Description of Work: The company replaced the gutters on the front and one side of the house. The new gutters look great and we are satisfied with the finished product. Here's our predicament: they start out saying that they are the most expensive so that you don't feel shocked when they give you the figure. Then they explain why - they cut all the gutters on-site and the cost of the truck which is outfitted with all the equipment to appropriately size the gutter is very expensive. So we get this sales pitch - which took almost 2 1/2 hours to convince us that this was absolutely the best product on the market. - and we agree to do only half the house now because the cost is so prohibitive (a total of $4500 for a house that doesn't even have gutters all around it). They don't price out the job by the foot and we were able to save some money by keeping the old downspouts although we will need to paint them to match the fresh white of the new gutters. With all the build up, we are expecting something amazing for the charge. For $2250, the 2 men that came out and spent an hour and a half on the job and they were done. That equates to $25 a minute for their efforts. Unfortunately, my husband and I are both accountants so it is hard for us to understand how this process can possibly cost so much. Presumably, they purchased their truck years ago so the truck probably paid for itself a long time ago. It seems that they are making a fortune on homeowners like us and we feel a pretty stupid for buying into their sales pitch. And quite frankly, I am too embarrassed to recommend this to my neighbors. I had read the reviews on Angie's list before I signed up- I knew that the sales pitch would be to the husband and wife; I knew the pitch would take a ton of time; but I still feel a bit duped. If you own a million dollar home and you have disposable income to spare, then this is the company for you. If you're a "regular" person, then pass. These are gutters we're talking about. They aren't going to increase the value of your home like a kitchen makeover or hardwood flooring will. And you're not going to drive up your driveway and smile at the change to your home because it's not obvious like a fresh coat of paint, new windows, or landscaping.

Description of Work: We contacted this company to ask for an estimate for a covered porch/deck and pergola. They insisted on giving us more and more. We wanted something small; they provided something large. We asked for less expensive materials; they estimated for more expensive. They ended up quoting us quite high - way out of our budget - then proceeded to play "good cop, bad cop" with us. They "called the office' to see if there were any rebates or discounts available, etc. . . The lowest they could get our estimate was still way high. We ended up using a different company later and got exactly what we wanted for less than a quarter of what Southern quoted us.

Description of Work: We encountered this company through Home Depot's free estimate for work on your home offers. This company showed up to give us an estimate on what we wanted to renovate on our home. We were interested in several jobs such as having a deck added, re-doing the roof, replacing our current windows with more efficient vinyl window etc. We were going to have the work done in stages as we were going to pay and not finance it. The salesperson was overly aggressive and talked very fast...showing us only what he was trying to sell from his catalog. He dodged the real questions that were specific to the work we were interested in and talked in circles..sometimes even contradicting himself. Because he forgot what he had quoted a hour before. Oh yes, this hard sales pitch went on for hours and hours and hours...about 4 hours to be exact. This person insisted he was going to sell us something. He tried all kinds of scare tactics saying our house was going to collapse if we didn't get what he recommended done. His first price quoted was 40, 000. And he kept trying to to get us to finance the work instead of paying for it. Of course, he wanted us to sign a contract right away on the spot. The whole thing was very suspicious. But this guy was refusing to take no for an answer though we had tried to get him to leave several times. Luckily, I had did some research on the government site for HUD that gives consumers a list of warning signs to look for alerting them to unscrupulous business practices in this industry. This guy's sales pitch and behavior constituted 90% of the alarm triggers on the list. By the time we had say no to him for the 20th time, his price had declined from 40,000 dollars to 15,000. There was no way we were going to to business with anyone from that company ever!!! Not only that, the experience was so horrible; we will never accept anymore offers from Home Depot for a free estimate again.

Description of Work: Taylor done a fantastic job on siding and eave/overhang trim for my home in Ellijay. The house hangs off of a mountain and the installers did an unbelievable job. Thank goodness they had liability insurance because it was quite an accomplishment getting that house sided.

+ -1 moreI called Taylor to get an estimate to replace my siding. The first question asked was "Is your wife going to be home?" I asked what difference that made and they gave me a scripted answer. Finally, they agreed to meet me for an estimate. On the Saturday morning of the estimate they did not show up. I called and was told their records indicated my wife was not going to be at home so they could not give me an estimate. They want both spouses at home so they can use high-pressure techniques and try to do a "one call close." The person I spoke to was very rude and argumentative with me! I would not use them to replace the siding on my doghouse!
Description of Work: No work was done as they would not give estimate without my wife home. I know this was required so they could try high-pressure sales techniques to try to sell me the job on the first visit!

