I am absolutely appalled by the service I received from Ed Castro Landscaping. It's truly astonishing that such a company can still be in business. From the outset, the project was plagued with mismanagement. The designer, Hannah Seaton, was unresponsive and unhelpful, and the project manager, Steve Lofstrom, acted as if it was his first day managing this small landscaping project. The final product was a far cry from what I had envisioned and what I had paid for, with many of the plants arriving dead upon delivery and 3x smaller than what I paid for. To add insult to injury, they refused to replace or refund the cost of the dead plants and exchange the wrong plants I received, despite clear evidence of their condition and size. The pricing was exorbitant, and the quality of the plants was abysmal. I paid a premium for larger plants, only to receive tiny, unimpressive specimens. To make matters worse, they even delivered the wrong plant species, demonstrating a complete lack of attention to detail. I cannot stress enough how dissatisfied I am with Ed Castro Landscaping. After multiple attempts to come up with a resolution path I was met with no response having already paid thousands of dollars. I strongly advise anyone considering working with them to reconsider and choose an actually reputable landscaping company. They will inflate the costs, mismanage the project... and good luck getting them to do anything about it. Jim Davis, the "Director of Operations" is clearly not doing his job... hence the negative reviews and poor customer satisfaction. Run away quickly from this company!

Description of Work: Hannah of Ed Castro did a complete overhaul of s side yard taking it from |Unusable space to a besutiful garden. The space was very sloped and now it is level with walkways, stairs to get to basement level with three beautiful areas. Work was also done at the front of the house. We spent several months on construction of hardscape and planting. We are continuing with Hannah do do spring planting | |We are thrilled with what had been done. We are still in the process of getting the garden lighting perfect. | |

Description of Work: Through the recommendation of a high profile Atlanta/ Buckhead resident to seek Mr Castro for his services, I contacted him back in Novemeber to provide design ideas for the rear of my home. Mr Castro was prompt, highly skilled in his craft and provided excellent design ideas. I look forward to working with him in the Spring when I plan to begin work on the gardens.

Not much! See above. But again remember, I had been relatively happy with their previous work. Now for "Overall Experience" I gave them a "F" grade. Again, please remember, to be fair, this grade was for this experience.
Description of Work: First, I must be clear that this grade is for my contacting Ed Castro for a job to take place late spring/early summer 2013. They had done previous work for us that I, for the most part, had been very happy. I contacted the person who had helped us before to come out and look things over and see how we could "punch up" the yard from their previous work. At first she was punctual, but then there came a point that she neither responded to my calls nor my emails. And I had made it clear that I wanted Castro to do our new work. Hence the "F" grading for responsive, punctuality and professionalism.

Ed Castro has maintained my landscaping for the past 6+ years and has done an outstanding job. The yard always looks great, they maintain the plants and lawn to an exceptionally high level and applications of fertilizer, herbicide, etc. automatically happen when needed. They also have done great work on refurbishing landscape areas that needed refreshing, and the seasonal color beds always are the best on the street. Their pricing is squarely in line with the product they deliver, and in my view is reasonable. Very responsive if you have a special request, like overseeing the irrigation system. Chris D**** deserves special credit for managing the week-to-week work and Mary Shearon has delivered great results when landscape design and plant selection are needed; they both are very hands-on and on-site through execution until the customer is satisfied. I've found the firm to be very reliable and well-run.

Description of Work: I called to schedule an estiamte for weekely lawn services as well as seasonal pruning. I spoke with a young female who took my information and said someone would call me back to schedule by the end of the day. I never received the call, as of today 3/27/2012.

. I would have used him but they were higher than most people. They had good references and I know them personally. The experiences I have with them did not hinder them from giving me an estimate. I had a courtyard with bricks inside on the ground. Part of the courtyard was in a bad shape with water leaking underneath the house and I needed all that torn down and replaced. The owner of this company wanted the brick to be reviewed before it was taken for the patio. He needed all the bricks taken off, chipped off, cleaned and save them. After putting the base back in he wanted to use the same bricks over again. He did not have any old bricks to use so that was the main reason why I did not use him. I would consider him for a quote in the future.
Description of Work: . I received an estimate from ED CASTRO LANDSCAPE to do a patio replacing a courtyard.

They were great. They came out promptly. They did everything they said they would do. The work was immaculate, and there were no problems. The only thing was that they were expensive. I would probably get other estimates before I call them back.

Looked at various options with multiple companies. Chris came to me with a plan which was much better thought out than the other companies, we went through a few revisions (he was quite patient and responsive to my requests) and then proceeded. The whole process went forward without any incidents, and was done in a timely manner (less than one week).
Description of Work: Needed complete update of back of property with demolition, grading, planting, and placement of new sod.

Retained Ed Castro Landscape to redo front and back yards. Front yard went fine, backyard was a disaster. They destroyed a granite wall with a truck backing into it and the fix was ugly, they built a very unsafe $15,000 deck a story off the ground that swayed dangerously and failed to bolt it to the house until I insisted, then they blamed their subcontractor and wanted to charge extra for securing it. They installed the deck using cheaper construction materials than what was specified clearly in the contract and then complained about correcting it and tried to refuse to correct it, then fixed it begrudgingly. They allowed subcontractors to work unsupervised and destroyed a neighbor's sprinkler system and fence with a truck then failed to fix it. They installed a staircase which I didn't order that didn't match the sketch that Ed and I did together and then refused to fix it. They blatantly over-billed almost $20,000 versus the contract. They failed to provide promised insurance policy for a poorly installed deck pole system, and then Ed ignored phone calls, emails and text messages for three months. Basically he agreed to fix all the problems, looked me in the eye and promised to fix them, then ignored attempts to contact him for three months to effect the corrections. There were four or five project managers over the time period of the landscaping install, each one blamed the last for the problems and promised to fix them then none of them did, Ed promised to fix everything and never did. For $100,000, I expected a real project manager and never got one, I expected the best quality work and got substandard, sloppy and uncaring work, and to allow damage to existing property and neighbor's property to occur and not fix it even after admitting to the damage is unethical. I paid a premium price for sub-standard quality and wouldn't wish this company on my worst enemy.
Description of Work: Front yard: installed retaining wall, new sidewalk and front entry steps, new plantings. Back yard: bulldozed out all plants, removed driveway and existing deck; reshaped property, installed two major retaining wall systems, installed all new plant materials, installed deck off second story, installed new driveway.

They are very efficient and there is no wasted time. They do what they say they will and are very good at picking types of ivy and other plants that are compatible with one another.
Description of Work: The came out and removed and replanted several flower and ivy beds. They got rid of all the debris and it looks lovely.

I have used this company for several months. I was using another higher-priced company. This company has been responsive and they have brought people by for me to meet, now I know who should be in my yard. They will phone if they are going to be late. I think the cost is reasonable and they do a good job.
Description of Work: This company maintains our large yard. They mow and bag the grass. They trim shrubs and edge the borders. They are replacing the sod in the back yard and they are repairing a portion of our sprinkler system. They will help us water the yard if needed. They are removing some old fencing.
