DO NOT USE!! The owner of Aqua Blue Pools, Rick McDermott, is a disguising excuse for a human being. He purposely and intentionally steals your money without doing work. He is a complete scam artist and knowingly performs 20% of the work and then disappears with your money. His contract is written to scam you. He uses your hard earned money to go on elaborate vacations with his friends. He is a complete con man so don’t be fooled by his outgoing, friendly personality. Every word out of his mouth is a lie. RUN from this man and warn anyone of him.

Disaster,paid in full to do indoor swimming pool ,to date the project not finished ,he is plaming every body but not him self for not finishing the project ,he ran out of lies . It is a nightmare to deal with such a lier .

BEWARE! I’d give zero stars if I could. Absolutely the worst experience you can imagine. Rick promised a pool in 4 months, it took a year. He has no idea how to communicate or manage a project. Only thing he’s good at is taking your money, making excuses, & blaming others for delays. We recently found out that Rick started another pool company called Distinctive Pools of Atlanta and Aqua Blue Pools is bankrupt.

First of all, not even a legit company. Has been dissolved since 2016. Took over 1 year after missed 4 deadlines ONLY to finish 90% of the project. Only showed up to our project maybe 3 times. Poorly managed subcontractors. Had a swim-up table that he failed to install before pebble which is now a huge deal and will cost me much more to fix. Bottom line, he really shouldn’t be in the pool business. Lack of quality subs, mismanaged money, lack of integrity. Attractive price, but you pay for what you get.

DO NOT HiRE THIS COMPANY!!!! I don’t know how Rick had been in business for this long with his horrible customer service and constant lies. He is unprofessional and unreliable. It looked promising back in December when the hole was dug, then the concrete was sprayed in January, then the interior top tiles in February, then the pool just sat untouched for 3 months, then they did the stone around the very edge of the pool then waited another two months for then to grade the dirt. Still waiting for the rest of the pool and keep getting told next week, every week. His excuses have been materials and labor, well if the job was contracted back in December and majority of the money was given to him then why weren’t materials ordered that long ago. So if you go with Rick, expect him to take 95% of your money and over 8 months to finish it .

It started out very promising, but as time went by and we went well past the 45-60 timeframe given, it was apparent that this was not going to be a great experience. At some point I was just hoping the main parts of the pool were finished because firing aqua blue and hiring another company to finish would have been too expensive. A part of the pool project included a fire pit and a built in grill. aqua blue only finished 95% of the project and left me hanging with no pool robot ($1,300), not converting my pool system to salt water ($1,200), not finishing the pool and fire pit drainage, and a red mud stain on the pool wall. they stopped showing up to the job about 2 months ago and I have not heard from them since! no kidding. not to mention the disaster of red dirt that they did not pay to have hauled away, but instead just pushed the dirt all over the back yard which is causing major hi and low points which have lead to major flooding and mud getting into the pool. very bad experience. if you read this and still use them you are making a very bad decision. take it from someone that made the same mistake because I read a bad review about them and decided to give them a chance for the lower price. you get what you pay for!

Rick was a great salesman. Unfortunately, he isn't a very good business manager. We had to pay one of Aqua Blue's subs directly to avoid putting a lean on our home. Once we had paid the full amount (to his sub to avoid a lean) that we owed Aqua Blue as part of the contract, we never saw them again. They disappeared and stop answering our phone calls before the pool was signed off by the city. We ended up having to pay more to other vendors to have our fence brought up to code and secure the pool equipment in order to get the pool approved by the city. Rick had agreed to take care of those items when we signed the contract with Aqua Blue Pools. In my opinion, Aqua Blue Pools does not have the capital/cash flow to appropriately run the business. They are reliant on the next pool sale in order to pay for your pool. The quality of the work was also suspect. The pool decking was poorly laid and did not have the appropriate reinforcements installed. The pool is only 2 years old and the decking has several large cracks. I would never use Aqua Blue Pools to build a pool or you will potentially have leans put on your home and a poor quality product in the end.

After having received multiple quotes from pool builders, and having had to chase many of them down to follow up on quotes my wife and I signed with Aqua Blue. Rick's responsiveness and level of service has been outstanding. He calls when he says that he will, and his crew shows up when scheduled. Rick keep us informed of the progress at every step. I know that all sounds like a "no-brainier" but that level of timeliness and communication hasn't always been my experience with contractors. Rick worked with us to insure that we'd stay within budget for the project while still getting the best pool for our money. We have ended up with a much nicer pool than we ever expected after our earlier estimates from other pool builders. Additional the crew at Aqua Blue have been respectful of our property and neighborhood; an appreciated trait considering we live in a small neighborhood. Overall the installation has been relatively stress and problem free. Rick and the guys at Aqua Blue Pools of Atlanta have been great! We can't wait for Summer time!