+ -1 moreBoth the master bedroom and baby's bedroom were hot in summer and cool in winter. The sunshine windows are perfect. They cost 20% extra because they are 60/40 split. They were also 20% extra because they were brown outside and white inside. Third bid, all these guys are like used car salesmen, but the sale was smooth. Install was perfect. This was 6 months ago and summer was not a problem with the heat. Will get the rest of the house done soon.

+ 0 moreRepresentative was aggressive, unprofessional, and untrustworthy. Prepared estimate for roofing materials only outside. Once inside, questioned me regarding interior upgrades and insisted I tell him what I did for a living. I declined to provide my personal information. Reviewed with me BBB complaints on competitors, printed materials, samples, and explained liability insurance coverage for workers and job. Refused to show Proof of Ins, company info, and references. Said I should trust him. After, Rep did not show first estimate. Went outside to prepare another un-itemized roofing only est (1200 sq ft @ $11,525). 3 times higher than other roofers. Rep also refused to give me GAF printed materials, warranty and product samples. Stated he only provided to customers, then presented a contract for signature to obtain materials. I explained my intent to research three roofers and products before deciding. Rep used high pressure tactics for 45 mins to get sale including texcote and gutters.
Description of Work: Representative provided estimate for roofing, gutters and exterior texcote. After experiencing deplorable sales pressure tactics and obtaining exorbitant estimates, I did not pursue business with this company.

+ -1 moreWe regret succumbing to Gary McCoy's high-pressure sales pitch on 2/27. We love the windows, but the initial installation (4/19) was inferior. Vinyl-clad aluminum trim was nailed to unsealed wood strips placed over the siding, without exterior caulk. Various Taylor reps came out, but consistently denied any problems - despite a report by an Independent Home Inspector on 6/8, describing the window installation as ''unorthodox'' & not industry standard. Water seeped inside our kitchen through at least one window! I called the manufacturer, I posted to Angie's List, and I wrote a letter to the President of Taylor. Epilog: Taylor Construction hired Dennis Wood of Custom Installations to finish the job. I cannot praise Dennis highly enough. He spotted the problems right away, and devised a plan to fix them. The problem was resolved on July 27th, five months after we signed the contract to purchase the windows. Finally, we can enjoy our new windows.
Description of Work: We hired Taylor Construction to replace eight windows on the ground floor of our home (kitchen, bathroom, family room) with ''Restorations'' windows by Sunrise. These are high-end vinyl replacement windows in terms of design and energy conservation features, and Taylor Construction is the sole supplier in the metro Atlanta area. The initial installation was done by an outside contractor, Steve Massey, who stated he has worked for Taylor for 15 years.

+ -1 moreIT WAS A NIGHTMARE, AND IT'S NOT OVER YET. IT STILL LEAKS WHEN THE GUTTER FILLS UP WITH WATER AND STILL RUNS INTO THE FLORIDA ROOM. I HAVE A LIFETIME LABOR AND TWENTY YEAR WARRANTY. THEY PUT ME OFF 2-3 WEEKS, BEFORE THEY ATTEMPTED TO FIX IT. DAVID NAZZIR IS THE PROBLEM, BUT OTHER EMPLOYEES TRIED TO COVER FOR HIM. OTHER EMPLOYEES DID A GOOD JOB.

IT WAS ONE OF THOSE ''I'LL GIVE YOU THIS DISCOUNT IF YOU DECIDE RIGHT NOW'' KIND OF PITCH. I DO LOVE MY GUTTER TOPPERS AND THEY WORK FINE BUT, THE INSTALLER WAS NOT TAYLOR CONSTRUCTION BUT SOMEONE THEY CONTRACT WITH FOR THIS WORK. I DIDN'T THINK THEY DID A VERY GOOD JOB ON THE CORNERS WHERE THE GUTTERS END. ALSO, SINCE A ROOF LEAK WAS FOUND, THEY HAD TO COME BACK TO FINISH AND IT TOOK A LONG TIME TO GET THEM TO COME BACK. THE GUTTER PRO SYSTEM MIGHT BE A GREAT ONE, BUT I WOULDN'T USE TAYLOR CONSTRUCTION AGAIN.
