Monte Hewitt cut corners everywhere. We continue to find challenges such as unaligned tiles, faucets falling apart, a sump pump (cheapest brand possible), expired fire alarms, light switches in strange locations (e.g. behind a door when opened, erosion (entire neighborhood), etc. I know that home builders like to cut corners but Monte Hewitt has contractors shaking their heads when they come in to repair things. Some of these were things we brought to their attention before the final sale (erosion, loose toilets) which were brushed away with explanations or minor adjustments that were ineffective.

I wrote a review a while back which disappeared. As we discovered more and more shortcuts taken by the builder the more disappointed I have become with a company that is supposed to have a good name. We discovered recently that windows installed had mostly defective mechanisms. A cheap bathroom faucet sprouted a leak after less than two years. Light switches were placed in random locations with no reason by them. They refused to properly address the fittings above our garage claiming it was not a necessity to have it look finished (some of the models that they built from scratch were done properly. Our entire neighborhood has suffered from erosion issues that were ignored. Just because a company has a "name" doesn't mean they live up to it. I would not write again if we weren't still discovering problems with what was supposed to be a new home.
