.

We were in no hurry to complete the job initially because we were not yet living in the home. When we were close to moving in, Dave rearranged his schedule to complete the additional coat in sufficient time to avoid problems with the move-in. Also, the price for completing 4 rooms was very reasonable.
